Miami is the team to beat for the 6th seed and playoffs so this was a big win! Just a game behind them now. And we beat them without Brunson and at home where we absolutely suck! We were begging to give this game away at the end! Especially RJ! I know he had a monster game with 30/8/4 and it's going to sound unfair and that I'm picking on him but I'm just being honest. He almost cost us this game with just dumb bone head turnovers! He is also damn lucky Herro missed that game winning three cause his rotation was god awful and slow! Randle helped but Herro got a good look and thankfully missed! RJ is becoming last's years Randle to me in terms of giving me agita! He's so frustrating to watch! Honestly I won't be upset if he's traded in the next week.

Congrats to Randle on his second All-Star game. This proves his pandemic season was not a fluke as most previously thought. This is one of the best redemption stories in Knicks and NY sports history. Just remember where Randle was last year and how much everyone hated him and wanted him gone, myself included. I admit I didn't think there would be any way he was going to get back to this All-Star level. Kudos to him for his hard work and dedication. To do what he did here in NY especially is a huge accomplishment and he should be proud and celebrated!

Loved what Deuce gave us last night. Hit two huge threes and played great defense as usual. Grimes too was really good and finally hit a clutch three and made a sick pass to Hartenstein for a dunk. Also locked down Butler ad held him to 10 points! Obi was also good and gave us some big baskets to start the fourth.

You cant talk about RJ struggling.. there's a pompom waiving mental case that's gonna crawl up your butt. RJ was pissy about being benched late. If you watch him in crunch time there is NO WAY you keep him on the floor. He makes bad passes, bad decisions, bad rotations, bad defense.

6th man/scorer is looking more and more like the best role for him. How can anyone say they want him on the floor at the end of games? Not over Grimes/IQ at this point.

RJ came alive in that 3rd and that was huge. I like RJ. I want him to play better. I like the Knicks more and want them to win. Big game. Big win. Needed that one

Knicks would've lost by 20+ points without R.J. Barrett's 30 Points, 8 Rebounds and 4 Assists + excellent perimeter Defender.

PS: R.J. Barrett scored 9 Points in the 4th Quarter too (monster 2nd half overall).

Do you mind toning it down a bit! It's very juvenile. Guys make legitimate criticisms and you treat it like some personal attack and repeat ad nauseum whatever stats as if thats responsive. No one is denying RJ got 30 point 8 boards and 4 assists, or that we benefitted from that. I don't know where you get great perimeter defense from? Maybe you weren't witnessing Strus and Herro shooting Heat back into the game or that but for Randle closing out on last shot because RJ was MIA Herro may have hit the game winner. The point being made is that for all the benefit of his scoring last night he almost gave the game back

And there were a number of very sloppy rotations as Fish noted. RJ would do well to step up his game because he has some serious competition from Grimes as the teams SG and we're a move or draft away from serious SF competition.

RJ had a good game. His crunch time bumbling almost cost us again. Hopefully Thibs notices, and just rides his Kobe caliber play until crunch time when his low BB IQ doesnt sink us. If you watched the game you saw this. If you watch GAMES you see this alot

I watch all of our games but I understand he's only 22 years of age and also comprehend how he's still the youngest player on our entire team.

RJ had a great game going to the basket. Still had his blinders on but, yes, without his play we lose by over 10. We have to be patient with him. However, complaints about his bad decision making late is valid. Do agree that it is inconsistent if we are to say we want to build a team and start wanting to sit our young players who are coming up and producing. Regardless of short term outcome. How else will they learn? That goes for trading our solid producers who need to continue to improve. Building a team takes patience. Something fans don't have.

Yep and the Herro extension Knicks in next season too. Pat is going to have to pledge fealty to Sauron to work enough magic out of that mess.
Haven;t seen Duncan Robinson and his $18m per since Randle was enjoying shooting 3point ducks in a barrel with no fans in the stands.

I can't lie.
I've gotta be honest here.

I was ready to give Duncan Robinson the 💰 💰 💰💰BAG💰💰💰💰 heading into last year's off-season because I was convinced he was becoming an All-Time top 5 3PT shooter of All-Time.

But I'm glad we didn't give him the 💰💰💰💰 bag 💰💰💰💰 because now looking @ his box score numbers? He's declined as a shooter from 3 not only last year but also this year too.

And you're right about Kyle Lowry. Only 3 points tonight and throughout 24 minutes of play I didn't even realize he was playing. But I can't say he looked cooked, because I didn't even notice him.

Steve Novak 2.0?

Heck.

The Knicks are a top 10 most talented NBA Contending team, because of well; "the Standings".

Sorry actual metrics don't go along with your confirmation bias. You can;t just enjoy the win tho you still have to white knight for a bunch of snowflake jetnation mods who called anyone who disagreed with them about Zach Wilson for 2 years a retarded person

The Knicks now have the 10th best record within the entire NBA and just beat Miami despite being without our Starting PG (Jalen Brunson) and starting Center (Mitchell Robinson) but yet you wanna tell us all how "Miami is much more talented than New York"?

If we improve our bench, by trade deadline, and our first unit plays together, we are a tough team to play.

With the ways both of Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle are leading us as an All-Star PG/PF Caliber duo?

I really like the idea of trading multiple (3) 1st round picks for OG while keeping our young prospects together (Grimes coming off the bench automatically improves our 2nd unit too).

C; Mitchell Robinson.
PF: Julius Randle.
SF: OG Anunoby.
SG: R.J. Barrett (Natural Position).
PG: Jalen Brunson.

That's a Starting 5 that can do some serious damage come postseason play (with A+++ Defense too).

C; Isaiah Hartenstein.
PF: Obi Toppin.
SF: Quentin Grimes.
SG: Deuce McBride.
PG: Immanuel Quickley.

That's a backup 5 that can develop alongside of one another (while providing instant fire power).

I truly feel we're an OG Anunoby away from becoming instant contenders.

Maybe. Only pause is that OG has not really helped a team with Pascal, VanVleet and Barnes. All good players and you would think the fit would work there.
Would rather save those picks to include in a package for a true number one in the off season.
Or to move up in strong draft. Also, not a fan of trading picks for a guy due a pay raise.
My hope is that we improve our bench and add another shooter.

Was Miami missing any of their core rotation players outside of Oladipo?

They are a strange team, I know they'll be better but that is not the usual Miami team to me.

Chandler @ 2/3/2023 1:30 PM
^^ Butler and Lowry were not the butler and lowry you know. I don't expect to see the old lowry ever again. He looks slow and fat and largely not giving AF

that said they got A+ games from Bam, Herro and Strus so i think we can say we got a fair shot at Miami

They are a strange team, I know they'll be better but that is not the usual Miami team to me.

Only one who i could think of (outside of Victor Oladipo) who we didn't see playing last night, was Duncan Robinson.

The cHeat are one of those teams that don't take the regular season too seriously. As long as they are in the playoffs, which chances are they will be, and are healthy they can give any of the East contenders a long series. I wouldn't sleep on them.

I also expect The Rat to be active next week.

It's never easy for us.

Heat are just way more talented
Um.

No they aren't.

We're beating them WITHOUT Jalen Brunson.

"Way more talented".

My ass.

Check the standings.

They are more talented.

How is Miami more talented despite the fact A.) We're only 1.0 back of them in the Standings and B.) Just beat them without both of our Starting PG (Jalen Brunson) and Starting Center (Mitchell Robinson)?

Please explain yourself?

(enlighten me).

The Knicks are MORE TALENTED than the likes of....

Lakers.
Toronto.
Pelicans.
Hawks.
Jazz.
Suns.
Warriors.
Minnesota.
Mavs.

(Just to name a few).

OG is not Scottie Pippen and isn't going to make us contenders. He would make us better if he is as good as advertised and we need a strong wing defender to check the guys Grimes and IQ are too small to guard.

And RJ is not a natural SG when he cannot shoot consistently.

If we do acquire OG (and I think we will), I'd send RJ to the bench to run that second unit with IQ. No shame in being Manu on a good team but kids today are different. RJ can still get 30 mpg off the bench. I'm not super high on OG but he is a better defender and shooter than RJ and might be a better fit in the SL. We cannot bench Grimes. We desperately need him defensively.

PF Randle
SF OG
C Robinson
SG Grimes
PG Brunson
SF RJ
PG IQ

Nice top 7 but still a closer and a sniper three point shooter away from getting to the second round imo.

The Heat are more talented than the Knicks. That’s not an outrageous statement and I like our team. It’s definitely not as outrageous as 90% of the stupid groupthink drivel on that other pro-censorship messageboard

I heard the game on the radio last night and looked at highlights and see the boxscore. I see Deuce hit some shots in limited minutes. How was the "eye test?" Anyone?

Eye test good. Played super important role with Obi Fournier in holding and extending that early 4th lead that probably paved way for starters to finish strong instead of needing to dig out of hole or start even.

Looked confident shooting. Couldn't ask for more.
