how is Obi ready? Situational is garbage time and that makes a ton of sense. Long season, don't risk Obi.

Why?

Thibs, that you ?

It's an honest question. For what benefit to all involved?

It can't be worse than the Hart/Sims tandem. I appreciate their effort, but it is a definitely a break in case of emergency move.

Simms and Heart has to go. Play Simms or Heart with Obi. But play Obi more then either in small lineups.

The formula that the Knicks have gone on a tear with in December is a combo of interior defense and rebounding.

Small lineup of Obi and Randle doesn’t really emphasize that.

Hart/Sims is maybe not the best 4/5 but just sticking Obi out there is also not a solution.

What’s the purpose of Obi/Randle outside of getting Obi minutes?

That same combo was also one of many symptoms that popped up during 5 game skid. I'm not saying Obi is the solution, but it can't be worse.

Right, I was trying to see if there was something actually positive about Obi/Randle itself outside of minutes for Obi.

Not for nothing, but nearly every two-man unit featuring Hart has a negative plus minus. Not that Obi is much better, but you put the two of them together and it's a becomes a positive. As for the purpose Of said it would be try and see how much of offensive boost it would give and if it's enough to make up for the defense.

Obi and Randle will give the other team fits. Change the tempo and force major mismatches. Plus give the team other options on offense and defensively I think it will be a positive for the team

I have to tell you, I don’t even know what to make of 2-man units and what the value is at looking any plus/minus for them. Where do you find those stats?

All I know is that Thibs prob won’t go with Randle/Obi in any serious way, so it’s all moot anyway.

You’re telling me this kid with the shitty apartment can afford to repeatedly call DoorDash?
Alpha1971 @ 1/4/2023 7:43 PM
When is RJ going to return. Can't he play with a protective cover on his non shooting hand ?

NBA.com. Most plus/minus stats are iffy. Two man units allow you to drill down a little more without the influence of Quick and McBride. Would I bet the farm based on those figures. Naw, but they are interesting. The Obi/Hart pairing does meet the eye test.

ToddTT @ 1/4/2023 7:49 PM
We have two bonafide point guards on the floor. And 4 guys on the floor that can perform PG duties.

5 if you count Mitch. They just never let him have any fun. I think he’d bring it up the floor dribbling between his legs each time. Then break anybody’s ankles that decides to test him.

blkexec @ 1/4/2023 7:51 PM
Turned on the game. Score 8-2

All I saw was one possession by Brunson and I’m going crazy right now. We have a real killer.

And to my former and current guards or just basketball fans…………did you see those multiple moves after he slipped?

The two players have opposite talents, Toppin's and up-tempo above the rim player that like to move without the ball, and Randle's a half-court temple player that like to dribble and distribute the ball. You could count on one hand how many times Randle threw a lob pass to a teammate, or down court to start a fast break in his 4 seasons as a Knicks.

blkexec @ 1/4/2023 7:52 PM
So grimes is the SF? That’s good work for him. Probably his weakest position between PG, SG and SF
blkexec @ 1/4/2023 8:02 PM
Randle with the nasty block

Nice to see Hart busy on offense

Poetl looks like Will Ferrel and Blake Griffin got caught in the fly transporter together.

I watch the games MSG thru FUBU and the service is usually terrible. Anyone have problems with MSG on FUBU ?
BigDaddyG @ 1/4/2023 8:29 PM
You know what? Stanley Johnson would fit in well on 5he Knicks bench? Maybe Pop would be interested in Cam?
