Just feeling sorry for all the NBA writers who had to write essays on this lame ass trade and act like it actually means something. It seems like there's much more NBA worthy news in the typical game. How do the Raptors and Wizards recent convincing wins over the Knicks shake up the playoffs and trade deadlines? I'm guessing those front offices feel a lot more comfortable to stay on 19 and see if the house busts. And how about Kyrie finally leading the Durantless Nets to a victory? Interesting stuff happens on the court every night in the saga of the NBA which is then flushed as if all games are equal.
So the in depth analysis of how an up and down late draft pick effects the fortunes of the West 10 seed seems like a waste of time for all around. I'm more forgiving in the off season when even reasonable people can write "With the biggest steal of the draft and a competent bench of veterans, the Pistons could be the 4 seed." Shit like that is fun and serves the fan base. As far as Rui goes, Reuters should be all we get "Wizards trade 2019 9th pick Rui Hachimura to Lakers for 3 second round picks." Anything beyond that is a disservice to the actual drama on the court.
