Watching Julius pound the ball and then spin into two defenders and get stripped I presumed was the worst predictable go to move in Knicks history. However, watching RJ put his head down and go right to the basket against 2 and 3 defenders on a fast break is getting to that level. He won't pass and he doesn't have that athletic burst like Cam to insure he will finish. Man I like RJ but cut it out

You are right that RJ could do better but he at least usually gets a shot off, which leads to Kobe assist when he misses (assists where a teammate gets the offensive rebound and scores in the paint). Randle turns the ball over half the time and it usually leads to a bucket the other way. The less Randle does on offense the better. He needs to focus on rebounding, defense, hitting open threes, and cutting to the basket. He should limit his iso plays to just 3-5 times a game.

There was a video pointing out that even a lot of RJs missed layups are good bc he creates so much attention from the defense that a lot of offensive rebounds and put backs are made. I agree but with that said…. He needs to finish more consistently. I can live with inconsistent 3 point shooting. Lay-ups need to be made though. It’s good his 2 point% has gotten a lot better at least. He’s coming back around.
It’s a toss up.
Julius
1. Spin move into traffic
2. Top of the circle, six crossover dribbles into the same spot into a forced traffic jumper
3. Sloppy dribble handoff on the three point line to Fournier & RJ
RJ
1. The transition 1 on 3 force into traffic off balanced layup
Mitch
1. Falling for the pump fake for a guy that can’t shoot then committing a bad foul

Don't forget the Cam, step back, contested midrange jumper.

Both these guys, Randle and RJ are bad finishers. nothing you can do about it. Randle just chucks the ball up when he gets close to the rim

I’ve always thought Randle was pretty good around rim, RJ in his own world there
RJ acts like he is a running back, head down to the end zone from a 4th and one on the 1 yard line on drives
If you overlook the 6 turnovers, RJ had a very good game.
I’m going with our FO sticking with Thibs as our coach.
It’s harder to defend keeping him than it is for the Knicks to guard the 3pt line.

LOL!
In my pea brain I don't see this roster as underachieving. We have no "Stars", RJ is true 22 year old, Brunson is in his first NBA leadership starting role and bound to have some growth, Randle is still our best player which is a problem, and Mitch is also still developing. Fan base is frustrated. I am frustrated but to me Johnny Bryant is the heir apparent and unless he has a better plan and Thibs is not listening to his associate head coach then what is the magic formula? Mark Jackson? Out of work coaches visit other teams and attend clinics to stay sharp. Often they become assistants. Mark Jax never did that. His personality needed evolving and was loathed in the GSW organization. He is rooted in California. I know he did a good job in GSW but he also had the foundation of what was to be a great dynasty. Would he have that here in NY? Has he been interviewing at all the last few years?
If MDA goes anywhere he likes joins Morey and Harden in Philly for a stupid amount of money. I think he is a consultant to the Thunder organization for now. He is keeping his head in the game.
Are the great ones stubborn then win or win, then get stubborn? Thibs has some good success in his resume and some not so good.
RJ FT% so far doing very well over 80%!
His interior passing in the lane is also improving.
He is guarding still elite talent and sometimes the help does not execute leaving him looking bad. it happens.
RJ working on his worst go to move

Which one? The layup or the open three?

RJ is making the choice multiple choice

He is a more expensive Lance Thomas.
Like cmon bro we gave you 3-4 years man you got to give us SOMETHING.
Worst go to move is showing this website I follow to prospective girlfriends
Most annoying Jeff Hornachek touching his face before free throws
It was rough watching Mark Jackson in his 2nd knicks stint posting up
W Randle it's not which move, it's when, against what defense, and how long and obvious it is-
Especially his passes! It's almost like he yells out hey get ready I'm going to pass- if I can tell he's going to pass it's too obvious
He plays great in the flow though! RJ slumping I'm sure throws off any flow or trust at least some.
Still better to watch than last year. It's still early.
I think if the team stays healthy they'll improve.

Can't believe we extended him. It's time to make the front office and talent evaluators accountable. Looks like we've got a lot of dead wood up there just getting great seats and compensation. Our picks and trades have been horrible. We never seem to get shooters and in BB you need them.
