The thing about what we are doing now is that we have shot as badly as we can but are still in the game because of defense. Our 3pt defense is trash but otherwise good D.
The disparity it made 3’s but we are only down 2. RJ hasn’t looked this comfortable on offense in a long time
Glass half empty = Our 3pt defense is trash to allow the worst 3pt shooting team in the league to shoot this well.
Glass half full = To be this close while shooting 3-22 from 3 shows that if we can hit a normal amount of open shots next half we win this easy.

Not the 1st half that I was looking for but after being down by 9 points, being down 2 at the half isn't bad.
Really liked the way R.J. Barrett played out there. 5/10 from the field, 13 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal (and two turnovers) but more importantly. He's driving full head of steam towards the paint and then attacking the rim. Love seeing that from a young 21 year old RJ. Only 1/4 from 3 but yet 4/6 from drives.
On a side note. Another 4 PT play from Larry Johnson I mean ALEC BURKS.
Wish Sims was available to round out the young crew

I agree. He is nowhere near as polished overall as a Julius Randle. Especially in the half court (where it matters most).
However I will say this.
Obi Toppin does look really good when driving to the rim. His speed jumps through your TV and his 1st step looks super explosive.

The few stretches they've had together, the Summer League Knicks looked good playing together!
Interesting the starters are all positive +/- so far. It is the bench that is negative now. I really wish we had Kemba and Noel coming off the bench this game.

He is a very different player than Randle would like to see some PnR with him, I think he would be unstoppable.

You are the only one who keeps bringing up Randle in the game thread and he is not even playing. We are trying to find out how this version of the team plays and how their dynamic changes.
RJ looks like as different player with open space in the middle.
No reason to be taking threes right now. We're stone cold, but getting everything we want inside.
