As bad as it looks, we still in a better place than the teams of the past, when you look at the entire picture.
We’re.500, in the playoff hunt, with some promising young players and a few solid vets. We ain’t there. Let’s see what the off-season brings us.

Huh?
Oh yeah, you’re guy that said pass the bong in another thread. Guess it made it to you!
Only team in the East we would have zero shot against is Milwaukee in a 7 game series.

Boston/Milw are like two tiers above and Nets are like one tier above. The rest is soup and no reason the Knicks couldnt end up 4th again.
We are learning really good things... the group of Jules/Brunson/RJ/Mitch is really good together. Like REALLY good... and YOUNG at 28/26/22/24
We are learning that Grimes and IQ are players. These are guys who can impact the game on both ends in many ways.
Jury is out a bit on Sims/IHart/McBride but all are having good moments.
Team is being rebuilt right under our eyes and I like how it's going

To add to this: I think this year's version of possible ceiling of 4th seed is sustainable versus what was going on in 2020 season. Solid stuff going on
TLDR/short version of this 90 seconds: Time for Optimism.
its not just kids doing cute things, its winning us NBA games. Losing some but mostly winning.
Also looks more and more like Brunson/Randle are a pair of scorers who can really get better with better players around them. Our offense reminds me a bit of those Detroit teams with 4 legit scorers big ben flying around setting screens and crashing the offensive glass
If the defensive focus is there the Knicks can play with anyone. When they lose that is when the disappointments come for the most part.

Man now that’s a pipe dream. Having a roster that plays defense like Detroit as a team would be nice. But JB is definitely an offensive killer similar to IT in his days regarding their offensive impact at the PG position. I would love for Mitch or sims to play that Ben Wallace role. Grimes and his 2 way abilities. I can see the similarities. Just never thought about the old Detroit team for their offense but I can see it “but I will have to squint real, real hard.” Lol

I remember living in fla, watching Ben Wallace with the Magic. What a motor. Mitch is playing great, not the physical, dominating prescence that Wallace was. But in fairness, who has been?
Agree that we shouldnt be setting the bar too high, too soon. The first step for this squad is making the playoffs. And win or lose, leave everything on the court.
Then the FO works from there. Regardless of any trades during the season. That should be the endgame. Exactly like the movie.
Sims has the best shot of being a Ben Wallace type of player. Had my doubts early on, but he's starting to make use of his athleticism.

I believe they are the most similar as far as height and agility. Sims should model his game after Ben Wallace, Rodman, green in GS, PJ Tucker. All these undersized forwards who made a long career at that glue man role.

Sims is missing Wallace’s intensity. He is stoic. But I like the comp. Unlock the beast, Sims.
