Knicks · [Game Thread 3/9/23] Knicks at Kings 10PM TNT (page 4)

Truth be told, I cant beleive we're still in it.
JesseDark @ 3/10/2023 12:45 AM
Gave up too many points in the paint + poor free throw shooting + no J Brunson = loss.
GustavBahler @ 3/10/2023 12:51 AM
Not happy about the loss, but this is the kind of game that can help a team take inventory, with the playoffs approaching.

Obi was looking to get more involved, good news.

IQ looked shook for most of the game.

Grimes biggest late game minutes in a while. Taking it to the rim helped IMO. Wasnt settling for the 3. Need more from a starting SG.

Randle needs Brunson

Some late brain farts, but they didnt quit.

NYStateOfMind @ 3/10/2023 12:54 AM
Randle, Barrett, IQ & Toppin 5 for 33 from 3pt range. Pathetic. That alone deserves this loss. 20-31 from the charity stripe. Those were just 2 horrible areas tonight. Just these mistakes alone will make sure our ceiling is 2nd round. Simply got punked tonight, embarrassing. That was a very winnable game on the road tonight and there was no reason to rush Brunson back. Hart & Grimes tried to will this team to a win, Hart had 15 rebounds & 7 assists.
Alpha1971 @ 3/10/2023 1:03 AM
Has the team been using Mitch Robs free throw technique ? Didn't watch the game was sleeping got up to pee, checked my phone for score. Glad I didnt watch. Is Brunson injured again ?

I was only able to watch the second half but both made some pretty careless errors, especially down the stretch. So far it has been out of character for Hart (I'm assuming yoiu mean jHart), but I've come to expect bad decision making in the clutch from Grimes, regardless of his talents. I really thought the whole team fought hard, they all just didn't get it done. This team really depends on Brunson to be the calm head in the clutch.

I am such a big fan of Josh Hart — WOW one of my favorite Knicks to watch of all time.

Quick has been brutal ever since he was anointed the next great pg after Boston game.

Watching RJ play makes my eyes bleed —— I can’t stand this kids style of play. Some of the sloppiest handles in the league, cement blocks for feet and shoots free throws like Helen Keller (bless her soul).

Randle all over the place but he has won me over despite his ball handling and defensive follies with the sheer aggression & physicality he plays with. That said he’s not a smart player.

Also love I-Hart who is throwing his body all over the court.

Obi = Charmin Soft and should be selling My Pillows on the side

That's it in a nutshell "That said he’s not a smart player."

MaTT4281 @ 3/10/2023 8:50 AM
Well - sounds like I can delete the DVR and save myself 2.5 hours. Congrats COY Mike Brown!

Onto LA!

Was great to see the doggedness of fighting back to tie it. But super disappointed that they tripped at the finish line

We need to get Julius off ball in these situations. He almost blew it in Miami that way, and has blown it with CHarlotte and Sac w late game, pressure situation miscues. In part it’s because the opponent expects it and is waiting for him to turn his back (when they then double or triple) or by defending him w a smaller player with quicker hands and feet.

Ideally Brunson would have the ball but if not him we need some one who is a bit more reliable than Julius in that role. I would say post Julius up but i think he’s terrible with his back to the basket. Loses all awareness

Anyway hopefully they shake this off. Was nice to see Grimes contribute meaningfully. Ohi still has his head up his ass

No shame in losing in Sacramento. That's a good team. I'm more upset at Brunson getting hurt. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious. We battled and fought back and even tied it but the turnovers and poor shooting killed us. And give kudos to Fox. He made timely shots and made our guys look old.

Not sounding the alarm on Randle yet but he's been bad the last two games. Looks like last years Randle. Distracted and not foused. I can live with poor shooting and even some of the turnovers with Brunson there but the effort defensively has been horrendous. That play where Lyles beat him back door for the dunk off the inbound pass was inexcusable. Kings were picking on him defensively too. He needs to snap out of it, especially if we're going to be without Brunson for who knows how long.

Tip your hat off to Hart. He was a monster and kept us in the game. It's amazing how he can rebound the ball as a guard. That inbound turnover hurt but it happens. Grimes was also fantastic and made some key shots and plays to bring us back. Weird to see Rob get dominated like that. But Sabonis is a really good low post player.

I thought RJ was pretty good. Made a big three to tie the game. But I agree, watching him hurts your eyes at times. I think I'm more fluid and athletic than him, no joke. LOL IQ shot poorly but not worried about him.

Got to try to get at least one on this trip.

But he could shoot his way out of it from 3? The turnovers are a learning process? He is like a butterfly and Kobe will emerge from his 22 y.o chrysalis after one more offseason?

Nalod @ 3/10/2023 11:38 AM
Losing makes my eyes bleed. We microhypocrtical on RJ as were were on Frank, and Melo before him.
We excuse our favorites for some reason?
Like when we were backing the truck up to resign IQ given his wonderful game vs. Boston and annointed him the second coming.
Last two games, not so.
Young players are inconsistant. RJ, Grimes, IQ and Deuce. Obi seems consistent given his minutes and last week was 25 years old. Im resigned to what Obi might be.
I love all my young guys.
Reminded of our preseason predictions that we'd struggle for the play in game.
Our recent surge has perhaps distorted that as has media hype on knicks. And for good reason!!!!

Do RJ, nor any of the yoots inconsistent play bother me? No.
What sucks is when reliance of the 3 is our strong suit and it goes cold.

Hahaha but he averages 19.8 points per game. Smh

Yeah Martin - glad I have some company as well — it’s hard watching him.

Personally i just don’t think he’s earned the minutes Thibs gives him. Giving Grimes/Hart minutes to RJ is criminal on Thibs part.

For me, his production while taking into account his effectiveness has not earned him that but his ceiling potential has. It is what is it.

He is frustrating!!!! So close yet so far! He gets to the foul line which I think kind of bails him out at times.
We can't ride his 46 pt game vs miami for ever, can we?? LOL
If Herro can bounce back, maybe RJ can too!!!!

Rookie @ 3/10/2023 3:23 PM
Field goals 42/101 41.6%
3pt field goals 13/50 26%

We didn’t make our shots and we still hung in the game. Moral victories!

technomaster @ 3/10/2023 3:34 PM
We’re down arguably our best player. Brunson is literally the most difficult player loss for us to overcome.

I mean, it’s all good so long as we maintain 5th seed or better. We can chalk these games up as learning experiences, with the understanding that we’re not 100%.
