Knicks · Willie Cauley Stein (page 1)

Philc1 @ 2/26/2022 11:39 AM
With Mitch on his way out (hopefully as part of a sign and trade for a pg) we definitely need to add depth at C. Cauley Stein has talent he just needs to put it together. His upside is Tyson Chandler and Tyson Chandler wasn’t Tyson Chandler his first several years in the nba. Noel and Sims probably still start next season but Cauley Stein can provide quality depth as a rim protector, defender and lob dunker. Suggest we sign him to a cheap one year deal after his 10-day contract expires with Philly
jskinny35 @ 2/26/2022 11:42 AM
Agree with this plan as we will need insurance and Sims isn't ready for heavy minutes
Nalod @ 2/26/2022 1:38 PM
He just needs to put it together. Thats it?
Philc, what happened to this guy? Why is he not sticking with teams?
TheGame @ 2/26/2022 2:19 PM
I am not sure why we would want to get rid of Mitch. He is above average defender on a team trying to be built on defense. Plus, I think he has a lot of untapped offensive potential. We should be able to resign him for $15-$16 mil per year. It’s a lot but he is our best option. We can trade Noel this summer to reduce the strain on our cap.
BigDaddyG @ 2/26/2022 2:21 PM
What happened to that other underachievering Kentucky center the Knicks signed to the G-League? If Mitch does leave, I'm good going in with a Noel, Sims, Taj and who ever else (insert name of a Duke/Kentuck bust). Taj is Herb Williams 4.0, so I'm adamant that returns in some capacity 😤

He’s just like your boy Elf. If he just got a chance he’d average a triple double

Feels like you are limited to Elf and Jets? Is that the extent of your responses?

You can't even defend your own ideas and don't even try

Jmpasq @ 2/26/2022 4:52 PM
Can he hit a shot? Our centers scored 0 points in 48 minutes last night

No he’s basically Mitch on offense though he has actually made shots in his career that we’re more than 1 Ft from the basket

Kemet @ 2/27/2022 2:36 AM
MitchRob has been the Knicks ONLY defensive player in the rotation this season.
Resigning MitchRob will be the start to building a winning team.
MitchRob having Willie Cauley Stein as a teammate for a season or two would improve both players talent.
Noel never should've been re-signed in the offseason, but then again a lot of the offseason decision making aren't panning out.

MitchRob should've been in lineups having a real NBA Foward like Morris or Taj Gibson.

Randle is not a PF !!!
On offense Randle's the Knicks play maker, and on defense he clueless on switches so he crashes the board for defensive rebounds.
For 75 years PF average the most fouls in a season.
Randle has been averaging 2 to 3 fouls in 40 min the last 3 seasons

Mitch is not "on his way out" and WCS looks nothing like Tyson Chandler

Where’s the extension?

JesseDark @ 2/28/2022 4:05 PM
I'd rather retain Mitchell Robinson. Robinson isn't all that we need in a center, but we have developed him this far. Why let him walk only to pick up another less developed player. So far Mich has overcome the foul out woes of his rookie year and put on the needed muscle. I'd like to see him enter the off season with the goal of developing a foul line and in jump shot.

Mitchell Robinson and the New York Knicks are reportedly continuing to discuss a contract extension ahead of free agency, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski said Sunday on NBA Countdown.

“For the Knicks, Greeny, the looming free agency of their 23-year-old starting center, Mitchell Robinson—it’s a concern for New York. They’ve had talks throughout the season with his agent, Thad Foucher, about an extension. The Knicks can pay Robinson, under the collective bargaining agreement, four years and upward of $48 million before June 30. They’ve not reached an agreement on that, and it’s unclear that they will before free agency when Robinson will be unrestricted.”

4/$48mm would be pretty good. I suspect he gets offers closer to $15mm per like Capella

Again, where’s the extension? Mitch is just over 2 months away from being UFA
