I know, nothing like youtube hightlights to make the scouting report.
First off, good for him and us that he has this clear role. We his 5th team and he is 24.
Last year with Clippers he had a defined role avg 17 min a game. Prior year he hada. 16 game stint with Clev he played the same. He is young still.
His per 36 foul rate last eyar came down to 4.9. Rookie year was 9. He is foul prone. Thibs is gonna pull him an straighten him out.
His assists are encouraging. This will be a process.

He went 14 for 30 in 3pts all last year. 56 games avg 17 min per game.

I like the potential. I reckon he is not on the German Natonal team playing eurobasket? Working on his game? His girl? LOL.

If he can push Mitch all the better. I like this kind of signing as it takes a player who got moved around a bit and perhaps Clippers got in a salary squeeze and let him walk. Not sure Jokic is worried yet but I hope his play surges and he creates a “Center controversy” because he is so good.

Cue the many "Hart needs to start thread." Or the "Thibs doesn't play the yoot" threads when he plays Hart exactly the same amount he has been averaging in the NBA.

Watched some Clip games last year. He is very good at diving to the basket off the ball. Has a good shot, handle for a big man. He will block a shot but no way he is close to MR motor and quickness on defense. Things like speed of elevation, extension on blocks and defensive reads are ones that make you appreciate MR. Do think Hart will fill in nicely with second unit and if needed when Mitch gets in fouls trouble.

And luckily the Knicks have Jericho in the gym practicing his offensive moves and jump shots waiting on BOTH Mitch and Hart getting into foul trouble so he can do some of this:

Think Thibs likes him for his defense. And with the foul issues both MR and Hart have, do not think he will have trouble getting minutes. One thing to consider is Hart taking some backup PF. Please edit that last sentence though. We do not want the Obi crowd having to be rushed to the hospital.
Do think Thibs has options with those three depending on circumstance. Most likely scenario is that Sims is there in case of injury. See this?
MR-Hart
Randle- Obi
RJ-Cam
EF-Grimes
JB-Rose? IQ?
Sims
Mcbribe
Keels
Hunt

Question is where IQ will get minutes? Does Thibs plan on playing him in a small lineup at 3?
Makes sense why the Knicks were looking to include him in a trade. If we can believe that. Don't want to see Rose go but seems like if Knicks are committed to Grimes at the SG, it's either IQ or Rose that should be dealt. Secondly, is Thibs okay with Cam as a backup SF? Think he should be.

Has he fixed that jumper? Its one of the ugliest since Joakim.

His FT shooting is vastly different from last year. Work in progress.

If the Knicks go with a 10 man lineup (not completely unreasonable IMHO but still not completely ideal either), one of Rose, Randle, or Fournier has to go or one of the young kids will get squeezed. Simple as that.

McBride and Jericho will most likely only get irregular minutes with 10 guys ahead of them.

He can pass but also PnRs sooooo well. His use of space will make Mitch’s athleticism in that same role be an after thought.

Hoping for best with Hart but think I read somewhere he has a very high foul rate.

Combine that with ref treatment of our Knicks and could - lots of foul trouble for Hart

Agree. I think Mitch just got called for his 4th personal right now but I digress.

Hart coming off the bench as a stretch 4/5 will be a nice addition alongside a pg. the Lin to Novak combo basically saved the 2012 season

Hart took 30 shots from 3pt Last season and your calling him a "stretch"?

Agree about 10 man rotaion. Although more than Thibs likes.
Imho, Rose/Thibs/Anyone with a realistic approach to winning will trust guys that have a proven record of production. Ie. Vets/proven players. Roadmap should be stick to the guys that have shown consistent perennial results and give the hopefuls a chance to show they are good enough to eventually replace them. Which is what I feel Thibs/Rose are doing. Fans just do not like that it takes longer than a few good games to figure who those truly are.

The one move that may make sense, albeit disappointing as good as Rose has been for the team, is to deal Rose to give IQ a chance to continue to progress as PG. However, Thibs loyalty and Rose's strong 21 will make that a tough decision. Perhaps Thibs let's Rose go back home or play with a team that can compete for a chip.

Everything else seems to be something where things will work themselves out. If Grimes plays as well as hoped, EF will either come off the bench or be moved at trade deadline. If Cam plays well he will be our back up SF for some time or be moved for an upgrade at deadline. If Randle struggles and Obi plays as well as everyone screaming for him to start says, Randle will be moved at trade deadline. Or maybe Hart comes in and balls and takes over the C position. Hell maybe the PF position. Things will work themselves out. No need for desperate moves right now.

Rose is Thibs future assistant coach (you can see it coming). He will yank Rose in and out of the lineup as he please and Rose is ok with that, due to player development and reduced miles on his knees.

I like Cam as the backup SF, but thats not a lot of minutes behind RJ, and the way Thibs plays RJ and Randle heavy mins (unless Thibs changes style).

I would like to see Hart get some PF minutes, but no way does Thibs reduce Obi minutes at PF for Hart. Not with all this Obi attention or Randle trade scenarios knick fans / the media is throwing out there.

I believe Leon Rose will eventually make a last minute trade to relieve some rotation pressure off of Thibs. Otherwise Leon Rose is setting Thibs up to fail. But this is why Thibs makes the big money.
