Knicks · If thibs really isn’t playing reddish that’s not being a good team player (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 2/7/2022 9:08 AM
The front office and coach have to wrk in tandem. I don’t care what anyone says— you don’t use a first rd pick to acquire a player to sit on the bench. There’s gotta be a reason why we invested and as the coach thibs has to HAS to play the guy. The entire nba knows the values of our players already — burcks kemba or Fournier already have their set valuations. So find Reddish 20 minutes and let’s see what he can do for a team that could use the help. And we’ll also see what the front office values a first rd pick.

Berman article is indicating

Word around the league is when Knicks president Leon Rose moved to strike a deal with Atlanta on Jan. 15, the head coach wasn’t all-in on the move.

“From my understanding, Thibs didn’t want him and they did it anyway,’’ said an NBA source who has been in contact with Knicks brass.

Then we all heard THIBs say you can't trade for a player who was out of the rotation for a player than needs to be in the rotation.

I have a feeling these moves are all inline with PERRY.

We had 27 million in open cap space all season long, and rolled out Elf as our pg

We had a boat load of expiring contracts and let them all expire with out using them to acquire a PG .

The previous off season showed stars were not lined up to come here, but we still chose to not make any trades.

We rolled out 6 PF's after having 70 million in cap space..

Now we have 6 wings no cap space, no expiring contracts, and even a guy like rondo would have help.

Thibs and Perry are not on the same page bottom line..There not really consulting with thibs, he wanted Derozen (balling his ass off) and he got Fournier.

Thibs didn't even want Kemba

The issue is Thibs wants to win now and the FO is trying to be a better team in the future. There is no defending the PG or FA moves because they were bad, though I don’t think the Knicks realistically had a chance at Derozan and Lonzo Ball is injured again. Reddish potentially is a good move.

Burks and Fournier are likely gone after their contracts end either next season (burks) or the one after that (Fournier). Reddish is a guy who could be here a decade plus and they traded him for a draft pick that might not convey this year, and might never convey if the Hornets don’t become a top 10 team. To put it into perspective Reddish is likely going to be here longer than Thibs.

Knicks have a lot of voices in the front office....Not sure why the fans always blame Perry for the trades and signings they do not like.

1248 is not all fans.

Lets dig for a minute. Did Thibs not want him ever? or just for this season/rotation? There is a difference.
Some fans just feel that firing a guy like perry solves all past and future issues. Fallacy.
Perry was part of the team that was 4th seed last year. I guess that don't count.
Follow other teams and review past transactions and you can find woulda-coulda-shoulda's all day long. We don't so in a vacuum its just us.
We did sign Kemba. Low risk.
Thibs and Perry not on the same page? Is that because of one Cam Reddish? what other issues are they not?
1248 would blame Mills if he could.
Not three weeks since Redish trade and Briggs has how many threads on this?

There’s been a ton of gossip on the Cam situation but we simply need to reserve judgement until after the trade deadline and see what the team looks like. Only 3 more days.

He can be traded as a solo deal but not part of a package from what I read today.

knicks1248 @ 2/7/2022 11:13 AM
When you here other GMs talk about the knicks, PERRY and Leon are the 2 names that come up.

The moves we are making now (extremely conservative) are the same moves we were making when MILLS was here, the guy with NO FO experience, and his successor is another guy with no FO experience, both have relied on Perry.

I hated mills, but the move he was about to make ( a few days before he was fired) would have solved out PG problem

SNY's Ian Begley reported Monday that the Knicks had registered interest with Golden State about trading for Russell, adding that it was unclear how far talks had advanced.

Two of the names that have come up in conversations with the Warriors about Russell are Bobby Portis and Frank Ntilikina, according to Begley.

or

“New York obviously didn’t land Russell or any other young star prior to the trade deadline (Russell was dealt to Minnesota; for what it’s worth, one package for Russell under Mills that had support included Bobby Portis, Allonzo Trier and Frank Ntilikina),” Begley reported.

I believe they also wanted Knox, 1st and 2nd round pick, but conservative Perry wanted nothing to do with Russell's long term contract, went to Dolan and advised him the Mills was about to put us in cap hell and Mills was fired.

None of those players are here now, and we got nothing in return.

Clean @ 2/7/2022 11:32 AM
What I don't understand about Thibs is he wants to win now but his win now rotation has us 2 - 8 in our last 10 games. Maybe try something different. I am not even a big Cam fan but things can't get worse than they are now.

If all that is true, your looking it thru the lens of hindsight to make your point.
You also have Perry like ratting out Mills.
And, there is a cavalcade domino effect that your not factoring. LIke that deal gets done an all other things not.
And how rare is for a team to do a 4 for one. We to believe GS could take on Portis, Frank, Trier, and KNOX?
You can use anything you want to support what ever narrow agenda you wish to perpetuate to maintain your status of "Im right!".
What was Russels game then? Contract status? GSW was in what mode at that time?
Your pretending you were in the room. You were not in the building.
You can build up a more logical case and reconstruct things to present your view. You generally don't and instead rely on half quotes to serve a view.
A quote that says "Names come up on conversations" to you was a deal on the table Mills could have pulled the trigger on.
Of Deangelo was the guy, we'd have built around him and his heavy contract. Go reconstruct on that and present it. Or not.

Correct. Maybe we can get a future first round pick for him lol.

Are we really doing this again? Martin posted a video in another thread that discusses Cam’s non surgically repaired sore ACL. I hadn’t known that it wasn’t just a sprained ankle. Why do we need to create drama where there isn’t any.
SergioNYK @ 2/7/2022 11:46 AM
I don't think it's so much that Thibs doesn't like Reddish. Thibs historically likes players who can defend and shoot and aren't scared of the moment. I think Reddish can bring some of that and help this team. The issue right now is the log jam. Where do you find minutes? I know everyone says Burks but without Rose and Kemba giving us next to nothing, we need Burks to play minutes at the 1. We don't have any other options. Reddish cannot handle the ball and facilitate as well as Burks. I think Leon Rose and Perry really need to acquire a PG to replace those playmaking duties you're giving Burks and clear that log jam so Reddish can get some minutes. I personally do not want to decrease RJ or Grimes minutes on the wing and Fournier makes too much money and has played better as of late to cut his minutes.

To add on top this, the Knicks front office weren't being good team players when they traded Oak for Camby against JVG's wished. JVG was almost adamant that Camby didn't fit the roster. That was one disappointing season if remember correctly 😉
Chandler @ 2/7/2022 1:13 PM

first all of this sounds like Berman rumors -- unsubstantiated, or based on a conversation with someone else purely conjecturing. I can't imagine in a 1,000,000 years Thibs telling anyone other than his absolutely most trusted sources he didn't want Cam -- assuming that was true. it's not the way he rolls

second i suspect we had insider info from RJ knowing what's ailing Cam and what Cam is and isn't capable of, and third, one can at least hope this is an added weight on the scale to persuade Zion towards NYC at some point in the future (if everything else breaks right)

Don't discredit Berman when THIBS has already gone on record saying

Everything was discussed,” said Thibodeau. “We like who he is. We like the talent, and right now — it’s a long season. We knew we traded someone who wasn’t in the rotation, so you can’t keep adding to it without taking someone out. We can have injuries, so just have to be patient and work our way through it.”

Clearly that means why trade for this guy when our rotation is set, so now we got hope for injuries in order to get him PT

knicks1248 @ 2/7/2022 1:24 PM
Don't know why some of you hate to face reality about the situation..thats a direct shot at Leon and Perry.

Stop adding to an already log jam at certain positions unless you have a counter plan

I agree that Thibs appears overly stubborn and should be more open to trying different combo/lineups. That said we don't know what Cam is doing in practices and while he seems like a mod to high potential player - he may not be doing the work needed to play both sides for a Thibs team. I'm okay with Thibs not using Cam right now as he is correct that there are limited minutes available at the 2-3 spot unless a trade occurs. If he doesn't play Cam by opening night of next season - then something's either up with Cam and/or Thibs decision-making.

You are literally looking at this through the view of a Tick Tack Toe game where one player just made 2 in a row and then the world stops and you can't figure out that the opposing player will just make the common sense next move.
