Sims rebounding, maybe that double center lineup with him and Hartenstein. Tough loss. You read my mind, this exactly what I was going to post. F it, get Fournier in there for some scoring ,maybe Rose as well. We do have some hungry players on the bench, Simms could have brought some energy. Deuce could have used more minutes as well.
Thibs wasn’t his best, as far as adjustments. It was clear to us that Randle was off and towards the end of the 1st he was bricking. That was a clear sign to me he was tired or fatigued. With some roster adjustments we could’ve won this game. We needed deuce defense and energy. Same with Obi. But thibs is a creature of habit which is why we won 9 straight. But I believe that double OT took a lot out of this team, especially IQ and Randle.

Perhaps. In retrospect, sure we could have kept Randle, IQ and RJ at around 30 minutes. (5 less than they had) Believe that was probably the plan until we lost the big lead and needed to end the 4th with our best. The fan will always want to blame the coach for a loss without taking into account the playing side. For me, it was obvious this was mental fatigue and not physical. A long season has many of these games and getting up for all of them is always a challenge. Especially against the teams you feel are easy wins.
This is something all players need to deal with if they are going to excel as a team.
Randle looked out of it, IQ was having trouble keeping the same level of focus that he had against Boston and MR looked much less interested. This was an example of a typical let down game where no one got up for it. Except a few that have not played much. Could Thibs have left guys that had more energy, like Deuce, Grimes and Obi in? Sure but that would not have guaranteed a win nor would it allow the main cast to learn an important lesson. Hopefully they take away more from this loss than if they would have won.
But guess it's easier to blame it on the coach using good ole Monday morning arm chair quarterbacking.

Wait a second, at 8:30 in the 4th when McBride and Hartenstein had gotten an 8 point lead back and Thibs brought in Robinson and IQ you didn't start scratching your head? If I know off the top of my head that the Obi/ Robinson two man lineup is the worst on the team, you don't think Thibs does? Absolutely zero surprise that CLiT immediately got a layup.
Split these two games without him. If I had to pick one, happy we got the Celts game on National TV.
This loss is one everybody. Including Thibs. Nobody played well. I know RJ had 27 but he did nothing in the second half and got torched by whoever he was guarding. The eye test rarely lies. RJ took the night off defensively. Games like this makes me want to ship his ass out this summer asap cause I cannot stand lazy players!
And with this road trip coming up, I won't be the least bit surprised if we go on a losing streak. We need Brunson back or this win streak we just had will become another fluke.
Nalod wrote:They are tired. It happens.
ITs why they play the games.
They had a day off on Monday so no excuses. We didn't take them seriously and thought the game was over at halftime and got our asses handed to us. We got 15 games plus whatever left until we get eliminated left so being tired is inexcusable at this point.

Because NY's got an absolutely amazing Head Coach who keeps his kids focused (heading into every game).
Tom Thibs and his players are all dialed in right now.
Knicks over Charlotte tonight and by over 40+-50+ points too (NBA SLAUGHTERING).
Yup and so have 12/15 @ .800% of other recent game threads I've shown excitement within.

Yep - if any consistent critique of Thibs is he refuses to read body language of tired players where in a game like this if your bench is playing well — give them an extra few minutes of run rather than going back to an obviously mentally/ physically exhausted Julius & maybe Quick.
Hard to be mad at Thibs though as his style/methods do seem to develop tough minded players — just seems like he could bend slightly on some nights but he sticks to his beliefs.
i was really hoping Grimes or Obi would step up, neither of whom had any "tired" excuses but...
let's start a new winning streak

You make a good point. My point was that this was more about mental fatigue. Something the key guys have to learn how to overcome. Are you saying that Thibs should have deviated from what got him 9 in a row? Would Hart and Mcbribe kept it going through the final 8;30?

We did our best with RJ leading a second unit offense that was fresh. But yesterday was a classic trap game with a pretty tired team that played a lot of intense, close games. And they were missing the brains/cool hands at the wheel.
If we get hca in the first round, fine, if not we’ll make do.
Interestingly, we can still get HCA against almost every western conference team (except the Nuggets) should we be fortunate enough to make it to the finals.
(I would be surprised if the Nuggets come out of the west)

That means they're one of 30 NBA teams.
Every and any NBA team can lose to every any NBA team during the reg season, and all of them do.

Because I'm a nice person, I'm going to explain why you get this response from multiple people and not just me.
Because it's all about you.
It's about this performative persona.
Which you're allowed to try to cultivate.
But you get pushback because at the end of the day because it shows both a misunderstanding of, and in effect, a disrespect for NBA basketball. You have a one track mind looking for A season to match you percussion line.
You said so yourself, 2013-14 was the season which everyone doubted your enthusiasm, which you recall so fondly.
There is nothing wrong with being enthusiastic and optimistic, but you take it to such an extreme level you leave no room for the Knicks to be human and for other NBA teams to be capable of having a good night.
Had a good season in 2020-2021? 'They're winning 60 this year!' On a winning streak? 'We're winning 50 and finishing 3rd?' Playing a poor opponent at home? 'They're winning by 50!'
You take away the Knicks ability to just be a good, human, NBA team and for that to be good enough. And continually seem to not see what's a standard aspect of the game coming.
You're looking for comic book superheroes more than a favorite NBA team. Which again is fine, if that's your thing. But you're also seemingly fixated on collecting receipts and being the ONLY fan as 'justifiably enthusiastic' as you are.
And that suggests intent and purpose.

Speak for yourself but whatever you try and do?
Don't you dare (ever) try and speak for me.
The Knicks are apart of my childhood and have watched and loved them since 1992 @ 7 years old with both my older brother and Grandpa.
Before Coach Thibs saved my favorite NBA Franchise I've had to live through NBA DARKNESS immediately after Patrick Ewing (10+ Consecutive Postseason Appearances) and lived throughout NBA/NY darkness dating back to immediately after JVG where we went 15/19 years of no Playoffs (before Thibs arrival) with 12 different coaches who combined for a losing record of 592-886 overall vs. in comparison to being on the verge of making the Playoffs 2/3 years under Thibs with a WINNING RECORD..
🚨Worry about yourself and how YOU "fan" but don't you dare worry about how me & my daughter have given each other literally hundreds of high 5's throughout our previous 15 Knicks games @ .800% (12-3).
🚨Don't you worry about me raving about this team coming off of 9 consecutive wins in a row aka the 8th longest Knicks winning streak dating back to 1946 of 77 years ago.
🚨And don't you dare ever try and "correct me" about talking up these kids of NY who just became the 1st and only Knicks team within Franchise History since dating back to my Grandfather's legendary championship winning Knicks team to (ever) have two separate 8+ game winning streaks (within the same season).
Understood?
Okay.
Good.
Now go and do yourself a favor.
If you're trying to dehumanize these 2022-2023 Knicks kids of New York by not absolutely raving about them while also talking them up with passion and like no tomorrow too?
Go watch Chess or Ping Pong (because NBA basketball isn't for, you).
Understood?
Okay.
Good.
NYKMentality wrote:Don't you dare (ever) try and speak for me.
I don't know what you think a public message board community is, but if people can look at Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, and Julius Randle's game from afar and comment on it, I can comment on your game.

Okay. I go back to the Bernard King and lived through the Pat Cummings-Ken Bannister era and experienced everything you did and more.
Cool.
So how is this shared experience relevant to anything?

Again, I don't understand the relevance of this.
Of the two of us, I'm the one that will be perfectly fine if these "kids of NY" simply perform well (which they are) and not as Marvel superheroes.

Curious, because it's you who serially dehumanize the Knicks, by expecting them to meet nearly impossible standards, like 60 wins or by beating an opponent by 50. That isn't confidence, it's fetish.
You've created a self-fulfilling prophecy of being a better "fan" than anyone else who'd be pleased with 47 wins this year and/or play a competitive second round series, or 50-54 wins next season, or who'd be just fine with a well played 2 point win in Sacramento tomorrow (because they're a real good team). You;ve picked a fight with someone who thinks the Knicks are a really good team who should perform very well the final 15 games.
Very well just isn' good enough for you.
I see the 2022-2023 Knicks kids of New York as human... which means they're flawed and get tired and are gonna look bad for halves and lose games they shouldn't and lose to teams better than they are, and to finish 4th-6th in the East and be just fine with that.

Actually, I loved the winning streak. The most fun I've had watching basketball since Linsanity. And I love coming here and hearing other's views on things. Except I can't focus on what others are saying with you yapping like a rabid chihuahua all the time. With your ranting posts loaded with emoticons, honestly it hurts my eyes.
