Grimes will have games where he has it going and closes.
Having two way guys like Hart, Grimes and IQ makes the team better.
We now need more from Obi.I agree. I admittedly am not as high on Grimes as some guys-I see a high level 3 and D guy, maybe 1 or 2 all star appearances....guy like Starks maybe or Bobby Phills. But that is just me. He is definitely a 2 way player. I agree the more 2 way guys a team has the better.
Obi needs to be less dependant on others setting him up and try to show what he can donwithin the flow of the game (he is getting his opportunities)
If you expect allstar appearances from grimes than you are higher on him than most.
I expect 1 maybe 2...that is peak if everything goes right and he is the best version of himself.
Look at the type of season Brunson is having an he’s not an allstar. Do you see a scenario where Grimes has a season anywhere close to Brunson?
No. None. Grimes will never score at the level Brunson is scoring at. My very strong opinion. I see Grimes as a a level lower than Allan Houstonn/Latrell Sprewell. Maybe Kerry Kittles?
Here's my thing, and once again I could be wrong. I know the metrics say otherwise, but I think his defense is not that great. He will hopefully grow out of the bone head mistakes. And I don't think henis a smart defender either. Some defenders break down defense to an art form. I don't think that's Grimes. He looks like a reactive defender. An above average reactive defender, but just that. Nothing else about him really stands out.
Disagree about his scoring ceiling. If Grimes was main ball handler, he would be scoring at a very high click as well. Some forget what he showed last year and in summer ball.
His defense is already elite despite only being in his second year. With every match up, he will continue to learn opposing players tendencies.
May be a better fit in the second unit, for now, but he will be a main part of this team going forward and will be a game closer when he has his shot going.
Predict that he will be an All Star level player.#H2O.2 with defense.

Adding Josh Hart to the rotation as RJ Barrett's backup to increase the players in the game rotation to a 10 man rotation have been a need all season.Josh Hart put up some nice stats against the Utah Jazz, I was hoping to see Josh Hart defend the 76ers Maxey, Niang, and Harris like Cam Reddish did for a Knicks win.
However, only in the New NBA you would see a 6.3 forward Josh Hart ..
Back in the Daze a player like SF-Bird, SF-Barkley, SF Pippen, and the Big-SG Jordan, Drexler, Miller would all have 60 pt games having Josh Hart defend them.
Your disapproval guarantees this to be the right move. Since you have been wrong about everything else.
Or are you that reverse jinx guy?
How good is Brunson? How did we get so lucky? He is the dream player! Never misses a game, works his ass off, no drama, perfect teammate, likeable guy and his game is so much fun to watch! He was just amazing again last night with 38! It's a crime he is not an All-Star but whatever. He's an All-Star!
Randle was great too! First time since the 80s that we had two players with back to back 30 plus point games! Mixed bag again from RJ. Hit a big three and played well in the fourth but his defense is just not there right now. Everyone goes around him or scores on him with little resistance. He's Fournier bad right now in that area and he must get better or he'll be on the bench in crunch time. IQ has almost been the exact opposite of RJ. And when you honestly think about it, IQ has been our third best player the last two month's. He's so consistent with his defense, energy, running the team and hitting shots. Loved him playing next to Hart in that lineup too.

We now need more from Obi.Yeah and we can start by passing him the ball when he's open.
That was RJ that missed him wide open under the basket, right?
Folks kill Obi, but I think his problem is we don't seem to create opportunities for him to cut to the basket. All our passes are easy, on the perimiter. Nothing that tries to probe and attack the basket.
I'm glad we saw Hart & Obi connect.
Obi dribbles to the rim, see's help come or a defender and scurries away. Despite his exciting dunking he's NOT a contact guy. He's a finesse guy

What a meanie. Leave Obi aloooone!
I agree that Obi should play like he's trying to take Randle'a job. He seems to be trying very hard not to make any mistakes. You rarely see Obi turn the ball over.
I believe its telling that the one player who made a concerted effort to get Obi the ball where he likes it was Hart, the new guy. Like to see more of that from Obi's teammates, as well as Obi taking a little more initiative.

I'm a huge Allan Houston fan. And I said I saw Grimes to be a one or two time All star tier player. Then I was told my opinion is higher than most.
I don't put alot of stock in his summer league stuff. Would be alot more comfortable if he showed it in flashes at the NBA level than against players he is clearly out of their league.

There were two different players pointing toward Obi on that play. It'd be one thing if that happened every once in a while. But RJ does this regularly.

Can you please show me multiple videos of multiple teammates pointing towards Obi (or other teammates) where R.J. Barrett didn't see them wide open?
Because we all watch the same games so if it's happening "regularly" it should be easy to find and share, no?

Was referring to his role in summer ball. As we saw, when given the ball and made the main ball handler/offensive threat, he was much more versatile.
Not just a spot up shooter. As he is currently.

We all know one of RJ's problems is that he often has blinders on. His current bball IQ is mostly based on imitating Kobe's offensive prowess. Mostly the one where he could score no matter who or how many guys were on him. Ignoring the basic concepts of good basketball and team play.
However, this one play does not excuse Obi from being nothing more than a soft spot up shooter and a guy basket hanging showing off dunks.
I want the guy in the Cincinnati highlight clips that seemed to try to rip the rim down every time and bullied people down low. Or at least do some of what we saw JHart do in his first game. Impact the game in several levels.

You are definitely right about him being more than just a spot up shooter. That first step from the corner is quick. But I think henwill have to develop quite a bit to be a 20 pt scorer. I think-my opinion- he tops out at about 17 per game with mid rebs and maybe 4 or 5 assists (his passing is underrated)
