The joke is on Andrew Bogut. Joseph Tsai is Taiwan-born and has a Hong Kong passport. I doubt he is sympathetic to the PRC, its ideology or its stance towards Taiwan and HK.

And then there was the Tsai post criticising Daryl Morey for his statement on China back on 2019. So, I guess, the joke is on me.

Alibaba is a Chinese domiciled company and thats were a good deal of his wealth is. A sort of Chinese Amazon type company. Not sure he is thrilled with how they have treated him but being critical is not good for business. So yes, Durant goes off on China they gonna pull the NBA plug and Tsai who was trying to be the next Houstan Rockets “home team” in China.

If the players will not honor the contracts then why should the owners. The owners will push for contract lengths to be reduced from 4/5 down to 2/3, and they will also push for harsher penalties for players trying to come up with excuses to get traded. The new collective bargaining agreement is going to much different than the current one.

Guaranteed contracts aren’t going away. The next CBA will likely have a codified rule that if a player chooses to not play and it’s not related to a reasonable injury they don’t get paid and probably receive a fine. Ben Simmons is trying to get the money that he would have got from playing for the 76ers and I think it goes to trial because it’s pretty clear he intended not to play and missed the whole season.

Meanwhile Harden came in fat and at least played until Houston could trade him. That just makes more sense than anything else. We might be fans but the NBA is a business and star players, playing sells tickets. I think that is what the owners would want more than anything else. It’s ok if you dial it in but you can’t just sit out. Not earning money but potentially losing it will have the players show up. Meanwhile players would still have ways to show their displeasure like not playing focused or being selfish or still missing games as can be justified. The teams might sit them themselves until the trade to avoid bad on court play, but that would be the team’s decision.

The nba needs a franchise tag rule similar to the NFL. Only way to stop the Durant/Kyrie/Harden “let’s make new superteams every 2 years then fire the GM, coach and everyone else when we choke in the playoffs” nonsense bs

How frequent is this happing in the NBA that you consider changing the fabric of free agency were players are not often leaving via that out to form super teams anymore? That Durant took the risk of injury to walk from OKC and control his path should be stopped? NBA has extensions and supermax capacity so a player can get paid.
When he left Warriors, they got back all star D’angelo russell as some compensation. OKC got nothing. They could have trade sooner. Not like KD did not tell them he was bolting. Warriors then fliped D’Angelo for Wiggins and the pick that is Kuminga. KD signed a new deal last year.

This is a half baked idea PhilC.

I don’t think players should be any more confined. the system is far from perfect but much of the superteam collusion has been eliminated. PhilC is just catching up.

yep, it's overly simplistic to assume all Taiwanese or Hong Kong people are anti mainland China, like with every country there are differing opinions and allegiances within every population and community, some based on ideological lines, some, pragmatism, some nationalism and some on economic vested interests.

Spears on Windhorsts had good take…….”Too bad we talking about everything but how wonderful Kyrie and Durant are as players on the court”.
Im hoop fan and a team with Joe Harris, Seth Curry, Durant, Kyrie and Simmons in the paint wouild be fun as hell to watch. They have TJ Warren adn Royce O’neil for defense. If healthy this could be the best Net team in years.
Outside the knicks of course, them in playoffs vs Boston? Miami? Milwaukee? That would be good.
They could run it back one more year. Hire MDA and let them loose.
