Wish Thibs would just start IQ and play him 35 minutes. Let these final 11 be his personal playoffs. Continuing with Burks is so stupid.

and yet IQ is only here turning the corner because Thibs stuck with him during that terrible extended stretch... remember when folks wanted him benched? "IQ isnt in a slump... he's just not that good"

Pepperidge Farms remembers...

This is called development, like it or not.

Not every player is ready to start and do well with those minutes and instantly be stable and productive enough to also not fuck up things that other players are trying to do.

Throwing stuff against a wall and hoping it sticks is not a well thought out process, cause that's what you are suggesting in essence.

you have GOT to give these guys time... especially PG. Many straight up studs took time to pop. Nash and Lowry had very slow starts. Heck IQ is much better than Brunson at the same age, and this is the guy half the dodos here want to run the ship.

I dont think Knick fans have ever seen a player develop here. We run them out for a couple weeks and they either have it or dont and its time to move on. That is just not how it works.

He’s looked more comfortable at PG last few games. He’s still a 2 and needs to play there next season as is the case with Burks

smackeddog @ 3/25/2022 5:41 AM
Nah, BRIGGS said he wasn't in a slump, he just wasn't good, so none of this can be happening
smackeddog @ 3/25/2022 5:43 AM
I do think the rules change at the start of the season caused problems for IQ- now he's adjusted AND the league has completely backtracked with foul calls, so it's helped unlock what was an important part of his game last season
Knixkik @ 3/25/2022 8:18 AM
Everyone needed to be more patient with IQ. He hit the sophomore slump and was a better fit alongside rose which didn’t happen much this year.
franco12 @ 3/25/2022 8:23 AM
IQ might be our single best player.

IMHO it's a benefit in hindsight that the Rose injury let IQ get more minutes with the ball in his hands.

patient as in make him wait behind Brunson for 4 years to see if he's starting material? I would rather play IQ and live with the mistakes than watch Trey Young drop 40 in another 4-1 first round exit while watching Brunson/Fournier checking other team's starting backcourt

Feel the same way as well. I just don't see the FVV that others see quite yet.

cause its not there. Brunson is a good BB player and has a nice role on offense. Knicks are a 30ish win team. Brunson is not moving that needle enough for all the downsides

You compare Brunson first three years in the league to FVV's and you can say there's enough evidence to say the comparison bis there. Different players. FVV is much more of an explosive shooter and Brunson is a smoother operator in the paint. But the trajectories are similar.

Disagree. Adding a competent starting pg can make a 10-15 win difference in todays nba

You mean like Derrick Rose? The 10-15 win difference you describe is the Knicks with Derrick Rose vs. the Knicks with guys who are not PGs.

Knicks sign Brunson
Knicks are better with good PG play in Brunson and Rose.
Thibs plays Brunson 30+ minutes a game!
IQ's playing time pinched. McBride doesnt see the floor.
Knicks lose in first found because any PG that goes up against the Knicks lights us up for 40
Knick fans turn on coach for playing Fournier and Brunson together and not playing McBride who's good on defense.
Its the coaches fault! We need a NEW COACH

Sorry midgets who cant stop anyone on the other team dont excite me. Just not my kind of player. Seen this movie play out over and over. Brunson is a good player but a low ceiling acquisition that ensures we are a first round caliber team while fans bitch about the coach not developing the 2nd rounders we drafted.

This is where we do the “is Brunson a Kyle Lowrey in the making” thing?
I generally agree about Midgets. But them Stout ones are a bit different. Duece has it. Now if he can just hit a fucking shot in the big show he can really improve his chances. He 21 and still green.
As for Brunson, is he really a defensive liability or is there a “Chemistry” thing to consider? Dallas has no rim protection and Luka Defense is not great either.
