If anyone thought a team that consisted of Lebron James A Davis and R westbrook would be 17 games under .500 without season ending injuries raise your hand. This is with Lebron having one of his best stat years of all time

I think most everybody, with the exception of Laker fans, thought their season would be a trainwreck. And that's before anyone knew how badly Westbrook was going to hit the wall. From ab offensive standpoint, the team didn't make much sense and they took an aggressive turn for the worst on defense.
Certainly is a weird one.
Let's put this into perspective for the Knicks. For a good chunk of the season they have been without a PG and we can generously say the C position was either hurt or took more than half season to get into shape. AND the Knicks' best player shit the bed.
The Knicks are about 5 games within Brooklyn, Atlanta, Charlotte in the East.
That's like RJ making lots more FT's to win a few more games earlier in the season.

Or Kemba playing 7 less games.
Lakers success does not interest me nor does their failure.
The notion that Lakers did not make playoffs twice in the lebron era is all the rage but nobody talks about the chip they have?
Then of course use Jordan as the measure for everything.
I get it.
Lakers sold their soul for that chip and its a lesson that starphuck rings are not as valuable as organically grown ones.
I fear Dolan would do leverage the long term viabilty for a sugar rush run and then return with empty cupboard to a bad run.
Lakers gave away a lot to get Davis, Westbrook and cap space for Lebron.
If nets had won this year with its trio of Harden-KD-Kyrie they would not own the city. It would get them a lot of new young fans and raise the value of the franchise.
If RJ grows up, randle returns to some form, with our yoot, and found. A way to win a chip or two in a five year stretcch, how cool would that be? Warriors even with durant did it the right way. Milwaukee is relevant and heat culturally while uneven find a way to stay competitive thru rebuilds with draft as a core.
Heart of Lakers included Kuzma and Caruso. Yoot matters if you want a team with soul. Lakers had it, they went too far this year in losing it.
Spurs long run was due to manufacturing their own. Blue Chips Duncan and robinson were surroundedd by lower ones in Manu, Parker, Eliott, Mills, Horry, etc.

yup.. how about the Nets barely hanging on, or the Cavs exceeding expectations by 20 wins or so? How about Demar DeRozan getting told no by the Lakers and the Knicks only to be in the MVP discussion?
Last year was strange as well. The Knicks were a 4 seed.

Names and old aged player is a bad mix. Old players don’t play defense. The more and more I watch I realize this is a league for players 24-32.
Weren't the Fakers preseason favorites or just about? So I would term it a big shock.
No high road for me here -- I get pleasure albeit small from their demise. More so for Labronna's -- one of the greatest players of all time with severe douchebag tendencies (yes he's done a lot of good as well). I'll add that LA has been run the way many fans and media wanted the Knicks to be run.

I have to admit I love watching the Lakers lose.

Chris Paul says hello!
But I agree with you about having guys in that age band - highly athletic league - not like Baseball or hockey where guys can legit perform in their 40's if they are talented.

I think a lot of people thought it would be a train wreck.

Not according to Vegas -- LA was behind only the Nets as favorites, well ahead of the Bucks and Warriors.

As do a lot of media and fans. Which is why this is enjoyable.
I admit, although I felt they gave up a lot on the trade, I still had the Lakers in the Finals in the beginning of the season. Westbrook is capable of taking a mediocre team to the playoffs by himself, surely with Lebron and AD as his running mates, Lakers will be able to run over everyone.

I'm going to get killed for this, I put most of the blame on the Lakers coaching staff. I don't think they knew what to do AD/Bron & Westbrook other than throw them out there and play Basketball. I believe a coach like T. Lue or M. Williams would have given them specific roles and have a game plan in place.
I also thought Kemba would have a positive impact on the Knicks...wrong again. Also surprised Toronto has a 5th seed.
NOT SURPRISED about the Cavs. Back court is set and I loved the addition of Allen, not to mention, the drafting of Mobley
I was stunned that Lebron wanted Westbrook. Both are too ball dominant. Lebron wanted his Kyrie. Would have been better getting Lowry or similar.
Toronto has hard workers and also has real beast of a coach.

Chris Paul is but one the lakers are stacked with names who are defensive liabilities. I don’t think Suns would be that good with a bunch of names that are older in terms of basketball years.
The Lebron, Davis, Westbrook Lakers needed some young creative runners in their rotation like Quickley, Obi Toppin, and MitchRob defense to be a 3 or 5 seeded team in the West this season.
The Lakers have star veterans on the roster, their best bet is to take advantage of the 2022 NBA Draft.

YOu watch the Lakers play? LOL……….
At this juncture I stopped watching the knicks a few games now. Its spring here down south, time for renewal and I have to do my tennis work outs at night. Wife is into “billions” and we doing that. I watched a lot of knick games this season and its been fun.
LIke most of us I had them pegged over .500 and went too far on my record predictor but my conviction was tempered by pudits saying we’d struggle to make playoffs and .500. Its why Im not as upset as some other fans this year. I never thought Jules would be grumpy and have the season he did.
its not like im “I give Thibs one more year……..”.
No, he gets one more year free pass then I’ll question after three years where we at. There is much “Blame” to go around I don’t know where to point my fingers.
Im so not into the lakers or their problems.
My fandom is knick centric. If my team is not succeeding then someother team is . I don’t give a rats ass about the nets and if they win it all I won’t make me happy. Losing won’t make me so either.
I used to hate the Celtics. Years of abuse from them and years of Paul Pierce scowl. Now? How can anyone hate Udaka? Brown? Tatum? Smart? We have no rivalry with them or anyone really. We had a bit with ATL from last season which was fun. Those games mattered.
Perhaps the Play in games will be fun and naturally playoffs can become interesting with various plot twists.
Lakers out? They have 17 chips. Lebron and Davis have one. Sucks for them? Ok. Fans disappointed? They’ll get over it.
49 Years since we got our second. Im down for a third but please no starphuch sugar rush ones. At this moment I want RJ, Randle,, DRose with Thibs, and the rest of this team to climb that mountain! Evan Too!!!!! Ok, as many possible then. I know most of them won’t get us there. Changes will come. Some might hurt, some might be a mistake, and some will be fortuitous we did not see coming.
It’s not strange. People get old. These “superteams” are mostly made up of older superstars and many of them divas like Kyrie and KD who take entire months off during the season
Lebron is old. Davis is aging faster than he should because he’s another spoiled diva who never works out in the gym and is poorly conditioned
The lakers and nets remind me a lot of the early 2000 Jail Blazers teams that had names everywhere and couldn’t even get past the first round
