don't we now have apps for this kind of stuff? Tinder?
I get the fact that famous folks can be at risk in the public. But I thought they had versions for this?
We all have our opinions. Simple fact is rules of employment for the Celtics are what they were. Is it stupid or not? thats not the point. Is he married, or not? Not the point. That Mia Long is hot or not, is not the point.
He is suspended for now. That does not mean he won't be fired at any point. He fucked up. Maybe the women is also married. maybe he threatened to out her? Is he in a position of power? yes. He could have her fired denied promotion. Maybe he is totally cool and would not. We don't know. Fact is consensual is how it starts. Thus, its consensual. Fact is its not a crime and maybe there are no issues with him and this women. But rules are in place for a reason and he messed up. What he does with his personal life is his business until its not.
Its consensual does not imply protest. The women could have feared for her job if she broke it off with him. So yes, its consensual but then what happens next.
What do I think? Its complicated. I think he very well gets fired. Coach has to keep his private life together otherwise he is distracted. Celtics might love him and tell him to get his personal life in order and come back.
Remember Derek Fisher? He was obviously "distracted".
Well, I stand corrected. He is not married to Nia Long, but clearly he could be because if she did not have feelings, she would not be at the games supporting him. So I don’t know what to make of that. In any case, he better marry the women he had sex with to quash the whole matter. A shotgun wedding ends the controversy.

Lucky with have Thibbs, who is married to basketball and he would never cheat on her.

I don't know. Thibs is a tiger out there on the sidelines and you can't put no leash on tiger. There are herds of young nubile ACLs out there that need to be devoured.
According to the Post there is more to the story than just the affair. His behavior in its wake is also the concern.
So he is indeed gone for a year if not for good. All I would really care about is if this helps the Knicks in any way? I doubt it. Thinking of when Kerr had to step away - excellent teams should find their way. Don’t see the Celts collapsing from this.

For Thibs sake - hope the Knicks org doesn't have an extra strict rule about flogging the dolphin...

I've seen co-workers get fired for less... There's a reason they say never crap where you eat.
This situation seems like it is a lot worse than people originally thought. We might never get the full info on exactly how bad but the more times passes the worse it gets.
BRIGGS wrote:If Im reading this right hes going to be suspended for having a consensual relationship with a staff member.I can understand if it was not consensual of course or the girl was not of age---I means something pretty bad---but a consensual relationship between adults? What the heck---I do not agree at all. Its blasphemy if true and whether it was warned or even signed into something of a pledge---a relationship that is consensual whoever the parties--should be a reasonable act of rights --to be severely punished is insane.
This is why you ask yourself what you don't know. On the surface seemed silly. Teams don't usually do insane shit like this without provocation.
For all we know maybe Nia was too having an affair? We don't know.
But like I said, Consensual can turn to something else and thus its why employers have rules. You may not agree with them but if you sign a contract you for sure accept them.
wargames wrote:So flipside it’s all about policy and organizatio. We have Rebecca who had a baby with Wally. On the low Wally could have been fired for that. Sleeping with co-workers is such a minefield and Ime unlike Wally did not get through it unscathed.
Not sure both work for Knicks or a communications subsidiary? it might matter.
Question: say both consented and went to HR to disclose? its there a process where they can sign an disclosure of sorts that both warns them of the consequences if things are not handled well? Do's and don'ts? Then sign the thing?
Is there a proper way to handle these things?
This is going to be a big deal if it ever becomes public.
duke knows how to coach. do your time then come over to us.

Maybe let's wait out the details before waiving the minimum quality-of-character requirements?
In the mean time, I guess we'll have to do with the guy one year removed from COY.

No one has discussed what the Udoka suspension really means for the NY Knicks.
Clearly, this makes it obvious that Randle should be traded!!

Coaches do not get suspended for consensual relationships. Those can be addressed privately and dealt with directly. This smells like there was more than meets the eye and that the female involved was possibly going to either go public or get an attorney regarding the situation.
But let's stay focused! Is Obi getting more minutes??

Sometimes it just comes down to one question. Are you gonna get in the truck or not?
I can’t think of a worst off season in recent memory than what the Celtics have had.
It comes out Jaylen brown was on the trade market for KD
Robert Williams out for 3 months
Gallo out for the season
Ime Udoka suspended for a year
Just some horrible stuff.
