Knicks · Knicks badly need Myles Turner (page 3)

your shtick of mentioning Jets stuff or Elf just doesn't work at all. Ever
In fact, it's kind of tedious
Just trying to figure out how the suns are so successful while Elf rides pine. It’s impossible
The application of irrelevant sarcasm does not work.
If your taken serious, its moronic.
If its a stab at humor, it fails.
Either way it don’t work. While it might not be original i think it's humorous enough. On a scale of one to 10, 10 being something that makes you burst out laughing,I think it's a solid 6
Elf on the shelf or we talking Elfred Payton lame deflection comments?
In France Fred Weis was a good player and Jerry Lewis was a comedic god. Perspective if all relative.
In my mind I rooting like hell for Kemba. But in a world were knicks are not better than last year (yet?) and we “Upgraded” from Elf to Walker, why are we not better?
Yes, there is lots of blame to go around. Elfred Payton is not a great player, and Thibs did not have better last year. Yet, his play was not the issue for the whole season. He tailed off. True. I get it. Nalod never has called for his return.
Or stream a jerry Lewis movie!
You might be stretching it a bit a there. How about rewording that to read "Fred Weis played pro basketball in France...and he was tall."
Lol. Didn’t Freddy Wei’s retire after Vince literally posterized him?
The asking price is t0o high just like it was for Sexton, and Leon is as conservative as it gets.
Leon said the knicks will still looked to be aggressive on the trade front, but that was a bold face lie.
He hasn't been aggressive at any point since he's gotten here, we have made some minor trades on draft night to move down in the draft, traded for Rose even though we were sitting on 30 mill in cap space all last season.
Kemba and Fournier were decent acquisitions, but lets be honest, Derozen and Ball would have been a more aggressive approach they just didn't want to shell out the extra $$$.

I think he still played for a bit more, but he had issues with depression and was in a bad place. Not sure if they were Vince Carter dunk related.

I'm not sure those were the right moves to make w/I getting a real PG first. But I think DeRozan was set on going to LA, with Chicago as his fallback, before the season even ended. The Ball to Chicago deal was also at up before FA even started. I'm not sure I can say how aggressive Leon was in his pursuit.

well to answer the bold
Turns out, according to two NBA sources, [Knicks GM Scott] Perry was leaning toward a bolder pursuit, that of San Antonio standout swingman DeMar DeRozan. According to the sources, DeRozan had sincere interest in the Knicks, but instead ended up with a generous deal in Chicago – a three-year, $85 million package. The Knicks inked [Evan] Fournier for four years, $78 million (with bonuses) while retaining a team option for the final season."
It was simply a more passive approach, but where i was wrong was thinking fournier was more on perry and Thibs than it was on Leon.
The Team friendly contracts given out this summer is a good and bad sign for this FO
The good is that you can expect them to not over pay for any player in the NBA, i don't care who it is.
The bad is majority of above avg players will always follow the money unless they get traded here, experience playing here like Randle any wants to re-up at a discount

Maybe they decided not to pursue after hearing back from Derozan's camo.

"I felt like going to the Lakers was a done deal and that we were going to figure it out. I was going to come home," said DeRozan, a Compton, Calif. native. "The business side of things just didn't work out. A couple of things didn't align. It didn't work out. It's just part of the business, part of the game. My next option was definitely Chicago. So, looking back at it, it worked out well."
He's now in his 7th season and he's never once improved his game.
His statistical numbers of production of years 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and now year 7 are identical. They've stayed exactly the same. He's never once improved his abilities as a basketball player.
He's never made it out of the 1st round.
He's had 5 1st round eliminations.
He's been swept in the 1st round (3x).
And failed to lead Indiana to the playoffs last year.
6 years. 5 1st round exits + no playoffs last year.
What has this overrated Myles Turner ever done for Indiana that makes you Knicks fans want to A.) Trade the farm for him in a trade and B.) End up paying him big time $money$?
You guys would've ran Turner out of NY 4-5 seasons ago and would've attacked him more than you did Julius Randle while getting eliminated 1st round vs. Atlanta last year.

The Carter dunk was a really big deal when it happened. It had never happened before in an actual game either nba or Olympics and was a big reason Carter became such a big international sports celebrity. It drove Weis crazy that he overnight became a worldwide joke for reasons other than being the bust the Knicks drafted over Ron Artest

Turner is not a superstar but he’s a very good player who would certainly help us get better. Imagine coupling Mitch’s defense with actual 3-point shooting
I just don’t think Turner will be worth the boatload of assets the pacers will want for him. We are better off locking up Mitch long term and continuing to develop the young guys

Probably.
Perry once said they would not pursue players that don't absolutely want to be here.
I'm yet to see the current FO aggressively pursue any top tier players, or any player for the matter, and it's simply because they are not Maxing out any players..
Part of the reason KD didn't signed here was because they didn't want to guarantee that 4th yr, especially coming off those injuries.
I seriously doubt this FO will give up a 1st rnd pick for Myles, I think they are looking at OBI and some 2nd round picks, and INDI is seeking a 1st and some young potential stars
Mitchell Robinson has season highs of 17 and 18 rebounds.
■ Myles Turner has a Player Efficiency Rating of 19.5.
Mitchell Robinson has a Player Efficiency Rating of 19.7.
■ Myles Turner has season highs of 4 and 4 blocked shots.
Mitchell Robinson has season highs of 5 and 5 blocked shots.
Basketball is more than just scoring especially for Centers and I'd much rather sign Mitchell Robinson long term and continue watching him develop (2-3 years younger than Turner) rather than trading for Turner. A player who does NOT impact more than Robinson.

I think most people want Turner because of the fit. Our centers defender can help on Randle which is bad. That would not be the case with Turner because you have to respect his shot. Every NBA team is trying to get a stretch 5 for spacing. This is not a new concept.

Do think Miles is a much better offensive player. Actually shoots beyond one foot. Think you do have to take that into strong consideration when the time comes to make a long term decision. Will agree about Miles being older. And disagree about "we need him badly". In addition, hard to guarantee how he will fit.
For me, Miles is one of several examples in why the Knicks may choose to spend bigger money on other Center options. Miles is just one that seems available.
Still hope Mitch stays with us for many years though. Love his energy and athleticism. Think he is a big part of our success when playing well.

Cmon now, if Myles was this team you would not be hoping the knicks traded him for mitch...
The only reason mitch gets love around here is because we drafted him and his contract is peanuts.
I can think of 28 centers in this league that would be a better fit on this roster in this system than MR

And the Knicks are only 2.0 games away from having an NBA top 10 record.

I'll judge their stats on the NBA basketball court too.
I'd love to see your "28 Centers".

Once again, reading is fundamental. See no mention of wanting to trade for Mitch if we had Myles.
Nor that I think the Pacers would trade Myles staright up.(Nor would it meet cap requirements). But guess it's all in make belief land for you? Btw, back in the real world we had Mitch grabbing 18 rebounds last night.
Mitch is much better than you make him out to be. Yes he is limited on offense but it is hard to find someone his size with the same motor and athletic ability. Especially one that protects the rim. Perhaps you can name some at his age? 28 huh?

Exactly. It’s nothing against Mitch. I’d love to retain him as a backup. Turner, Mitch and Sims sets us up at the center position for 10 years. Randle floats too much around the perimeter with Mitch out there. I’d love to see him have more space down low.

32 Minutes.
Only 5 Points.
7 rebounds.
1 assist.
0/2 from 3 (some "deadly 3 point shooting Center" he is).
Yup.
Right.
