Yeah, he looked tentative to put the ball on the floor, deferring to The other starters to much. We’ve seen he can be a three level scorer. I hope coach reminds him to play him game
The more that Grimes starts and the more that Evan Fournier doesn't play; the Knicks will become better because of it. And so much more exciting and fun to watch.
Quentin Grimes is a development on Offense. He's going to have slumps and struggles on Offense. And that's o.k. Because his Defense is NBA ready and it's going to become elite out there on the perimeter.
• Grimes previous 3 games = 68 minutes combined (25, 31 and 12)..
• Evan previous 3 games = 55 minutes combined (31, 24 and DNP).
It's no coincidence that the moment EF starts playing less and Grimes started playing more, Thibs Defense has immediately allowed less than 90 points during 3 consecutive games (1st time since Knicks of 2012 too).
Over the past two weeks I've begged for Grimes to begin taking minutes away from a stiff like Evan Fournier. I created a thread calling out Evan Fournier as the one who's ruined 2020s #1 Defensive identity. And Grimes playing over Evan Fournier is what I envisioned; real NEW YORK DEFENSE.
The issue is he’s not really a 3 level player. He’s a 3&D guy. There’s a reason he dropped to 25 overall. Although I believe he’s got a nice future, it’s mainly based on how consistent of a shooter he can become.
