Knicks · Thibbs Needs to Take A Stronger Stance With Randle (page 1)
Knicks trade for and give Randle additional chance.
He wasn’t great year 1 but new fo stay by him
He word hard to put it together and has great year
Rewarded with new contract
Since that new contract it’s been all down hill
I don’t like that he obnoxiously told fans to F off.
Now beyond the play he has let his effort level both mentally and physically drop precipitously.
At 30 mm per Randle Should run play hard and take tremendous pride is what he does. Even if his game or fan sentiment is off it’s up to him to give 110% and be positive about it.

Look up his damn contract and then comment on it. He won’t make 30mm even in the last year of his deal.
IM not saying I or any is happy but if the money matters at least look up this contract. If you asking him for 110% at least move a few fingers and be accurate. He is like the 45th highest paid player this year, his new deal pays him 23, 25,27 then 29mm or there about. With inflation and other salaries he won’t move up that much either. Does that excuse him from his attitude? No, but he is not being paid to that performnce last year and he is not taking your money either.

Nalod, I agree that Tommy Beer got Randle’s salary wrong but that was really irrelevant to his point or our point. Randle was paid and treated as the 1A of this team. He is not playing up to a 1A standard and he appears to have checked out on the season. There is no excuse for his lack of effort and focus. I would not excuse it from a rookie and I certainly don’t excuse it from Randle. Thibbs needs to send a message that even Randle has to earn his playing time.

What else does Tommy Beer get wrong that we just digest as fact?
This guy contributes to forbes. He should be better.
Sorry, money matters and player who is getting paid 30mm is some max out shit vs. 21mm which is far from it.
I don’t condone Randles behavior as a face of the franchise and he should be doing better with criticism.
But when writers put out salary stuff they are getting the base riled up about it.
Exectations are whats going on here. Cornerstone or part of foundation piece. This matters.
Fans can think what they want and express it. I get that.
But accuracy matters if you want to be taken seriously and I expect Tommy Beer to make sure he gets it right.
Same for Briggs with is new topic one liners. Call out players for being lazy and yet I see all kinds of fan reactions to others that make no factual sense. If I can get salaries right so can others. Takes 10 seconds to google a players salary on Sportrac.
Not for nothing, but if you feel like you are hard core Knicks fans and thought that Randle was making $30M per, you should be ashamed of yourselves. It didn't smell right and it wasn't.
Bing Bonger mentality out there.
And for the love of god, the Internet and Google was invented a long time ago.

You do understand that $20M is nowhere near $30M? You are off by around 50%
Its like when some players use adversity to drive them, he is letting it beat him. At times you can see this in his lack of effort, his body language, foolish turnovers and shot selection, etc. Some of this is also on the coaching staff. This is something they should be able to help him with- instead of hoping things will just turn around eventually.
At any rate, this has nothing to do with his contract or how much money he makes. Whether some journalist got the exact number right or wrong or if he is overpaid or underpaid for the caliber of player he is. Lest I remind everyone that he agreed to sign the extension.

Only a head case would keep rolling out that SL,
I know Randle has some issues, but it seems to me that the coach has done nothing at all to put Randle or the Team in a position to have success.

Thibs' idea of igniting the fire in the belly is to give Randall tummy rubs after losing games.
We all know this already though…. Or at least those of us using our brains.

Our famous blogger should also note that Randle left a lot of money on the table to stay here.

I kinda want to agree here with this salient point. Randle is not performing to anyone’s expectations, his, I am sure, nor ours. The effort is lagging as well, and it is probably a feedback from his shooting struggles. He might not even be conscious of his struggles in this area. But surely Thibs is watching film, and seeing this stuff pointed out.
Is this how Randle is practicing? Thibs is probably right to a point to back him.
But I think most would agree, we’re past that point.
Is there a step short of benching him or putting him into the second unit?
I’d argue Thibs should put some of our energy guys into the starting line up- that might rub off on him in a positive way.
Start IQ and maybe Obi with Randle at the five. Something to try to wake him and out of this funk. He doesn’t need to play to last year’s level for us to win and be effective.

The question I have to ask is why?
Why is Randle playing like this, is it something he's dealing with off the court, is it the right mix on the court?
I think it's a combination of both..
Why won't Thibs change the SL? WTF does he have to loose
