I keep seeing him just above us--what can we do to move up just a tad to get him>???

I think you are looking at Portland or Sacramento because I don't think he makes it past Indiana.

Knicks would be best suited to use the connections to him to steer him to the team by limiting workouts, health reports, interviews etc. his draft handler is Barrett’s former handler. He obviously has the Kentucky connection, although he didn’t play. This plus offering the Dallas 2023 pick to move up to maybe 7 or 8 is the way to get him , but his representation would have to play the game.
SergioNYK@ 5/28/2022 10:11 AM
The only way we can move up is by trading RJ and I'm not doing that.

I think we have assets to get into the 7-8 range. 11, or the Mavs pick, maybe Rokas. 3-4 spots up isn’t insane. Especially when you consider this has been considered a weaker draft or a flat draft.
BRIGGS@ 5/28/2022 4:54 PM
Ny sends Indiana pick 11 2022 Mavs pick 2023 Rokas and Grimes for picks 6(sharpe) and pick 31 (Kennedy Chandler)
EwingsGlass@ 5/28/2022 10:43 PM
I’d move a lot of things to end up with Sharpe and Eason in the draft and Mo Bamba in free agency while keeping Robinson. That Randle to Portland trade seems the most likely if Sharpe somehow last past Indiana. They kind of need a big.

I might.
blkexec@ 5/28/2022 11:54 PM
Did I hear he purposely skipped out on certain combine activities if not all? Sounds like agent is trying to angle him to NY. Why not. With NYs Kentucky connection and marketing potential in NYC, falling to the 11 spot is great for both sides. I feel like there’s something going on and he might fall because nobody has any college game footage on him.

I didn’t forget him, Burks, Noel, Walker, Rose or Gibson. Doesn’t even mean they don’t have a place on the roster. It just means that I want this young core and will spend the season complaining about the listed youths not getting playing time.
Rose and Gibson will always have a place on Thibs team. I would pay those two until they are 40 to be role models and guide the younger players. They will be the benchmark for earning minutes. But I don’t think they will be healthy all year round.
Rose Fournier Burks Gibson Noel can absolutely be the vets the youths need to earn their minutes from. If Barrett doesn’t improve his eFG, he might find himself with less shots. Maybe he and Randle can’t co-exist. But his .466 eFG doesn’t make me want to run the offense through him. A guy like Shaeden Sharpe might take that role fast.
I’m with Briggs even though he always ignores my existing threads on the same player and starts his own.

Well I trust RJ work ethic and growth. He can definitely be the main guy. And I’m sure he will work on his weaknesses in the off season. RJ is not the most skilled but he’s a big body hard worker that plays downhill. His play style can lead to inefficiency but it opens the floor to the shooters every time RJ collapse the defense. Not sure if there’s a stat for that.
I never had confidence in RJ and Randle playing together. Even on paper before they played a single game together, I was like two inefficient lefties taking up the same space and taking the most shots. With them two being the core, it’s going to be difficult to build a contender around them unless RJ takes a major step forward and Randle goes back to allstar Randle. But right now I can’t put my finger on it but they just didn’t flow well. Both are inefficient volume shooters who take the most shots. Both are average defenders (below average during Randles temper tantrum or ref complaining). RJ says and tries to be a top defender which I like. I love all 2 way players which is why I’m a huge deuce fan. Yes his offense is nonexistent but I still believe in his 2 way impact. But RJ wants to guard the top guy and take the last shot. How can you not like that in a young player?
For example IQ and Obi are amazing together and it spreads throughout the team. That’s why I want to see them get more playing time together regardless is IQ starts or not (he should be the starter).
Play the yoots thibs. And keep the vets as mentors. EF is a different kind of vet. He wants starter mins and he wants to start. And his defense is average at best to below average. He doesn’t get enough offense flow or shots to cover up his defensive weaknesses. Off the bench is a perfect role for him. The question is will be embrace that role?

Do you really think that an edited practice video is a good barometer for HOF comparison?
Not to mention Sharpe will go top 8. Draft success is a Lotto ticket. This year's odds are probably the lowest in quite some time. I'll put my $2 dollars on Malaki Branham.Who I feel has a more realistic chance of being in our range. Don't be shocked if we stick to Kentucky connection and pick Ty Ty.

After all these years why not make an all out attempt to grab a draft difference maker? If not I’m content at 11. Not with the two u mentioned

All things being equal, if the Knicks were to somehow move into #4 spot, I think they go Ivey.
I think they are going to try

I agree with you on Ty Ty, Briggs. He'd be a reach at a 11 and it's not clear if he's even a PG at the NBA level. Branham is growing on me. Smart player, knock down shooter on the spot, can manipulate the PnR some. Has 6'10 wingspan and decent athletic numbers. He's worth exploring.
Nalod@ 5/29/2022 2:22 PM
Sharpe likely has a promise in place? Hindsight when we DIDN”T trade up is easy. What about players that don’t pan out in NBA and you trade up? You fucked the franhise big time. “Why couldn’t we move up to get Steph back in the day?” Cuz he went 7th and superstadom was not a given! I’d even guess with his ankle issues we’d thrown him in the melo deal. Then there was the price that was being asked? Was it too high? Not if you know the end result as we can say now. These things are indefensible in hindsight. Its not a debate. Its real.
Im believe we have assets to move up but how far? This daft is very even and teams can use this to gather more by moving down. Including us!!!!!
Im sure Rose and Perry have tasked Aller to paint many scenarios.

The probability of getting a "Real difference" maker is the problem. Just look at all the hyped up pre draft picks that have flopped. The other issue is what you would consider trading for that small probability?

The other issue is the draft board hasn't even been close to being solidified at this point. It's risky trading up at this point, not that I think the Knicks have the right pieces to do it. What if you end up moving up to 7, only for you targeted guy to go at 4?
