Knicks · McBride Should get walkers minutes (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 2/2/2022 11:51 PM
There’s zero value playing Walker
We johan Santana him. He’s done
We aren’t showing a trade team crp.
McBride played very well to earn minutes from g league games

Naw, he just cycled back and forth a number of times within those 10 threads. I think we were all under the impression that Thibs would play Duece, just like we thought Frank would get more minutes last year, because of his defense. But it's clear Thibs doesn't value defense as much from his point guards as he does his wings and bigs. Duece is showing signs of attacking the rim better in the G-League and hopefully the improvement is enough to grab the attention of Thibs. Coach is who he is and there's no use harping on it.

We need to just waive Kemba and somebody should be fired

I do recall the FO being giddy when they signed him.

The part I don't understand, 2 teams (that needed a pg) got rid of him, wanted nothing to do with him.

It's like buying a nice looking car only to find out a week later the transmission is shot, the suspension is done, and the tires are bald

franco12 @ 2/3/2022 8:04 AM
I think Thibs gets it - he had IQ in with the starters last night. Just a matter of time.

I think the Knicks were hoping that all of those things were replaced. Even I was a little happy about signing him. The amount we signed him for is what I questioned.

He definitely got the elf treatment last night.

IQ and Burks offensive game goes to the trash can when they have to play PG

Nalod @ 2/3/2022 9:11 AM
Kemba was a good idea. It did not work.

2021: 4th seed, we building a culture of winning!
2022: we struggling to 500, fire Thibs!

WHo said we had it built? Fans? If so, then apparently it was premature. We had a good season.
Fire Thibs now? Really? How fucking shortsightedly can one get.

I think teams wanted to sign him, just not at that contract. OKC had two young guards and Kemba just didn't make sense there. At $8M, I don't think it was too big a gamble. I thought Thibs could control himself with the minutes and that IQ would eventually grab more minutes at the point as the season went on. Oh well, I guess the team needs to try again.

Walker looks like he needs a walker
blkexec @ 2/3/2022 10:46 AM
90% of knick fans was giddy about Kemba not just the front office. Especially at that contract. We finally got a legit PG and he’s from NYC. The best news in a long time. I was less giddy with Fournier. Too much money for a non 2 way player, which was the need to replace the 2 defenders that left the starting lineup. I was hoping Kemba and Fournier will use their offense as the best defense.

I was wrong about Fournier and his offensive skill set but still think he was overpaid. I was wrong about Kemba problviding that PG we’ve been waiting for and slept on the defensive impact from elf and bullock. The FO are not robots. They allowed to make mistakes. What I don’t like is if they are too stubborn to admit mistakes. Releasing or trading Kemba is admitting their mistake. We will see soon enough.

Walker may need a walker
Quickley needs to start quickly
Grimes is very grimey
Deuce is on the loose
Sims never grins

Money Mitch slapped Ja, called him a B!itch

SergioNYK @ 2/3/2022 11:28 AM
Hopefully management forces Thibs to go with Deuce after this road trip and trade deadline. No sense in playing Kemba when we're 24-33.
BRIGGS @ 2/3/2022 1:25 PM
If Mcbride is worse than Kemba right now--than cut him. IQ is spotty inconsistent as well. Give Mcbride a chance to play Unless they are trading him and want to keep the G league aura alive
franco12 @ 2/3/2022 1:35 PM
I don't understand the desire to release him unless there is no way to tell Thibs to put him on the bench and use him either in the 2nd unit or emergency situations.

He is averaging 12 points a game. He put up 44 points and a triple double, or am I misremembering this?

Kemba and possibly Fournier should be in the 2nd unit. Rose anointed him starter- when to me it was clear that Rose, hobbled as he is, is a better player- and probably our best player, which is sad because Rose is such a husk of a former great self from a time past.

BRIGGS wants to see his toys and he wants to see them NOW!! Or cut them!

Take it from this perspective. PG position is probably the hardest to learn in terms of all the things you need to do competently as a new player in the league. Think of PG's in terms of QB's in the NFL. There is very good reason most all QB's sit as backups for years before getting on the field. Not all but most.

McBride in that same situation, plus roster makeup, etc.

He will get his chance.

Nah. We’re not having success with kemba. Kemba has no value to the Knicks — he’s shot. A guy goes 40-10-10 in g league. I think he Shouod get his 5 games to prove himself. We have nothing to lose

You need to watch a G League Game Briggs...

If only half of each draft class makes it pass 2 yrs in the NBA, and the G league is full of guys who didn't make the draft at all.

Can you imagine the talent level.

Send a kid down to the G league is essentially sending him to practice.

Mcbride look very shaky the last few times he got meaningful minutes...

He had one good game when there was no scouting report on him
