Obi gets burn, he likely won’t
This just in. The Knicks have waived DaQuan Jeffries.

I’m guessing it’s just for the rest of this year and non- guarantee or partial guarantee for next season to lock him in for summer league, training camp, etc. always good to have guys in the system. Better than searching for a similar level player during training camp.
He exhausted his 2nd 10 day contract so either the Knicks had to let him go or needed to sign him.
It’s not too much to assume the Knicks want to keep him for a trade or training camp or Westchester next year and he will be on the headline descriptive “multi year contract” that is really only a non guarantee deal for next year.
Can you sign a non guaranteed deal to include in a trade to match salary ?

I don’t know exactly the logistics of that specific question but if a trade did go down and DaQuan’s salary and/or roster spot was a necessary part of trade, the amount of his contract would be so small by comparison that no one would care about his guarantee getting kicked in.
Make sense?

Right so if we sign him to a non guaranteed, 3 million dollar deal for example we can trade him for a player on a rookie deal with picks
