To improve our chances of getting their pick?
Hell no.
I'm more a fan of this 2022-2023 team (along with our current group of players) than I am some random kid who's currently playing NCAA basketball right now.

This will be one of those win-win games. If we win, it improves our record. If we lose, it improves our chances of getting Washington’s pick. But in the end, I want this team to win every game.

Yep. The Wizards have become my second team. I won't be too upset with a loss because the Wiz need all the help they can get. Still want the win tho.
Playoff seeding is a wonderful reason to be balling out right now. It's like two years ago all over again. So psyched to win every game we possibly can. Let's shoot for ECF this year, really no reason why not. Tough D can do wonders to post-season winning.
I want Washington's pick, but they don't need our help to make the playoffs.
Plus don’t the protections on the pick lower in ensuing years?
Ah, Knicks “fans.”
I’d like to see this pick NOT convert this year.
1 Knicks won’t use it. They will trade it
2 it has higher upside each year
3 it remains an asset for flexibility in use

It does... our BEST scenario is we get a late lottery pick in a couple years.
2023 first round draft pick from Washington
Washington's 1st round pick to New York protected for selections 1-14 in 2023, 1-12 in 2024, 1-10 in 2025 and 1-8 in 2026; if Washington has not conveyed a 1st round pick to New York by 2026, then Washington will instead convey its 2026 2nd round pick and 2027 2nd round pick to New York (via Houston to Oklahoma City) [Houston-Washington, 12/2/2020; Houston-Oklahoma City, 7/30/2021; New York-Oklahoma City, 6/23/2022]

The pick has changed hands twice — going from the Rockets to the Oklahoma City Thunder to the New York Knicks. The Wizards now owe the Knicks a first-round pick this year if it's outside the lottery. The protections after that are top 12 in 2024, top 10 in 2025 and top eight in 2026.
Yes let's hope we get the pick in a future year like 2024 2025. It will have more trade value as well. What are the protections on the Detroit first rounder ? I'm sure the Knicks will use the Dallas pick and try to replicate the Grimes and IQ success with a combo forward

Bird in the hand yada, yada, yada. Wiz could be looking at having to sign both KP and Kuz this summer. Yeah, they're probably gonna have KP for another year, but no telling how many games he'll miss. Kuz hasn't given any assurances. There's no telling how competitive the Wiz will be in the coming years. I'd rather get that pick now than risk it not conveying at all.

I can certainly understand that but I cannot fathom wanting to lose any game this year.

LOL. This had me smiling all morning.

Think we should lose every game the rest of the year. That way we can pick up an Obi Toppin type player in 2023 draft. Then if we lose most of our games in 23/24, we can pick up an RJ type player in 24. Then when they don't pan out we can trade those players and do it all over again. Fun times.
I am a fan of winning. And letting the draft lottery destiny take care of itself.
See the Wiz wanting to compete sooner rather than later. Hopefully before 2026.
No issues caseloads. Let’s be honest our brains are wired for twenty years that a loss is a win at most points. But our reality is we’re in the moment and we’re good. So I think we can all be of the same mindset. We wanna win!!!!!!!! Caseloads you’re a great long term fan— you’ve been here twenty years like others have. Enjoy a nice game and on the side we can root against Dallas and for the wizards when they don’t play da Knicks

IF Washington made it to the first round, would likely be the 15th in what's supposed to be a deep draft.
That means the 'better window' is 14 to 9 but only on a limited basis, meaning 14 to 13 in 2024, 14-11 in '25, and 14-9 in '26, respectively.
That's threading a needle hoping the Wiz don't get any better but only get a little worse. Plus there's the small chance of a 14 through 9 lottery odds landing in the top 4.
And that's not even accounting for the quality of the draft those years.
If the pick lands at 15 this year, that's totally fine.
Would Pat Riley think that way and want the Wizards to win against us to help is get their pick ? Think like a winner. Riley would want his team to win
