Hate to lose him but happy if he gets the gig he wants!
Knixkik @ 3/16/2022 8:37 AM
This will be a big loss but it’s part of the business.

Hate Louisville, but love Payne. Wish him some luck as he progresses in his career

I'm a little bitter because we are losing one of our best coaches after a dog turd of a season...

that said, this is what you want... high quality assistants to come here because it will improve their stock so much that they are seen as HC material. I mean, Payne is now at Louisville (it was good enough Rick Pitino... and I doubt much is good enough for that dude) and Mike Woodson just had Indiana's first NCAA tourney win since 2016. Anyway, next coach up!

this is the way... Feels like Woodson was a big loss last year also, but hopefully this is a growing thing and a positive even if losing Payne hurts (it surely will)

Wasn't Payne supposed to be this big man guru? He hasn't exactly done much for Obi.
Philc1 @ 3/16/2022 12:17 PM
Taj can take his place on the assistant bench next season

Woodson is a good coach but I think this year was largely the result of it not being a wierd year with no fans in the stands like last season. Also the Rose and Kemba injuries absolutely killed us

For the most part his work with Mitch is good and Sims come a long way this year since the start of camp.
Hard to quantify how good a job has done.
Johnny Bryant is loved by Dame and Donovan mitchell. If he has worked with RJ, he has done a great job!
IQ has come a long way from doing his microwave create foul game to more playmaking.
Grimes?
Deuce is still a project.
Not sure what the syllabus was for Cam and how we grade him.
As for Woodson being missed? Its really tough to answer.

Obi has been a mixed bag this season - improved yes but he obviously has a big blocker ahead of him. I watched some videos about Obi gaining mobility in his hips since joining the Knicks and how that has enabled him to be a better defender and shiftier on offense. Still, he needs more opportunity.

Noel was fantastic last season, but alas he’s been banged up all year. (Serves the Knicks right for giving big bucks to a big man with twigs for legs).

Not sure the timeline but Norlens might have come in out of shape and never got caught up?
Payne was a great recruiter as per the notes and did a great job at kentucky. Glad he got the gig!

Maybe now when a Louisville coach calls t promote a player we listen better! We passed on Donovan mitchell!

I see it similarly. I think he wasn't in great shape and he's always had health issues. By the time he was ready to contribute management likely got involved and said they wanted minutes to younger guys

Happy for Kenny. Sad for us.
