There is no chance at the playoffs at this point. Rose is and was the glue.
Buying out Kemba is probably the best thing the team can do.
Start Deuce & Grimes, let them get experience move Fournier to the bench.
Need another good player in the draft to continue reshaping the roster. Hopefully Rose not being back helps speed up the process of realizing the play in game and getting waxed does nothingness for this group.

In his first remarks since being shut down in Houston with ankle pain on Dec. 16, Rose said the surgery he underwent on Dec. 22 removed a bone spur from his deltoid ligament and included a regular “scope.”When asked directly if he has a return date in mind, Rose said, “A little bit after All-Star. Taking my time still. It sucks right now. I had to get my mind right for this grind. I’ve been here numerous times. I’ll figure it out.”
Rose said he was in a lot of pain in the many games leading into the game against the Rockets. The soreness started after playing in Chicago on Nov. 21.

Rose's ONLY value is in winning games regardless of when he's called into a game. If the Knicks are mathematically/logically out of the hunt then why waste minutes on Rose? To lose? Doesn't make sense.
The Knicks, assuming they're done, need to rehire Mike Miller as an assistant coach and jettison Rose.
I mean Rose can't start next season as a lynch-pin to the team's fortunes. Again, makes no sense at all.
You want McBride and to a lesser extent Quickley using those minutes.
By the end of February Rose begins to be grandfathered out of the Knicks future - waste of a roster spot. make him an assistant coach.
We should do Rose a solid and trade him to a contender so he can go get that ring. He's wasting his final years here. Trade him home to Chicago for expiring contracts.

Rose leads to better play and smarter play. Even if we're sunk, you keep him and you play him with the kids. IQ and Obi are both much better with Rose around (hell, last year Rose was the only one really giving Obi a glance). Haven't had much of a chance to see him with this year's rookie crop, but am a big believer in developing good habits...
The only scenario I cut ties is if Rose requests a trade...which I just can't imagine while Thibs is in the picture.
