I would wait until there is an actual situation before trading either. Obi is yet to prove he is a starting-quality player in this league, let alone the Knicks' future. Scoring 20 pts three games in a row while playing against other teams' reserves in meaningless end of season games proves nothing.
But if someone offers us a KD or a DMitch in exchange for either of them + first round pix, then hell yeah.
If randle returns to form, the assumption is he will fall again so we "Sell high", like a stock?
But if he returns to form and we winning, why move him?
Why is there a need to a solution if there is yet to be a material issue?
Fact is we keep talkinng about "one great, two bad" like he is a tennis or golfer where individual talent is the key. Year was RJ rookie year, Fiz makes it about half way, and Mike Miller take over.
Then, Steve Mills is fired and Leon comes in and hires Thibs and the love starts.
Last year was not the god awful year the Fiz was. Lets stop pretending we know the issue of why he was salty.
"Thibs Loves him". All good, but Thibs loves winning more. Im confident the adults and the pro's knows the gig and will fix it. My jury is out.
there is no situation. Obi isnt really close to threatening Randle for minutes, sorry guys. It doesnt match the Knick fan emo these days as many of you are fully invested in "Randle was a jerk last year so he must be a bad teammate and terrible for chemistry"
Tell you right now Randle is NOT ahead of Brunson. Thibs has coached with Brunson's pop for decades and Leon was Rick's first agent and his son rep's Jalen. This is actually a GOOD thing because is there is one thing Jalen is NOT it's entitled. He's gonna play hard every night, run through every screen, challenge every jumper, be in the right places... every thing coaches love.

who is telling him that? Because it would seem the FO watching the Dallas game with Randle might have sent him (Randle) a different message.
I do agree with you, and think Brunson is going to be a positive impact on performance, and effort, both sides of the ball, should improve next year.
We worried about who is bat man?
RJ is the caped crusader! Brunson should take the reigns as who is the Quarterback but the offense can flow thru a few heads for now.
Was watching 7 min of RJ highlights and plenty of passing from Jules in them. Yes, they were highlights but Randle was pushing the ball up and fed RJ.
I would expect the better our guys get the roles will change. I hope they pay RJ and all are happy so they can grow together.
As for OBI, he can control what he can and play well!
Should be fun.

Agree that Obi probably wont be pushing Randle out of the starting lineup. But I do believe Obi has a chance to take some of Randle's minutes. He's been a league leader in minutes since Thibs got the job.
If Obi is showing that there wont be a noticeable dropoff in production, I could see Thibs taking some of the load off of Randle.
Randle looked like he ran out of gas by the time of our first round exit. Looking forward to seeing if Obi has taken the nezt step.
Crazy and overly optimistic scenarios, Randall gets his three point shot to fall at 35 percent or more, and hustles on defense he gets time at the 3. Randall looks like he lost weight and who knows plays 10 minutes at the 3 a game against bench 3s. Those ten minutes allow Obi to play more. Crazy take

There already is a situation. Obi isn’t getting the minutes he needs to be successful. The only thing that hasn’t happened yet is Randle hasn’t had a total public meltdown yet because Thibs had been giving him whatever he wants

Tell us more about your childhood…………
Obi played 17 minutes per game last year up from 11 minutes per game in his rookie season. He positively developed from year 1 to year 2 so why can't he continue to improve his game while coming off the bench next season?
Teams need the talent to win and obviously, Obi has talent. I don't see anything wrong with him getting increased minutes next season and continuing to improve his game which will improve the team's play.
Obi is the only true PF on the team besides Randle so how is having a developing young PF playing behind Randle a bad thing?

because emo Knick fans dont like grumpy pants Randle so he's gotta go so we need to manufacture a narrative to make that make sense. Everything is perfect. It will be really hard for Obi to get more minutes and it is what it is. If he's playing hot he hopefully get longer runs or play some small ball 4/5 with Randle but we have 3 centers and Thibs like's playing one of them.
Obi's got 2 more years under his rookie deal for us to see just how good he's gonna be.

LOL: “Emo Knick fans”…………
Reading comments about “Randle can’t handle East coash/NYC pressure”.
Maybe some of us are not cut out to be knick fans as we can’t handle a future uncertain? Hey, its not easy but this emotional sensitivity about randle is kind of funny stuff.
Smallest of small sample sizes, but still...
I believe they consider themselves more Goth than Emo, LOL.
Wasnt just Randle's interaction with the fans that wasnt a good look. It was getting a new contract, and not coming back with the same effort level. Thibs, the last few seasons has been playing Randle more than anyone else in the league. Got to be taxing. Dont have to be Goth or Emo to see that Randle should'nt be playing so many minutes , and Obi should get more, as CashMoney alluded to. He's ready for increased PT. Showed that to close the season.

To stretch a guy 6 years with 4 left on his contract is so wrong at so many levels. Please explain for those not so gifted with your beautiful mind.

By next February you will have all the answers you need.

Not sure about the contract demotivating him as a world class athlete who put up his stats is far from lazy. I agree that he should be playing less and desire that he be more efficient. Many players like we saw with Mook can put up good numbers when given the ball. I want to see him round out his game and my hope is with a solid PG or two he can tighten things up. At the same time Thibs to get Obi more minutes to continue his growth. I don’t think OBI is being held back but he grew. Im splitting hairs but the point is he earned those minutes THEN delivered. Also they are basketball players and like to see where perhaps Randle can slide to the 3 and play with OBI. If iHart can high post pass with cutters that creates movement. If Jules won’t move, jules sits. iHeart brings a new dimension to second unit.
Best case is Randle plays well and is a valuable trade chip if Obi surges to improve the PF spot and team sees a future with him and has to pay him.
