Maybe we can get one of those future Laker's picks... Rose/Fournier/Cam for Westbrook works and I think really helps them. Maybe you give them Obi and you get a future #1 unprotected or top 3 only.
In any case we would have the same line up but Westbrook can back up Brunson, Hart can backup Mitch and IQ can backup everyone else.
Westbrook is a wreacking ball and his drive and dish game is plug and play with this team. Thibs can keep him on a short leash but you know there will be times he goes off and those big games where we get to ride him a bit will be huge in saving minutes for our starters.
Seems like a short term fix (weak bench) to an immediate problem that could pay nice dividends and yield another draft asset. Helps the Lakers
I like McBride but he's not ready and Thibs knows it. Keep working on those scoring chops and fight for minutes next year.
He’s just too much like IQ. Too much overlap there.

that's a positive. I would start 4 IQs and Mitch if I could

ok Maybe Brunson can start but then Im brining that other IQ off the bench
I have totally changed my mind on this.
I'd do it, depending on what is coming back and what I am sending out. I might even send out a draft pick (Our or Dallas, worse, better of, etc)
I'd also want to assess everything else out there before pulling the trigger.
I'd honestly like to see RJ off the bench, and wish Thibs had tried that when he had the chance.

Except IQ plays D and Westbrook doesn’t.

Disagree with IQ and West being the same.
Westbrook, in his latter years, has become more of a facilitator.
Has also been that when at his best.
Like the fact we would get rid of three guys not playing for one that will a lot.
Only issue is I feel we need more outside shooting in second unit. Russ not that.
But like I said, three guys that don't play for one that will and a pick sounds good.

I meant they are similar in a very general sense. Both combo guards who do a lot of the same things on offense. A lot of overlap. They aren’t complimentary of one another. I’d rather have a bigger wing who can impact the game in different ways.
The pick is nice and its a dump. Say we just waive Westbrick?
What do we do with the Cap space created?
Are there better trades that help now and later?
Should be be using that salary for a starting position upgrade like Ayton?
I discussed earlier today a trade with Robinson and Assets with suns for an example.

Think both are fast paced and put a lot of pressure on the defense. IQ also compliments Russ with his outside threat. Would not mind seeing them play together. If it is for what Fish suggests.
Do agree that we need a wing that can shoot more.
I would do it for either an unprotected pick, while we send them a second rounder as well.
If they want protection, that is fine.. top 10 protected for 5 years straight... then unprotected.
This would ruin Lakers flecibility for half a decade.. I would be all in on that.
No to Westbrick for the gazillionth time. He doesn't D. He is like Rose without the shot. The biggest problem will be that he actually WOULD play. Can we get a player that can shoot and play d? The anti-Westbrook , if you will

when was the last time Rose had triple doubles... Westbrook is a much more physical player. Rose is a finesse player at this point. Westbrook is still a scud missile.
What has Westbrook done for the lakers with davis and Lebron. Hes been a chemistry and team killer.

Westbrook has played in 41 out of 44 games.
LeBron 34, Davis 25.
Westbrook is scoring 15 points and handing out almost 8 assists in 28 minutes off the bench.
We could probably use Jerami Grant - fish's other suggestion - better than Westbrook.

we 100% do not need westbrook with JBand IQ we need a wing who can take a role off the bench as a 7th guy preferably over 6-5
Only as a cap maneuver, only if they cut him. I had a feeling that Westbrook would thrive off the bench, at this stage in his career.
Yet, there always seems to be some drama that follows him from team to team. Enough for teams to move on from him in short order. Westbrook will get his stats, but they never seem to be enough for teams to want to keep him. The FO should factor that in.

no shit Dick Tracy. Who? The point is to look at the available pool of guys who can help, not the imaginary ones, or not very good ones with imaginary Briggs super powers (Anthony Randolph, BJ Muellens, Hasheem Thabeet kinda powers)
Grant would help... he would be my target. I think Portland would bite. We can help each other.

what drama? Name the drama please... seriously
He's wildly overpaid. Good player. Not a supermax guy obviously. Traded for other not super max guys. Ive never heard of any drama. All he does is play hard. Not the highest IQ player either. The Randle of PGs if you will. Remember this is a bench role and he would be ab impact guy and we get a draft asset or two
Westbrook and Durant: Why Durant left OKC
Westbrook and the Rockets: Demanded a trade with 3 years left on his deal.
Westbrook and the Lakers: Please dont tell me you havent heard anything.

not really true
only partially true
and no. He played poorly, took a huge amount of abuse and kept showing up and playing hard. That's not drama. Thats a $40mm guy playing poorly in LA.
Randle was more dramatic last year than anything Westbrook has done
