Need to be signed out or have an electronic ankle bracelet on.
PhilC is in there two. In some corner dribbling saliva going on about Zach Wilson and playing with is little Elf on a shelf doll one of the nice lunch ladies gave him.

😭

Often the optimist is seen as a fool, while the pessimist the wise sage.
This week knicks beat Miami without Brunson. Today they beat a hot team. A hot road team. The beat philly without RJ. In the last week or so we beat miami, Boston, and phily without them or Mitch.

Why not just enjoy the game, the contest and see what happens. Looks like the Garden was a great place to be.

More better teams than weak ones.

I see the Knicks finishing out, without an impact trade, 10-18.

So, 6 games under .500, missing the play-in.

76ers = Win.
Orlando = Win.

And we're now 4 games above .500.

You really think we're only going 8-18 from here on out?

4 games above .500 (after 56 games) but yet we'll finish 10 games below .500 (throughout only 26 games remaining)?

Something isn't adding up (mathematically speaking).

Trade or no trade.

We're getting Mitchell Robinson back and he'll impact/improve our entire rotation (more than any possible mid-season trade ever could).

NYStateOfMind @ 2/8/2023 8:54 AM
I hope it isn't. This was based off of their play at that time and pre-trades. Let the deadline pass and we can re-assess. Philly in Philly might be a rough Friday night, they'll want payback. It is still going to be a tough remaining 26 games. Winning the 1st quarter might help, lol.

We are not the same person, I am State and he is Mental, haha.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/fri...

basketball reference has a playoff and draft probabilities page. I find it useful in keeping my expectations in check. The numbers change a lot and quickly for teams in the middle. Knicks have 9 games vs teams above in the standings. Those games will go a lot to determining the final standings. Importantly, Knicks have already played 4 out of 5 Milwaukee/ Denver games.

I'm just going to take the fact that the Knicks have the toughest rated schedule ahead is because we haven't played and beaten those teams yet to make it a weaker rated schedule

It's another fine, fine jinx thread. Keep them coming.

Since 2/5, Knicks are 4-1 against Philly, @Magic, @Philly, Utah, Nets.

He had us finishing 6-18 (.357%).

We've since gone 4-1 (.800%).

But, to be fair:

He did make it known his Record Prediction was based on if our Knicks failed to trade for an impact player. And I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt because Josh Hart has already made a big time impact on this team (even before Mitchell Robinson's return @ that).

And I'm no one to make fun of someones wrong record prediction

🤣Because I predicted 60 wins last year😭

But this year I learned from my mistakes, tempered my expectations; and predicted a top 3 seed.

Since 11/25, which is arbitrarily just about a half season's worth of games for all teams, the Knicks are:

https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/advanced...

- 25-17 (42 games total), 6th best record in league.
- 4th best Offensive Rating
- 12th best Defensive Rating
- 6th best Net Rating

Mitch out 14 of those games

"10-18"

We've now gone 6-1 (.857%) since this thread was created.

In order to go 10-18 (final 28) the Knicks would have to go 4-17 (.190%) from here on out.

After a solid start and a few nice winning streaks, this would be nothing other than a major disappointment. Hopefully, this finally exposes a stubborn Thibs and they move on or get him an assistant offensive coach.

As for the team in regards to close games, first in OT: 2-6 half of them ended within a basket either way. If you take out the Boston OT win, they haven't won an OT game since 10/26, eek. For non-OT mixed in, they are what their record states, about a .500 team. They do win more close games in regulation. So, in tight ones and OT, they are 8-7.

Things we know, they won't fire Thibs this late into the season, especially with a current winning and soon-to-be losing record. Cam will be traded or stay DNP'd, EF is the same. D Rose, who knows what that story is? He is a Thibs guy and was a spark off the bench just 2 seasons ago, and now a DNP guy. Who knew we would miss Taj this much? Trades probably won't make an impact, so lateral moves. Mitch's return will help some. Obi is misused on this team and might get traded selling low. Sims is a waste without PnRs, shouldn't be starting. RJ is coached poorly. Randle despite playing mostly great given his skillset still has a low IQ and doesn't know when to stop complaining and get back on D.

Positives, Grimes and IQ, look very solid. JB we got lucky to get him this cheap. Randle plays with heart. RJ has the talent, just needs to be held accountable (Bryant fix him like you mostly did Jules). Mitch plays well when not injured. Obi has talent and a nice corner 3, plus he rebounds. iHart has been misused but plays tough, even if his shot is sometimes brutal. Svi actually knows how to hit a 3, even in garbage time. Cam has the talent and would have definitely helped in some of these games, but maybe his mind isn't right. Yet, others still get playtime despite turnovers and acting like babies. Rose is a vet, maybe he is shot, if not he could be helping. Even EF gave effort the other night, being rusty was expected with his lack of usage. But RJ can go 0-5 & 1-8 from 3, guard no one, foul everyone and get a game-leading 44 minutes.

Some trade players the Knicks have been linked to aren't the answer. Beasley, pass. Vandy, maybe, but doesn't help offensively enough to matter. OG, yes, but the cost will be too much. Lavine probably stays or costs too much. Bey, sure, for the right cost and that isn't Obi plus a 1st, Obi is a 1st. Caruso, pass, we already have IQ. Grayson, sure, but what's the cost, and do they even want to move him?

Just another season of not being good or bad enough to improve or for anyone to care. Until they change that, this will continue and the NBA/refs will continue to abuse this franchise with disrespect.
