Can't say I watched the Lakers' games last season. But his is an efficient vet. Gonna be an old 38. But he still managed 26 mins a game with really good efficiency. I think having him around the clubhouse would be a boon. I understand if he wants to join a contender and make 1 more run for that ring, but I think adding him to Rose and Gibson as the vets around the clubhouse would be amazing. And in any future trades or movements, you know you have a guy that can slot in and be effective at either SF or PF. Cam Reddish loses by this move and I kind of want to give him his shot, but of all people, I think Cam might benefit the most from having Melo in his ear.

I’m pretty neutral on Carmelo. Not excited about him but not flipping my lid if he showed up. Would seem primarily a PR move if it happened. And playing for Thibs - did his defensive intensity improve in the past several years?

I look at the 2 & 3 positions together on the Knicks as you have guys who can swing to both positions. You add Anthony as a SF - how are you working him into the rotation, how will he impact the defensive schemes and who's minutes is he taking?
- RJ, Fournier, IQ, Grimes, Cam
My thoughts are that if the Knicks are able to move Randle or Fournier.......then bringing in Carmelo would make more sense to plug in minutes at the 3 or 4.

If we looked on paper like a contender, wanted to bring Melo along for the ride..sure. Any other way, and I see Melo making waves if the team isnt playing well, and he doesnt believe he's getting enough PT.
He was the starter here for so long, might not be easy for him to adjust to a new role, in NY.

Yeah. I feel he'd be a better fit on a team like Clippers or Milwaukee. I would've said Brooklyn, but I wouldn't wish that on anybody now.

This is dumb a55 mentality. If the "vet" is better than the "kid", the vet should play. Its about putting the best team out to WIN.
With that being said....I also say no, only because Melo has a good chance of reaching 30k career points and he won't be able to do it in New York. BigDaddyG mentioned Milwaukee. If he doesn't return to the Lakers, I think that would be a great spot for him.
In all honesty, his retirement run should be in Denver though

He is signing with Celtics. Melo no.15 will be retired for Jokic who wears it and two time MVP. Maybe dolan who is not not married wants to date LA LA?
I have no issue with Melo and doubt he’d make any noise as there should be prerequisite role for him and understanding on both sides. That said he should stay in LA and continue with that team. Given our timeline and roster he’d be a mascot of sorts. If thats all it is and he cool with it, so be it. team will boo knicks and chant for him to play. I think he should be in the rotation but not here. If not, maybe time to hang it up?

We just watched this with Kemba Walker- home town hero who's washed up, returns home, Thibs feels like he has to give him certain minutes, but he's washed and terrible on defense. We're objectively worse with him on the court, but we're now stuck having to play him over younger, more effective players, until eventually he has to get benched and bought out. No thanks!
