It NEVER happens... you know why? SPOILER: It's stupid!
Randle is playing great. There's also a real upside to Randle's game that isn't talked about enough. Plain and simple he gives up the ball. While he may pound/hold it he's no black hole and even when he's scoring a ton he's still moving the ball and looking for shooters and cutters.
Randle looks just as happy making the great pass as he does scoring. He's really integrated well with Brunson and the guy he's showing more and more chemistry with is Grimes.
The redemption tour is a hot ticket... keep it up Jules.
Sixers did it with Iggy, the Sun's did it with Marbury and the Mavs did it with Kidd. I won't say it never happens. Every situation is different, but sometimes you need to take a step back to move forward. I'm glad Jules is playing well, but let's not act like he's not capable of reverting. Let's just enjoy the ride and see where it takes the team.
When you say "reverting" to what do you refer? That really bad 20/10/5 season last year?
We signed him at 25 to the Fizdale squad and he wasnt bad. The team sucked, Randle played hard. Then we get MIP and 4th seed Randle. Then we get a grumpy 20/10/5 on a team with a lot of problems. Now are getting all star Randle.Randle's been good here. Hopefully its more of the same "reverting" feels so negative. We all thought he could be better. So did he. Look at how's it's played out.
People were desperate last year to paint the Randle/Thibs combo as bad but it seems to be working ok short and long term
Iggy wasn't breaking down. He was still in his prime when they shipped him. By reverting I mean returning to being sub par. His entire career has seen one good season followed by one bad season. He fooled me once. Let's see him carry forward into future seasons. I hope he does. Still think we should trade him.You have a 25/10/5 two way forward who's 28 and shares the ball. Who are you getting back that helps us? Randle is literally playing his way into being untradeable. The way Randle shares the ball you just need to upgrade the guys around him... Or trade him for Luka/Giannis/Bam
No, it's me not getting overly excited about a team that's one game over .500. This team isn't good enough and needs to be tore down. I've been pretty consistent with the strategy the team needss to take. Rather than asking what we can get for Randle, I'll ask you what the needs could require that would make this team be taken seriously.

Didn’t Utah just trade both Gobert and Mitchell in their prime. Looks like Mitchell is paying dividends in Cleveland but the price paid for Gobert is starting to look really bad for a player who isn’t living up to expectations and is a bad fit. Regardless, 2 players in their prime traded. On the other side of the trade, Utah has a similar record as the Knicks and a bazillion picks to work with. I’d say it’s working out pretty well for them
I think watching the Celtics come together, this team is young enough that with time, they have a chance of getting to that level- and that chance is as good as anything we do- maybe unless you can guarantee getting Wembanyama in the draft and having him become exactly what you think he can become.

I guess it'll depend on what you mean by taken seriously.
I see a ton of unrealized potential on the team. Grimes, Brunson, Mitch, McBride, IQ, even RJ. Those guys have not nearly reached their ceiling.
Randle and RJ are on manageable, tradable contracts.
I think Grimes will be a borderline all star within 2 years, two-way lock down POA player. Brunson is in his FIRST year as a starting PG. Mitch may be a slow learner but over the course of 2 years, he went from a foul-a-thon, oft-injured guy to a potentially elite defensive player who is dominating the offensive glass. McBride needs to be able to hit a shot, his potential is not meeting game reality of hitting shots but we know he can (I'm still of the belief he is changing his shot mechanics and it'll just take time, like til next year). IQ hasn't stopped getting better; he is a grinder/worker. And as much as I rag on RJ, he is still literally the second youngest player on the team; lot of figuring out to do with his consistency but it may be there someplace. I am still a believer in Hart's potential but he has not lived up to what he can do which is Noah-lite on O with a shot.
The Knicks have potential elite defense to lean on.
The Knicks still have a gigantic bag of picks.
Unbelievably, the one piece they are consistently missing is an ISO guy who can fit into the team mentality.
The Knicks are YOUNG.

I understand completely and for the life of me, I don’t know why people get so upset if someone has an opposite opinion. I respect all opinions regardless how silly it sounds. That’s why we are all here. Voice our concerns, excitement or issues to discuss.
Blow it up? That’s 1 strategy. It’s also a very common thing to do in Knicks nation every 3 years. And like you, I can’t get overly excited over being 1 game above .500. Until we improve, if we make the playoffs it might be an early exit. And fans will again complain when they see the talent that will be selected ahead of us. But we on development mode so let the yoots experience the taste of the playoffs.
I’ve said from the beginning, building around RJ and Randle will be tough. I also wasn’t sure there was a PG available that Randle would defer to. Well i was wrong. JB is exactly what Randle needed. Maybe we have to do something we haven’t done in a while and that’s being patient. We all need patience therapy.
I’m curious to see what or who can we add to improve the team. What internal moves can we do? RJ to the bench? Doubt that happens but you never know. I know this team needs a wing defender who can also score (similar to cam). So I’m hoping if we trade him we get back a similar version of him. Because we are weak in that area (tall wing defenders).

What does taken seriously mean? That will happen come post season. Do you take Heat seriously? Bulls? Hawks? Raptors? Hard to get head around that one. If we traded RJ/Grimes/IQ/Obi and 5 FRPs but we had Donovan and say 4 more wins would we be taken seriously?
Knicks are very young and getting pretty good on both sides of the ball.

SergioNYK wrote:Proud and happy for Randle. Never in a million years did I ever think he could play like this again or that we would hear the Garden chant 'MVP' at him. All credit goes to him! Hope he can keep it up!
My thoughts exactly. Randle playing like a franchise player and leading by example. Then add in JB and we have a perfect match. Glad he’s playing well. If this team played ATL in the playoffs 2 years ago, doubling Randle will not work this time. And the more zones and double teams he sees the better he gets.
Randle rebounds too!
There is not obvious path for a fan to see to contention. That does not mean it will never happen.
Knicks have a plan. Don’t mean it executes. Fans are not privy to the plan.
Media keep saying we need “Stars”. Duh.
Suns traded Marbury to knicks. How’d that work out? He was drinking in Phx.
Kidd traded From Mavs? Context in the moment. From NY times article:
Jason Kidd and two other players were traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Phoenix Suns tonight for Sam Cassell, A. C. Green, Michael Finley and a second-round draft choice. It was the first major trade of the National Basketball Association season and sent a wealth of young talent to a pair of struggling teams.Kidd, who has feuded with his teammates and was unhappy with the system installed by the Mavericks' new coach, Jim Cleamons, was traded with Tony Dumas and Loren Meyer, who have played sparingly this season for Dallas.
The Suns gave up three players who have struggled to find playing time on one of the deepest, although most unsuccessful, teams in the league.
Cassell, who was acquired by the Suns in the trade that sent Charles Barkley to the Houston Rockets, was leading Phoenix in scoring at 14.8 points a game despite being the backup to Kevin Johnson.

I agree, this is the time to trade him. For some of the reasons you gave, like the up and down seasons. Randle's numbers are great these days, but I still have serious doubts about his ability to be a clutch performer. Thats not including the playoffs.
We've seen All-Star level production at times from Randle, not much in the way of consistent clutch play. The numbers arent there.
From the third or fourth option a lack of clutch play is tolerable. Not from the first or second option. Doubt we can find that player without trading Randle. Dont know who is available, but at the very least I'd like to see the FO test the market.

Just like we don’t know who is available.
Don’t forget Randles contract is not bad. Look it up.
Look at Beals. Ouch. Lavine. Ouch. Look it up. Its easy.
Thibs said last year he needed to do a better job coaching him. He is.
IMO his effectiveness is all in his head. He's been playing with joy and IMO that has caused better play. (one could argue it's the other way around, that playing well has returned joy to his game, but i don't think that's the case here. The team has hit some some rough patches in games where i see him trying to keep his chin up and stay positive)
i also think he benefits from someone like Grimes as much as he does from Brunson. He benefits from a reliable outlet. SOmeone he trusts flipping the ball too when he drives and dishes
we need another reliable shooter -- even off the bench. Will EF contribute? do we chase someone like D.Robinson
i'm happy that he's happy
also happy that he's playing so well

A few months ago, some argued that Randle should be traded post haste. That his trade value wasnt getting any higher. I thought Randle was capable of increasing his trade value, before the first deadline. And sure enough he has.

It makes so little sense I assume you just dont want to be honest about not liking the guy.
Chandler wrote:preseason i was saying Randle returning to all NBA (3d team) form will do more for the team than Donovan (who is great, but never has been all NBA and his size at SG creates a dilemma)To me its as simple as the team around him is better (which is pretty much what you are saying also)IMO his effectiveness is all in his head.
Will EF contribute? do we chase someone like D.Robinson
i'm happy that he's happy
also happy that he's playing so well
RJ/Grimes/Mitch are all better and obviously Brunson is fantastic and those 5 are really developing nice chemistry

Randle has been beasting. JB is also his savior. Randle looks different with JB on the team.

You are just not noticing that all of Randles 20/10 are "meaningless".
Or the fact that like Starbury, Randle only scores.
You would think even though it would mean admitting they were wrong, Randle haters would appreciate how Randle did what most tough New Yorkers do often. Took a tough situation in which he made obvious mistakes and did not run from facing them here. Fixed some issues, worked hard and proved haters wrong. There should be a lot said from him enduring that NY hate and fighting hard to prove he wants to be here. Which is something many other good players stayed away from.
Hey but let's trade him. I am sure most of the top players will come. Besides, we would have to trade a first for some other team to take him.

You won’t see it. I might have been done. Fans not privy to it.
Just like we don’t know who is available.
Don’t forget Randles contract is not bad. Look it up.
Look at Beals. Ouch. Lavine. Ouch. Look it up. Its easy.
Thibs said last year he needed to do a better job coaching him. He is.
He don't want to hear logic. He just wants his dream Obi to have a shot. Regardless of how that affects the Knicks.

Like Fish said, what fucking tram is trading their All Star performing player in the middle of the season? You can't make this kind of hater thinking up.
Who the hell thinks Randle is a number ONE??
He is a good player. Strong PF who can creat mismatches and demand double teams. Makes less than most at same production level. Puts up 20/10 annually and you think we should trade him asap?. Who is in the cult?
