Seems a bit one dimensional too me. He's been a good shooter this season, but I question his defense and ability to create and attack closeouts.

Reminds me of rip Hamilton

My picks with the Mavs pick

Jackson Davis feels like a thibs pick. A senior and pf

I don’t see it with Jackson Davis.

Reminds me some of Jahlil Okafor - big college pts/RBs/blk stats but…..

- who is he guarding at NBA level?
- appears to have lead feet.
- what position does he play — too slow to play the 4 and at 6’9” not a 5.
- Can he shoot outside 5 feet?

Maybe way too harsh but college game is crap these days and completely different vs NBA.

Yup

So expect more trading of our pic for a conditional future pic ? Or trade the pic for a young veteran along with Fournier and/or with Obi ?
Alpha1971 @ 3/20/2023 7:38 AM
If we get a pick between 11-14 from the Mavs I am trying to trade for Tari Eason from or another versatile young player who can play D. Offer the pic to Brooklyn along with a future pic or two for Cam, the one they got from Phoenix in a sign and trade with matching salary like Evan or Rose with Deuce. Or trade the pic with Deuce and Sims and contract match for Grant. This Dallas pick might come in handy. Along with Deuce and Sims. Plus Evans and Roses contracts. I think they extend Rose just to be able to trade his contract and he likely is an unofficial coach off the bench

I do think Knicks look to package pick(s) with players for a legit NBA player.

I keep thinking about Lou Dort because seems like Thibs would play him and he would improve our D.

Watched UConn 2x over weekend hoping to be excited by J Hawkins for our pick but while he got hot a few times I came away thinking he can’t defend, is thinner than ideal, and he showed ZERO handle and drive game.

He also disappeared completely in the 1st half’s of each game - zero points combined.

Lightening quick release but otherwise reminded me negatively of RJ Hampton

No to too short 6-3 lu Dort

Yeah he doesn’t really have much outside of the shooting unfortunately. Just hasn’t rounded his game as much as I was hoping.

The 2 most Thibsy players in our draft range are Kris Murray and Colby Jones. Upperclassman, nba ready. Murray brings the shooting and rebounding and can play both forward spots. Jones is a wing who can handle the ball, defend, shoot and rebound. He’s this draft’s Grimes in terms of experienced player on a deep tournament team. And he’s very similar to both Josh Hart and Alec Burks. I can see Thibs loving a second unit of Quickley, Hart, Colby Jones, Barrett (playing 4 with the second unit) and Hartenstein. So much versatility, pace, and high activity.
Nalod @ 3/20/2023 3:34 PM

I'll play devils advocate..........
Team can get lucky too in this draft and pick a stud who exceeds its draft position.
It happens.
Teams might also value a Grimes or IQ as they are bonafide at this level with upside. Team with a need might see it smart to trade down.
For knicks to do so it will have to have a strong conviction on a certain player. Fans might hate this idea until it proves otherwise valid.
That could take a while. Donovan Mitchell was a revelation from the get go but Giannis took a few years.

Mock draft has us taking Sidy Cisoko at 18.

Not too excited about the guy. Only 6’9 wingspan for a 6’7 player. Not a great shooter

blkexec @ 3/22/2023 12:27 PM
The 6’8 freshman is a spectacular athlete and was able to impact the game without scoring.

- Julian Phillips

Whitehead is an interesting piece for the reasons mentioned. Knicks could swing for him as a higher upside player. Concern is he’s too much like reddish. But he’s at least a more proven shooter.

Surprised no mention of Colby jones, although I could have missed it. Seems like a thibs pick. He’s having a great tournament and is so similar to Josh hart. Would give the Knicks another well-rounded wing, although not much upside. But he can easily turn into a Josh Hart/ Alec burks, Brogdon, Derrick white type multi-dimensional playmaking wing.

If the Knicks are looking for a long term fit over Barrett, Whitehead is a swing at the fences though. Similar athletic profile, better shooter.

Jordan hawkins is all over the place but 41 is ridiculous. When he gets to private workouts he will show prob the best jumper in the entire field. He also has a 40 inch vertical. He might need 1 year or 2 for developmental reasons but just like u can’t teach size his jumper is gold
If hawkins has big games in final four watch for a meteoric rise. He never had the 40 point game he’s capable of

For wings I see us going Jones, Hawkins or Whitehead depending on where on the scale of nba ready and potential the Knicks want to go.

Murray and Hendricks are combo forwards again with Murray on the more nba ready side and Hendricks more on the upside but less ready side.
