6’8 with a nice wingspan estimated to be 7’0. Seems pretty athletic with good body control. Improving 3 pt shot (shooting 34% from 3, up from 24% last year. Has a quick bounce that gets him a decent number of blocks. Gets into the passing lane a bit for steals. Reminds me a bit of Shawn Marion.

Looks like a great player, but I am having a hard time understanding where this kid would play if we drafted him- we have RJ, Cam, Obi, Grimes.
I guess the FO is going to have to find a way to move some guys and find a PG that isn’t 30+ years old with a history of injuries.

One mock had him at 12, Tankathon has him going, and us taking Tyty Washington.
Hope we move up in the draft.

I have him slotting in as the SF. Probably fighting Cam for the 2nd unit. I kind of presume some changes are coming to get a veteran PG.
He has the right “feel” for me. The aggressiveness around the basket, the action on both sides of the ball. The body control. The length and wingspan. And the ability to contribute without the ball in his hands.
Bear in mind that McBride is pretty close to my ideal PG.

If we are going into next season with McBride as a key minute taker at pg, Thibs better play him major minutes the last 8 games.

We could use a big athletic 2 way 6-8 athletic sf. He’s got high end nba bounce and he’s young put together with great stats .
Look at his per and 40 min stats. He avg 17 but only played 24 min
BRIGGS@ 3/27/2022 9:15 PM
Looks like Jaylen Brown
Hopefully we still draft 10

Yeah, sometimes you just have to go best player on the board. This guy's potential is solid, but I think a few years off the bench would do him good. I wouldn't worry too much about fit at this point. The pacers didn't say no to Paul George because they already had Danny Granger. This team needs talent, first and foremost.

hes got great 3 man size super athletic better ball handler than keegan Murray bigger than the kid from arizona and johnny davis. Toronto scored on scottie perkins last draft---this is a form of the same player.

He has that demeanor I like. He wants to defend the ball. He wants to dunk the ball. That killer instinct that you need.

I did not see lsu play this year. I get hyped watching the Fresno states of the world for a choice 2 nd rd I missed this guy. But watching the tapes. He’s the real deal. Forget the dunks— he knows how to play basketball WITH the athletiscm AND ball handling. He’s not the pure shooter MurrY or the kid from Maryland is but he’s got more nba upside package.
Nice puff piece. A bit of insight into his career thus far.

What makes you say this?
Lots of scouting reports have this. On defense he’s fouled out like 7 times(on top of the fact that his motor defensively is very inconsistent). On offense it’s more forgivable, but he still has zero playmaking ability and often makes stupid drives. I also don’t buy his shot. He’s got a very solid handle at his size and is pretty good going downhill, but I kinda want more.

why draft this guy? Didn't we draft Cam Reddish and trade away a first for Cam to play SF here with RJ at SG?

1) Cam is probably better suited to the 2nd unit if he wants to have a more active role in the offense. I like Cam and would be happy with him in a starting role as a 3&D SF, but right now his 3 isn’t there yet and his defense isn’t there yet. We have 1 year of control left on Cam without certainty that he will pan out.
2) Tari Eason is happy in a second unit (he played 6th man despite being the best player on that team). I think he could develop into a starting SF with good defense and bounce, give that 3 a little time to develop. The length and athleticism is something I look for every year. And I am often not right, but two guys I liked last year were Jericho Sims and Greg Brown. Brown hasn’t moved the needle in Portland, but Sims is developing well here (except for that horrific FT%). I don’t think I am drafting Lebron James, but I can see a Kelly Oubre type player and that role works on this team. Collect talent.
3) None of the PGs in the lottery excite me. Open to being proven wrong. But I don’t think TyTy translates well. Of course if we get Jaden Ivey the dynamic changes totally. But I think the best PG for the Knicks with this roster is a 3&D. I think Eason is BPA at 12(?) and unlikely to actually be there. I think the Knicks collect BPAs in the form of long, athletic two way players.
