Knicks · Give Julius Randle some credit (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 11/13/2022 11:22 AM
While not as good as two years ago he’s been good solid. Our big 3 have been solid after Barrera slow start. But Julius was on the outside looking in with fans. He came in shape has played hard and smart— and we wouldn’t be 6-6 without him.
ToddTT @ 11/13/2022 12:02 PM
Credit for raising his trade value. Trade Randle!!!
ToddTT @ 11/13/2022 12:05 PM
JK… I root for him every game. My memory isn’t that short.

Thats right, we'd be 10 and 2! Bruhahahahaha!

Knicks fans are supposed to like “tough,” you know like Charles Oakley. Not making a direct comparison - different eras and skill sets - but if we “trade Randle” who on the team brings that quality? That’s without mentioning the double doubles. And assists. Yeah I know, you hate ‘im, trade ‘im.
BigDaddyG @ 11/13/2022 2:14 PM
Naw.

He plays like a Bull in a china shop. That's not 'tough'

Playing hard counts on both sides of the ball, he's taking better shots than last year but he has been bad on the defensive end. Lazy close outs and is still slow in defensive transition. He looks like he's playing more himself and his stats this year...actually, most of the team looks like thay are playing for themselves. Team looks disjointed.

To be fair, he's clapping and smiling a little bit more than last year

Randle does have good basketball skills but he's not playing to them. Iso and 3pts shooting are definitely not them. He's strong, rebound well, can finish in traffic, can shoot a bit.
Even though we can't replace him, we should try to trade him. He's never going to accept the role he should have on this team to help it win games. He's a complimentary player that must be fed the ball. He could be finish the shot he would be given. He however should not handle the ball, do any iso and limit himself to 2 or 3 3pts shot attempt per game.
Unfortunately, he doesn't see himself like that and his contract rules in his favor.

I'm in agreement. He plays with force or toughness but it has very little purpose.

BigRedDog @ 11/13/2022 4:41 PM
I still hate Randles game. Terrible 3 pt shooter, poor rebounder, terrible passer, doesn't hustle back on defense, poor defender, not great finisher around the basket.
TPercy @ 11/13/2022 4:45 PM
Eh, wasn't the reason we lost or have been losing.

The "Give Randle Credit" thread immediately becomes the "I Hate Randle Trade Him" thread. What did we expect?

Wait what? And yet I can totally see Miami going for this in some ways

Does Miami have enough expiring/short term filler to make it work? Not down for doing the Rat any favors.

Not really. Would have to be 3 team if at all

Nalod @ 11/14/2022 3:04 AM

Trade him out? Im not against it if it brings in assets that moves the franchise forward.
Bad loss. WE daring teams to out shoot us. They do, we lose.

Trade is change, but what comes back. It a Lowrey dump?

It might be for their trash Duncan Robinson and Oladipo. I don’t like it.

Randle has been better, especially his attitude but truthfully I just don't like his game and style of play and how much freedom he has on this team.
