For me naturally the Hoya pick Ewing, I was out my 2nd college degree, rest Was history. Almost NBA Champions
Ewing pick may be for many of us here on forum Board.
DO you know since Knicks 69 - 72 championship teams there are also over 25 Knicks & former Knicks whom won NBA ring titles on other NBA Teams.
Success in NBA is having chance to play for NBA conference titles, to reach finals. Regardless of not winning NBA trophy.
I was way too too young when draft of Frazier, Reed was picked as Knicks though a youth fan then.

The only player I was ever excited for was Greg Anthony. I remember watching that UNLV/DUKE championship on TV with my cousins and thinking how bad ass that whole UNLV team was.
I was curious when the Knicks drafted the FSU QB a couple of years later but aside from those two, there hasn't been a Knick pick that excited me.

Yeah I went nuts when they picked Ewing. It really felt like we received the golden goose. What we got was a great career giving us a great if imperfect era. Hopes were very high and not fully met but I wouldn’t say I was disappointed at all - so persnickety posters needn’t jump on “NY fans’ expectations….”

I was at the draft when the Knicks selected Mark Jackson and he proved to be a quality pick and turned the Knicks around his rookie season. I was also excited when we drafted G. Anthony, J. Wallace and K.Walker but they all didn't turn out that well.

Maciej Lampe was a steal at 30. Don't forget Slavko Vranes.
Seriously, there were way more headscratchers than exciting picks. Jordan Hill. Renaldo Balkman. Even Channing Frye.
Nate and Lee were moderately exciting picks. But not game changers.
I think after the aforementioned Ewing and Mark Jackson has to be Strickland.

I attended that one live as kid at MSG. I remember Greg talking a little trash to Kenny Anderson after he got drafted and the crowd errupting. We should've drafted Terrell Brandon But Greg was a solid player. Ran into Tark the Shark that night. Clearly my most memorable draft.

I was too young to remember Ewing but I admit I got excited over John Wallace, Maciej Lampe, Sweetney and Frye.

I having dinner with my future inlaws and we drafted Ewing that night . Remember thinking “great< I took a job in North Carolina and now we get a stud!”.
It was the first lottery and exciting. I remember going to a game his rookie year and blown away by his offensive game as was most of us. He was better than expected! Funny how he evolved to be better known later in his career as a scorere than the defensive demon he was drafted.
The KP draft was the most fascinating because he came later given his euro roots and no March madness hype. A guy with SF skills at that size with the Triangle gods to guide the way……….All so promising at that time. That Philly took Oka4 was a bit of suprise.
When I saw the boy crying it was telling of the moment. High risk and reward.
Oka4’s big ass vs. KP’s undesized one. Both failed.

Was Lee Nailon our draft pick?

Wallace being such a big bust was surprising. Everyone loved him coming out of Syracuse and he did show potential his rookie year. And then Van Gundy asked him to be start in game 7 because of the suspensions and he self destructed
Sweetney was a 100% lock to bust. Undersized, no talent trash. Ditto for Lampe
