Knicks · THey will laugh regardless……… (page 1)
Leon the professional and his brain trust are not like the past. Isiah went big then had to go home and left a mess.
Phil went on Triangle gut and his timing/vision was not awful, it was mistimed and badly executed. He had to go.
Mills was a bandaid.
They all did some good things and at least neither of the last two did anything horrible. Noah was the worst of Phil era.
But lets be real, if we don’t get DonMitch media will go all in and say “another one lost”. If we get him “typical, we over paid”. many here will argue back and forth and bring forth Melo and that era as some sort of justification either way. We make playoffs but not title we in hindsight blame Leon or thibs, or what ever.
As I read we are over valuing Grimes but undervaluing RJ? For sure we are with Randle if he sticks. We just assume the bug up his ass stays and grows. OBI meanwhile is the fresh face of goodness who is not as good as 19 year old Amrare was. IQ is just our go to feel good kid.
I’m fine if we do nothing and let this all gel. I’m good if we get DonMitch too. The picks we been hoarding would be impossible to actually draft and develop. We have to burn them at some point.
Leon, Perrin, Wes, Perry, Zannin, and Aller vs. some of us and our opinions. Lets say it’s PhilC? He seems to be cut of certain type of fan. More reactive than a long range thinker or one who considers what he does not know. Insults aside, he is very much like many. They too will be critical eitehr way. Media caters to this for views. Tell them what they want to hear. The proof is played on the court. Not on paper.
You will need more than one season to really know if:
BRunson
Donova
RJ
Randle
MitRob
Will work. And the bench as always plays a critical role. Fact is that we can get DonMitch and Brunson while not giving up our core is amazing!!!!
But not all agree that one season removed All NBA Randle is a good thing and can’t vision going from first option to 4th is cool. In the above you have likely Brunson more as PG duties with less shooting. RJ becomes 2nd-3rd option.
He was developing as 1st after January. Now its prime time baby. Pay him and let him be. This team then has its core signed and should be bought into winning.
This will take more than one season. Media and negative dudes, and they are among will go off on first month if they are not flying out of the gate. Then its retreat city while OBI, Grimes or IQ lose in Utah but put up nice numbers and we do the “WE should have kept them”. Media will feed you your discontent. Why? Its the easy way.
I like Grimes a lot. One or two of IQ, OBI, Grimes likely goes. McBride? He too has this fan club here. Im not there as I am trying to not get too attached. RJ I am all in on as its been three seasons. Contract wise I see Cam staying and we take the risk of his development. One has to take on risk.
Price we pay? Too high? We’ll as much as I’d like to see Ainge eating pancakes and looking stupid it will be years to know who wins or not. He will wheel and deal and may create something special with our help. Bottom line is if knicks win and we have fun then “price is only an issue in the absence of quality”. By that, DonMitch can reach a new level and the chemistry has to aggregate up beyond the sum.
Great teams have great players. Great players are not great until they accomplish. There are stat guys like Melo, who is a great player and to be fair we forget its a 5 man game and carrying a franchise like Lebrun did for years is a very rare commodity. He too, like Jordan and Kobe needed help and chemistry.
This proposed trade puts a very good talent on the floor. No super tier one players. Predictions? Can’t do this now. We are young with upside if this goes down. Odds are one really takes off, one stays the same, one tails off a bit.
Who that’s is?
It gets sorted on the court!!!!

If Briggs can start one with every 12th synapse I can bring out a subject about how stupid media plays the fan.
NY post today: The unsightly Knicks history that explains their urgent pursuit of Donovan Mitchell

Top-20 NBA players aren’t available every year. It’s even more rare for an elite player to want to join the Knicks. In the past two decades, the only established stars to seek that spotlight had emotional ties to the area (Carmelo Anthony, Stephon Marbury, Joakim Noah) or unmatched compensation (Amar’e Stoudemire). It has been more than 11 years since the Knicks traded for Anthony, and it could be another decade before the Knicks have the opportunity to land a talent like Donovan Mitchell — a Westchester native — again.
There are four ways to land an NBA star: 1) Draft with a high pick, 2) Luck into an unknown/underrated commodity — like Giannis Antetokounmpo or Nikola Jokic — with a non-lottery pick, 3) Offer a highly desirable destination, 4) Via trade.
PhilC:
"Huh?
No talk about fit, how the team might get on. Just the starphuchedness of getting an allstar.
We do letter grades before draft night was even over before anyone can wrap their head around fact that there was something happening but it was not clear.
So a post about media attention and sports journalism. Not "wow, look at this undrafted Summer league dude, I can see him being the next..........."

It's not even the laughing that bothers me anymore, it's the group-think, complete lack of critical thought, the pretend ignorance act ("Oh we don't understand how they could/couldn't do that!"), the lying in the articles (when they deliberately leave out key information like the fact we got 3 firsts back in the draft day trades) and the shameless client journalism (where essentially they're just writing whatever their sources want them to spin in exchange for exclusive access to that message- i.e. the exact opposite of what journalist is meant to be) that annoys me.
