Knowing the Knicks they will trade the Mavs pick. If this draft is as strong as you say teams will start going into firesale mode come December. I can’t see them taking on two rookies…. Maybe one but two would be a headache.

Now for their own pick (that they can’t straight up trade until draft night) I could see them grabbing a wing as Reddish insurance. Even though he is a RFA a team might make a large offer like the Lakers that will have money and are ran by Reddish’s Own agency Klutch.

Have you learned anything about this FO? They have been purposely targeting this draft class.

I really don’t see it. I get the draft is good, but this is a FO that has only moved back and moved out of the draft. Plus Thibs is in the hot seat this season. They need to make a playoff push. His draft being good means teams are more likely to go fire sale mode and sell on good players for cheap.

Plus even if they consolidate the roster I still think they are a 10 men deep going into FA. That is also ignoring the draft and stash Rokas… which honestly could be a interesting approach. I could see them grabbing a high upside euro player and letting another team develop them.

by not getting Donovan Mitchell, we already are. We're a Brunson injury away from the deep lotto. We may be #13 in the east according to some projections.

Go Knicks!

So what's the deal with all of these protected 1st round picks we've amassed over the next few years? Basically we only get to use them is if the original owners are top 5-8 teams? Otherwise they eventually turn into 2nd rounders?

Sit back. Let’s let them play 20-25 games and see what’s here. No necessity to think about 23 draft one way or another. Knicks probably burning a hole in their pocket w picks but they need to forget they’re there. It also gives us a chance to look at prospects from a far. Possibly take the finger off the trade trigger. We just need to be in evaluation mode

A catastrophe would be Brunson going down AND Rose going down. The thing about Rose is that he's basically been a fragile player for a decade who still plays with reckless abandon in my post-prime state. He's an injury waiting to happen.

Quickley is likely more prepared for PG duty than ever before, but that doesn't mean he's ready for a full time gig either.

Do we expect the Knicks to play differently from last year? Well, we added Rick Brunson as an assistant coach and lost Kenny Payne. Desagana Diop is our G-league coach this year. I could see Brunson Sr as a good player mentor for Quickley and the other young guards - as he was able to achieve a long NBA career with sub-optimal physical tools. He also taught his $100m son the game of bball - also possessing suboptimal physical tools. Hoping that rubs off on Quickley and McBride.

Oh my gawd tank babies are already at it.

No way the Knicks tank. Rose’s and Thibbs’ jobs are on the line this year. Team has to make the playoffs and has to do better than a 4-1 exit in the first round. Rose should be able to turn two first round picks into at least on quality player. We probably trade one of the picks for a future draft and use the other pick for a wing or PF. It is tough to move up, but that also may become an option depending on where our picks land. The double draft is probably going to be 2024, but the 2023 draft looks solid even if it is not a double draft.

We don’t have the right coach or roster for that. We have a lot of guaranteed money in the starting lineup and if Fournier comes off the bench, that’s more guaranteed money off the bench.

The only version of tanking we could do, would start with replacing thibs with a young no name coach. Then trade the vets. That’s a lot and not going to happen now.

So enjoy the ride until mid season trade rumors kick up again. We have a savy FO and picks. I’m sure they will and already have a tank trade or 2 in their pocket if this season goes south. And a playoff trade for a disgruntled star player that may help us in the playoffs. These guys are definitely very calculated in their moves or non moves.

Buckle up

I really like that opener. Those two teams were real chippy last year when they played. I think they both will really go at each other to try and get that 1-0 season record.

I like facing teams that are supposed to be good. As Barkley said, first 15 games of the season, bad teams don’t realize their supposed to be bad yet.

If next year's draft turns out to be the double draft alot are hoping for should the knicks package their pick and Dallas if conveying to move up in the draft or just pick two prospects?

I think the knicks are better off developing their own instead of waiting for the next disgruntled star to ask for a trade only to be asked to give up everything to secure the star.

With the current roster being almost 2-3 deep in all positions what should the knicks look for in next year's draft? Maybe a SG or a good wing? What if Cam, Grimes and IQ take a step or two forward? What will the need be?

It’s been talked about some, double draft will be in 2024 draft at earliest. Still negotiating it

The double draft won't be anytime soon. It was reported that teams would be pissed that they traded picks before they knew of it's increased value. If I can find it I will post. It was reported a couple days ago.
