one of the teams most glaring issues is outside of derek rose we have no point guard play. both burks and quickly are shooting guards, and kemba for the large part is cooked. why not bring in mcbride who in 7 g league games averaged 28.7 points, 9.6 dimes, 6.4 rebounds, 4.3 three-pointers and 2.1 steals across seven games.. I understand that those averages will go down due to competition being better , but still why the coach and front office refuse to recognize him as a option, even after not getting a point guard at the trade deadline?

Bingo....Been preaching this all along. I think Thibs pulled the plug on Kemba a little too early, and he's way late on putting Deuce in the rotation. But if Thibs waited a little longer and remove Kemba like he did. That was the best time to inject Deuce until Rose gets back. At least we get a larger sample size of deuce running the point. Plus look at how much he could've learned during that time. Rookies all over the NBA are shinning. It's not like they are all better, they have an opportunity to play more minutes, and that helps with development and making future decisions like trades and free agency. Vs going into the summer expecting Deuce to be the answer. I'm not saying he is the answer, but can we find out?

I think I had Fournier in the second unit and Obi at center. I'm having second thoughts about Sims and believe we need to find a reliable backup center, who has the height and size to guard these bigger centers. Sims is great against small ball centers, but we need Mitch and his backup against larger centers. Right now Noel or Taj can't guard large centers, so thats a big hole.
Fournier may be hard to move right now, but I believe there's a backup role for him, until he becomes an expiring contract. But I think his offense and thinks he helps spread the floor. I just don't think his defense is on par with majority of the starting wings. But against the second unit, EF would look like a 2 way star.

I don't get those 2 statements. That Obi should be put in at C and that Sims is too small at C.
I think Sims is stronger and just as good a leaper as Obi. Why would you put Obi at center but not Sims, even as a backup?
I don't think Obi is a strong rebound, doesn't set good enough picks, does not have a strong enough base to push around other guys like he should as a big. Sims can do those things as a backup.

Good catch. It’s more about playing the best 10 and getting Obi on the floor and having a center that can guard him. I believe most centers can guard sims. Sims doesn’t make the top 10 roster spots to me, even if you buy out Kemba and trade Burks. Who will sims play over? Fournier ain’t going anywhere. Just trying to put him on the floor and if I had to sacrifice defense to get him on the floor I would do that at sometime during the game. So there’s no surprise there especially since thibs has done that before.
Next topic is Sims. I’m separating them because I see ur trying to connect them and that wasn’t my intent. I personally don’t see sims as a starting center right now. And watching him against legit 7 footers and his impact is reduced. Same with taj and Noel. Mitch needs another Mitch type defender as his backup. Or maybe if we increase our guard defense (deuce) that puts less pressure on sims and the center spot.
But if I’m choosing my 10th player, and I’m picking between Obi and sims, I would pick Obi (even though sims is a better defender at center). Knicks need to get creative and put Obi on the floor or trade him.

The at is the lineup I would go with. It’s time for the youth movement.
Thibs is is just too stubborn, he only goes with the combinations he developed during the start of the deason, there is no changing gears for this coach. Is it possible to let Johnny Bryant handle the team the rest of the season and thibs just act as a mentor to Bryant? Thibs cancoach again when the season is over. Thats one way the youth can start playing.
Guys we cannot use McBride. Burks and iQ are simply just too effective and Kemba Walker’s knee isn’t melting before our eyes

Or Thibs could do the smart thing and start Kemba but only play him 15 minutes a game and have McBride play rest of the game while Burks and Quickly go back to doing what they are actually suited for which is off ball shooting guard

I don’t know what happened to Thibs. He is in love with this idea of Burks being a full time pg. what’s even scarier is it looks like the FO is ok with it too
I wouldn’t be shocked if next year Burks is announced as the starting pg. this team is that dumb
Next year both Deuce and Rokas should be given a chance to see if they can handle the starting point guard position
