I believe once KD is traded for a package less than the Gobert trade, the bar will be set back to its normal level. The Gobert trade was a timing thing. Right when Utah wanted to trade Gobert, Minny was starving for a missing link on the defensive end. Somebody that can help Cat on the defensive end, without taking away Cats offensive attempts. So Gobert might be an over pay for some, but he could be exactly what Minny needed.
The KD trade (if it happens) will determine how much this "so called" trading bar has changed. Personally I don't think this trade changed the NBA. But I do believe Danny Ainge is trying to change the NBA with his crazy trade demands.
Ainge is a Ganaf. Don’t trade with him.

The big thing to keep in mind is that?not all picks are created equal. Protections and roster make a huge difference. Since the Knicks have Brunson Randle and Robinson locked in on 4 year deals and RFA rights to RJ, you have to think that they will at least be a play-in caliber team after a DM trade.
Going by the article I posted, all of the highest value picks we're made for 30+ stars and now those teams have questions going forward. The biggest caveat is "Knicks gonna Knick" ie the Knicks have a long record of futility.

WHen you say “keep in mind” to Philc, understand what your asking.
It will correct itself eventually. As the price Minny paid will be to steep for most gms to feel comfortable pulling the trigger on. So if those are the demands then trades will just start becoming limited. That is until a gm sells lower than market value due to circumstances balancing the trade market again.
Knicks have the best possible package for Spida. There is no real comp unless Ainge sells for less to be spiteful. As the Jazz become a lottery team. DMs value will take a hit from where it currently is. Ainge’s only play is to try to create pressure from media as of Knicks have to get DM or its a failure. Which for some reason some NY media pundits are gladly willing to do that work for him for some reason. Still don’t see Leon caring about that though.

He doesn't, as evidenced by not trading for DM yet

This is not crypto currancy. These are players of different value, age, contract status and the teams/picks involved all have different projections.
We don't know what is being asked or what knicks have countered either. If Jazz is lottery team his value won't drop unless he is hurt. Thats real. He is a 25 year old three time allstar with playoff cred.
They ahve clarkson and Malik Beasly who could come here. This deal has many different potential.
That he goe else where for spite? I'd fire his ass in a minute if im the owner if that was to occur.

When I say lose value i’m talking about the value that Ainge has been trying to set. Not saying that he will eventually be able to be had for peanuts. Thought that would go without saying. Last playoffs they lost to the Mavs without Luka. A Mavs team with 1 future all star in Brunson :) and a bunch of role players. With DM not really giving his all it seemed as he should of took over the series as the best player once Luka was out. Which is why they decided to blow it up in the first place. I don’t see him having the drive to go all out for a team that sold its assets to tank and reset. Ainge knows he needs to make this move. He will just hold out until as long as he can which is right before the season starts.
Not to mention with the picks the Knicks have. Don’t let another player become available that sparks Leon’s interest. Then tell DA to find another team to supply his asset demands…
