If he is in the second unit, I have no complaints at all. I think his shooting keeps him in many starting lineups, but his defense is costly.

Rookie Grimes vs rookie RJ Rarrett ???
Grimes has showed more potential as a wining player on both sides of the court than rookie Barrett at the SG position.
Grimes team-ball performance and court vision of his teammates on offense needs much improvement however, it's poor and the same as RJ Barrett's performance in Barret's 2nd & 3rd season in the NBA.
Grimes could use a veteran SG mentor throughout his 2nd season in the NBA.

Grimes DEFENSIVE performance are why the Knicks drafted Grimes. When the Knicks had a great defensive SG in Frank.

Ok, point taken. How does the saying go? Different folks different strokes...
Grimes showed a lot his rookie season. Other teams will have scouted him by now. He has to show that he can handle the increased attention. I believe Grimes will make the necessary adjustments. Might not happen right away, but Im confident he will get there. Not afraid to be aggressive.

I felt like last year he could score when people weren't paying him much attention.
Now, he will need to show he can score even if the defense is focused on him. Hopefully he can make that adjustment

If Grimes is in the starting lineup, he will be the 4th option. So I believe the defense can not focus on Grimes, when you have 3 volume shooters (Brunson, RJ, Randle) and a lob threat in Mrob. So I believe Grimes will help open the floor for those guys. EF will play the same role and position.
If Donovan comes over, Grimes will come off the bench and the you might be right, Grimes will be the focal point in that secondary unit and defense will focus on him more.....

Houston was very tight his first season here. The big contract and playing in NY got to him and then he settled down and got better
Houston was excellent at creating his own shot. Grimes I haven’t seen it yet except in summer leagues facing mostly G-league fodder but who knows maybe he blossoms into that type of a player. Grimes did shoot well last season like you said which is encouraging

I don’t see him supplanting Fournier from starting lineup at least at the beginning of the season. The FO wants to justify Fournier’s contract. That said Grimes either way is definitely in the rotation
