We have two good centers although we DO lack possible fire power from that position at times. Barret is solid so the one position that might be the lightest is back up 3 or a 3-4 combo. We can simply use an undersized hart at back up 3 to compensate as well. I said in a post a possible offseason 3-4 target in the nba could be k j martin. But as a whole Knicks are rather stacked w talent right now.

Yes, as many have discussed all season we are prime for a consolidation type trade given the "Saturation". The split of Hart/Grimes serves us well. Grimes is still just 22 and not terrible that "He not consistant yet".
RJ is sneaky getting better and more consistent. His mistakes are amplified given his slow start. Nalod can't tell the faithful the truth because thats for Thibs or Byrant to explain what he has improved on this season. His pentation using his body is so much better. Getting to the line, finishing is a work in progress but progressing. His passing is improving. When young players are developing they make mistakes. He is.
Bottom line is his outside shooting is a bad look and that has to turn around.
His fans see one thing and detractors another. Nobody is convincing anyone otherwise except his splits.

I hope you're right and I'm wrong. Not sure exactly will be the metric. For me, it is more about the overdribbling, slowness, lack of vision, and bad decisions that irks me. I wouldn't be so vocal about it if it was just about shooting. I won't be surprised if he improves his shooting, but still has bad IQ.
Jules makes bad decisions too. However, Jules dominates in other ways.

I agree, the guards are stacked. I love Mitch/iHart effort on the boards. As Briggs said, it would be nice if one of them could shoot.
I could imagine a stretch 5 playing along side Jericho manning the 4. Can't really play Jericho at the 4 with no shooting from the 5 either.

I know (some) people don't like this and don't consider it basketball talk but if Caseloads can do his spamming after losses, I imagine this is permissible.
THIS is what a regular season is - ups and downs, streaks and slumps. The good teams (like the Knicks) have more of the former than the latter. That simple.
But it seems to some fans, a professional sports regular season is like the movie Momento. They need to write down "the Knicks are good" on their arm to remember it every morning.
No, the Knicks are not SO good they're going to dominate consistently for 82 games. But they're good enough to dominate now and again but not so good that they won't struggle now and again too.
Yet somehow this simple concept of ups and downs over 6 months/82 games seems like an unsolvable mystery to some fans.

I want to see what our Euro player looks like and see what he can add to guard mix. Certainly someone in the mix now would have to be subtracted to add him.

Me too. Flashback of Milos Vujanic, lets see what he's got. If IQ is promoted to the starting lineup next season, he might be a candidate for backup PG.

We were 19 & 18 after Dec. 27 & 25 after January. that is a 500 team. One great winning streak in a short month, and we built a 7 game cushion. Can't take that away from them, just like the rest of the year is there too to remind us this is a 500 team that had one good stretch, has looked better of late except for injuries, but every team deals with injuries.

I do think the team itself and some fans are acting a little too arrogant. This team takes games off as if they are an entitled contender that doesn't need every win and homecourt.
Brandon Tierney says it will be a great disappointment if we don't beat Cleveland in the first round. We are a 5th seed who will end up with 47 wins most likely. This is not a 55 or 60 win team going up against an 8th seed. Cleveland will have the better record and will have the best player in the series in Spida. Why would it be a great disappointment? If anything the series is a toss up and should go 6 or 7.
I also have seen some fans already stating if we don't make the ECF the season will be considered a failure. It seems to me some are overrating this team and having unrealistic expectations. This is NOT an elite team or a title contender.
I think this is a good team that will give Cleveland a tough series. Whether we win or not will depend on a lot of factors such as Randle's play and mental health, Thibs adjustments, Brunson's health and RJ's shooting. We can beat the Cavs. But that is as far as this team goes this season.

My agenda is to simply point out that when you actually look at our season long performance, we had one really good stretch, and then a whole bunch of mediocrity before and after.
The play in spots has been encouraging. But for every good stretch, we regularly put up ugly stinkers where we allow teams to shoot lights out from 3.

Knicks are also "scary bad at times"
Loaded with undersized guards makes it difficult to play 2 guards at the same time, from a defensive perspective.
Yes obi needs to be more consistent, but Thibs needs to play him more. Hard to be consistent when you only getting 8-15 mins a game. And each time he's in the game, he's always looking over to the sideline, because he knows Jules will be at the scorers table. Thats why he jacks up shots. Gotta get it in before he's pulled out.
Yes we have a lot of guards, but only 1 floor general (who Randle respects) and 1 PG in training (who Randle doesn't respect). That last comment was purely from Randle's interaction with IQ. I don't think Randle would ever do that to Brunson. He respects him too much, and thats who Randle needs with him on the floor.
What we are missing is a backup floor general (D Rose type player). If only we had somebody like that on the team
