It seems a little empty in here. I am going to fill it up some. I have to be honest. I like Cam as our small ball 4. I never envisioned him as a 4 but I REALLY like it. Good on Thibs for staggering RJ's playing time some so he can come in with the youth unit. Sims is a keeper. He will not be an all star but I like him as a bench big. His gravity on lobs is equal to mitch. His gravity allowed Quick to get walk right to the hoop multiple times. McBrides defense alone is good enough for him to get minutes. He is still being played out of position but lets focus on the positive tonight. If our team wins games because of the youth it will be bad for our draft position but I am just fine with it because they are developing finally.

RJ +36
Quick +15
Sims +15
Cam +22
McBride +27

We sleeping good tonight. The youth lineup got me feeling good for the first time in a long time about the Knicks.

Quick was fantastic, he’s really been coming into his own lately. 21 pts 10 reb and 6 assists

i'm watching now - at about the 4 min mark of the 3rd quarter- RJ got a technical after complaining on a non call drive that he missed. Whether he got fouled or not or should have gotten the call, I'm worried that this could be a bad habit he is picking up from Randle. And then the clippers outscore. In fact, the Knicks only scored 2 points more that entire stretch.

Are the players (and Randle) too distracted sometimes.

They won the game, RJ is starting to show maybe he can be a player like a Tatum, and take over a big game. I was watching the other games, and thinking that all the good teams that won yesterday afternoon, have that big ball handler that creates, attacks and creates momentum.

I went to bed at half time fully expecting to wake up to another blown lead and loss so I was shocked we actually won! It just sucks that we are at a point in the season where wins are useless and just hurt your draft lottery odds. But I guess you can't lose them all and it's not the end of the world if we win because of the young players. Looks like RJ had another strong game (24/9/4 and 7/7 from the line!), Reddish balled out in the 4th (that scoop layup was nice!), IQ had a nice game running the team (6 assists, 1 turnover) and making shots and Mitch & Sims dominated the glass (21 rebounds, 13 offensive).

This was a much needed win. The team had actually been playing pretty well through many of the games of the losing streak. And they've been all of the wrong things that bad teams do down the stretch.

But back to this game:
@Franco12 - yeah, RJ has been living up to his pedigree of a top pick. I've continually compared him to other Duke wing studs of recent years (Tatum and Ingram in particular). RJ had a better 2nd season than both of them. Tatum exploded in his 3rd season. Ingram exploded in his 4th. I think part of where we are is accepting that RJ has to be allowed to have some games where he "doesn't play the game the right way" in order to grow. Playing a controlled, conservative game like he did early in the season isn't the way to get in-game reps against real competition. He's coming along. A key to the Knicks becoming a true contender is finding out if RJ can be the true bedrock/cornerstone.

Randle has been really disappointing this season after last year's excellence. He's kind of lost out there - frustrated all the time.

I looked a little closer (thanks statmuse!) at his shot charts this season vs last. Last season he was money when he set up on the right block - a disproportionate # of his work occurred there and in general he was pretty at it. This season, he's much more even left and right. And his FG% on the right has been really bad, like 10-20% worse on all shots coming from that side. Is it as simple as the defense making an adjustment, and him not being able to counter? Is it Mitch/not-Noel?

Quickley is a HUGE difference maker when he's playing well. When he does his Nash/Linsanity impression, probing the defense and finding his teammates on the move, the entire bench plays loose and they can pile on the pain to their opponents. When Quickley plays like a trigger happy spot up shooter (especially when his shot isn't falling, but even when it is), the Knicks bench is stagnant. The coaching staff needs to figure out how they want their PGs to play. It also really spells out what the team is missing with Rose out - basically someone who gets Quickley going!

The Knicks have 18 games left. Do they have a 15-3 run in them finish the season at .500? Rose won't be back for at least 2 weeks, so maybe they get him back with 8-10 games remaining. The only other way to get better is for some of the existing players to up their game.

RJ,Cam & Grimes should be the pillars for this team going forward , we need a PG via trade or draft ..

He is in a good shooting grove right now...one thing about Quick, make or miss, hot or cold, he is getting up shots.

I almost want to say it's like Quickly can't be both a set them up PG and a get your shot off PG- like when he is looking for his shot, you can see he's got to get himself set up for it. I think you could probably tell on the floor if you are a good defender- he, he's looking for his shot.

Please, no 15 & 3 run. If they can win 5-8 games, it probably does enough damage to our draft position! But it certainly needs to set guys up for the summer and next year. If we had had RJ & Randle & Mitch playing the way they have of late from game 1, we're probably in the 8-10 position, even without a PG.

Feels good to see his shot falling again, but out of everything, I've been super impressed with his rebounding as of late. Man is running these down like a hawk!

At first I felt bad for Sims ("let the big man get his numbers IQ!") But it's becoming more and more consistent. Good on him!!!

I'm so happy, I got the chance to watch both our rookies Deuce & Sims plus 2nd season Quickley, and 3rd season RJ Barrett & Cam Reddish in a lineup to start the 4th quarter having a 12 pt Knicks lead. And turn the 12 pt lead into a 29 pt lead in the first 6 minutes of the 4th quarter. The Knicks young-core Kids lineup did THAT !!!
