He reminds me too much of Carmelo - hugely talented player that doesn't make the team better.

Right, with a side order of Flat Earther

Definitely; they're almost exactly the same player. Minus the clutch gene, minus the ability to drag teams to the playoffs, minus any slap blocks, minus the ability to show up to actually use that huge talent.

I was a fan of that round house bitch slap blocking technique

Like Carmelo, Kyrie is not perfect but he is the better player of the two.
Truly believe Kyrie would be beloved by Knicks fans because the dude is straight up cold blooded and can win games by himself. Would also make a great story every time he goes up against the Nets. Kyrie and Ben Simmons both need the ball in their hands, so do not see that as a match; despite his friendship with the best player in the world, KD.
.. challenge ? for league MVP. The Dude Irving cannot simply even play in 70% of 82 NBA Games schedule
how about 65% of NBA season games ? For all the $$$ Irving commands why risk that investment? This man made his money$ NBA rings are the least of Kyrie's concern.
Fantastic talent Irving but the risks outweighs the NBA rewards of success.

It did make a statement for low-level energy defense without having to jump, didn't it?
And I wasn't even going to mention the jumping into the folding chair one-time hustle thing. Has Kyrie ever jumped into a chair? I mean during a game, not when he was trying to avoid vaxxing.
I look at Kyrie and I see someone who is honest. It costs him and his team to be that honest, but he'd not hiding. He has positions I don't agree with, like his sage burning and the vaccine positions. But he shows his mental and owns it. He uses mental health days when he can't perform. I am alright with that. I don't need to kick the guy. He has tremendous talent and maybe his "honesty" isn't a team first attitude we expect from professional basketball players. But he appears to be owning the consequences of that too. He owned the inability to play without a vaccine.
I can appreciate people not wanting those mental health concerns on our team. For me, I don't think it will detract from his effectiveness in the long term. If I had a Hall of Fame player 60 games a year instead of 82, I'd be ok. We kind of have that in Rose. It then becomes a question of cost. I can't commit assets and 45mm to a guy that shows up 60 games a year (I don't think the pandemic DNPs repeatable). But that doesn't mean there isn't some price I would pay. I think this is a buy low situation. Man, Ben Simmons landed Harden for Philly. At his best he is a top 10 player in the league. Knicks should be looking at everything until they find a stud.
If the Nets are willing to trade him to the Knicks and accept Fournier & draft picks, you make the trade. Even if you have Kyrie for one year, you free up extra year on Fournier’s contract.

I know he's talented and one of best players in the league. Still, can't do it. Plus, there was a reason he decided to avoid the Knicks. Even he knows in his heart that he'd be overwhelmed.
Kyrie can’t cut it here and we already have our PG
This might be more of moving on from Fournier, but Kyrie is such a great shooter. Defense would be an issue though.
If not, Grimes would be the guy to start next to Brunson in the back court.
