Knicks · [Game Thread 12/29/22] Knicks at Spurs 8PM (page 3)
I believe the reason for this is the "free-flowing" offense.
If players do not cut to the basket on the weak side on their own, there must be set plays to keep the offense from becoming stagnant.
The NBA today is very evenly matched and I think that sums up our winning streak and losing streak.
The team that gets the top pick this year will dominate the NBA for the next 15.
"For the haters that say Randle can't play defense, watch last defensive play against Haliburton and go F*** yourselfs.

For the ones that wanted Thibs fired, go F@*# yourselfs.
For the ones that wanted MR traded for Turner, go F*** yourselfs.
Great win. JB was game MVP.
RJ another nice game. Slow start a memory.
Great Defense by MR.
Knicks keep it going!!"
Cam Reddish 2-Way performance was missing in this game too.
Tonight, we desperately needed a PG!
Tonight, we could've used D.Rose leadership in 2nd half.
Tonight, The Knicks offense (was Quickley & Randle) there was little to no ball-movement on the offensive end of the court, which had teammates Grimes, McBride, and MitchRob's effortless on defense.
Tonight, the Knicks two ball controller in the rotation were Randle & Quickley dribbling, and over dribbling.
Tonight, Quickley actually played the same selfish role as RJ Barrett .. shoot first!
Randle is better at the PF position, and need to let go of the point-forward, and the fake leadership.
Not letting McBride share the PG duties with Quickley throughout the game made McBride actually useless on the court.

Your point is?
Knicks came out flat. Second unit was non existent.
Grimes showed why youngins are hard to trust to be consistent.
8 game winning streak erased from memory.
Our shooting wings of Grimes,Deuce and Rose shot 5-23.
Our lockdown youngins had Langford post a career high.
Pros:
Randle 41/11/7 51%
IQ 36/7/7
Youngins getting more experience.
We hopefully get some players back soon.
You can see right away with this team when they are trying to out score the other team vs actually defending.
Other thing that jumped out to me was offense dominated by IQ and JR was all over the place with no flow. Yes we scored ~118 but there was a bunch of shitty offense and 1 sequence in particular where IQ dribble all over the 1/2 court for about 20 seconds while rest of team and fans on TV watched in disgust.

D Rose looks washed - particularly defensively teams go right at him.
Quickly out of control with the ball dominance and uncanny ability to pass on good shots to take more difficult shots

You give us great insight on how haters view a game. NO real insight but rather points based on one dimensional hate and that ignore other obvious faults. Just a whole bunch of "should of's" without any clue if they would have made a difference.
Rose has not lead at any point this season. He just comes in and chucks up shots.
Deuce knees shake everytime he gets the ball, but you think that should be running point more.
IQ did a good job playing like JB at point and put up 36/7.
Do you get Cam is being held out because he is not making it past Feb?
Did you watch our main outside shooter go 1-10?
Did you not see Rose,Deuce and Grimes go 5-23?
Two thirds of our big three on the bench?
Langford score all over our defensive guard?
Those are the reasons we lost.
You putting down the only two players that showed up shows you are only interested in trolling.
But given the circumstances, we really had no other choice. Randle (41) and IQ (36) tried their best to bring us back but it just wasn't enough. We never had that 3rd and 4th guy to chip in and we played zero defense (122 points on 51%, 11/28 from three, 14 offensive rebounds). Robinson had an awful game. It was like he was half asleep out there and he got butchered by Poeltl and Collins. Very disappointing to see cause he's having a nice season. Grimes was also pretty bad. His defense has slipped a lot in this losing streak. And without two of our scorers we needed him to hit shots and he shit the bed (1/10 shooting, 1/6 from three).
Give the Spurs credit. They have a lot of young guys who are clearly coached well. Very impressed with Sochan and Keldon Johnson is one of the most underrated players in the league.
To go from feeling good having a 8 game win streak to now a 5 game losing streak and likely more coming is deflating. These close losses, injuries and the Dallas choke might just have ruined the season. We really need Brunson and RJ back and we need to stop pretending to be the D'Antoni Suns who play no defense and try to outgun teams cause it doesn't work and it's not our best chance.

So the Knicks are at….500! How about that? In the 8th slot a game out of the 6th. What exactly were we expecting? For me, a young team finding its way while developing and also competing. Seems about right.
But hate on….

No such thing as tough guys on the internet. You should know that. Just guys that think that bringing stuff like that up has any relevance. Telling haters to go f@#k themselves is not literal. You should know that. Did you think that when Fish made a thread about Frank hater should suck it, he meant it literally. Hope you didn't.
Haters call out bullshit but don't back or define what the BS was or why. I have.
Let's hear what you think is bullshit and why? Did not see that part?

Then drop all the "hater go F yourself", I'm the biggest fan crap. Enough with the posturing.
As far as what you wrote being BS, absolutely. Debating in YEAR 3 if a player is a fit at a certain position isnt "hating". Especially when most of your comments are positive.
Wondering wether a veteran is clutch or not, when the evidence is saying that he hasnt been. Thats not "hating". Not even close.
When I suggested that Randle had changed his game before anyone else on this board in 2020, I got pushback, that wasn't "hating". It was still early in the season.
When I said Randle should bring up the ball, not just Brunson. I got a lot of pushback. Now I'm a "hater' along with others.
This really takes the joy out of talking hoops. Not suggesting that word be striken, but you shouldnt throw it out as much as you do to people you disagree with. Not over the internet

So this all comes down to Randle?
Were you upset about the F the haters or that I disagree strongly about what I think is a shortsighted view on Randle?
I have had no problem with you in our convos about Randle. Never called you a hater on those.
I'm calling out guys that pretend they watch games and constantly put him down only because they are not able to admit their "trade him for scraps" take was BS.
Called out guys for shitting on the team despite having two main guys out.
Called out guys blaming Thibs for any recent issues despite obvious improvements over last year.
All while ignoring we just won 8 in a row and should be 10-3 over last 13.
Calling out guys that "claim" they are just pointing out deficiencies in Randle yet ignore his production, salary and that most realistic fans did not expect him to be a superstar.
Call out guys that want the youngins to "develop" but are the first to call for a turnstile mentality once they struggle.
You are being naive if you think there are not a lot of negative, pessimistic fans that only like to bitch and complain regardless of reality. Ie Haters/Trolls.
I have no problems with them. It's what forums are also about.
But my view is, if your repeating stupid shit and ignore truths, just to prove that what you thought a year ago is true despite obvious info, I am going to call you out. If all you are doing is trolling, I am gonna explain why and tell you to go F yourself if you are not backing it up.
Question is why did you feel you are one of the guys being called a hater? And why would you care?
Just respond with your opinion. May not agree with it but that is why we post on here.

Thanks for sharing this, I am glad I got to read it.
For any of his shortcomings, Fournier is a true professional in every sense of the word and you have to respect him for that.
Something about the contrast between Fournier's statement and Lebron's recent statement on same topic makes me think less favorobaly of the latter...
LeBron: “I'm a winner, and I want to win. … Playing basketball at this level just to be playing basketball, it's just not in my DNA anymore.

You are very quick to label people comments .. why why why
Coach Thibs coaching had no intention on winning the last two games ..
It looks like Randle and Quickley taking 54 shots wasn’t a recipe for success ..
Point-forward Randle & PG Quickley held onto the ball so much in the first half of the game all their teammates showed signs they did not want to be on the court with Randle & Quickley in the 2nd half of the game.
Brunson have success as a Knicks when he keeps the ball out of dribbling Randle hands, and limit Barrett to slashes and open jump shots. Brunson can't help their poor defense.
Mr. why why why .. Why did veteran D.Rose refuse to be a starter when traded to the Knicks in 2019?
But D.Rose became the Knicks top winning closer player on the roster (recall PG-J.Kidd did the same in 2012 to point-forward Iso Melo).
It's an easy question if u watched the tandem of Randle & Quickley in the Spurs game.
And recall the tandem of D.Rose & Quickley ball movement to get everyone in their bench lineup to score.
The Knicks bench players look like LOSERS this season because Ball-Stopper Randle or Barrett is always in it.
Fournier performance reminds me of Allan Houston 20 pt performance each game, being in an ISO lineup alongside Randle & Barrett dribbling I'm surprise he was able to score 2 pts.
