Everything and everyone associated with the Knicks since that time is a train wreck. Worst owner in sports who got fcjd hiring his friends and delegating his own orders. Whoever screwed pat riley was the idiot. We would’ve won chips here— instead we will continue to wallow in sht.
Maybe tomorrow start a thread on the bad juju of trading Clyde to Cleveland?

Don't revise history as though we "lost" Riley, Riley wanted out. If he didn't want be here f'em.

C'mon - we had Van Gundy after that and I would/will deal with continued futility as long as I have the memories of Van Gundy owning Riley in the mid/late 90s...

Looking back is one thing. Riley left the Knicks 27 years ago. I imagine its gotta be difficult for some to be both Knicks fan and a drama queen at the same time.
I blame it all on Sonny "starphuch" Werbin. He ran MSG from 78 to 1984.

Shocking how clear a break it is - Riley goes to the Heat- and I would love to know what their collective record is - I tried googling it - I'd have to manually add the seasons up.
But stark, and it is Dolan. And I've said this before - if I were Dolan, I'd call Pop & Buford and offer them 5-10% ownership if they came and turned my franchise around.
I am moderately hopeful that Leon Rose can help change the direction of the franchise. For us much as will criticize the contracts of Kemba et al, it's really just Fournier signed long term, and he is not a horrible player.
It might be comforting if Rose or Dolan came out said what we all see and hope: 'hey guys, we fucked it up this off season. We thought we were building on something from last year. But we're further away from being the kind of team we want and NY Fans deserve. We have more work in front of us and it's not going to happen over night. We will work tirelessly to continuously improve the team.'
What would that do, what would that accomplish.
It's just easier to focus on doing their job and ignore the nuts in the peanut gallery.
The problem with this team is that they always resort to quick fixes Fournier and Kemba were quick fix moves. They weren’t even top tier gets. It’s says so much the move. It tells the young players to go F themselves we got vets. Young players are like wtf we Helped you get the 4th seed and you get these washed up players.

All that matters is JVG bitch slapped Riley right after he left, Jeff did the work for us
Losing Riley was the start but it really got screwed up after Ernie Grunfeld got fired during the 1999 season
Grunfeld took the fall for the Knicks getting the 8th seed(the horror!) and was ultimately totally vindicated by the Knicks going to the Finals. The Grunfeld firing led to Checketts assuming the GM role which he couldn’t handle which then led to the back to back worst GM hires ever Layden and Isiah

ernie turned into a bum or was one already. bullets/wizards let that goof hang around for too long and he buried them

I don’t think Ernie does the Ewing and McDyess trades. Those 2 trades set us back 5 years and led to Isiah getting hired in 2003
If we let Ewing’s contract expire and keep the 8th pick and Camby the last 20 years is totally different

This front office has been brutal this season.
