We have two starters in RJ. and Grimes, without a reliable midrange game. They might be able to get by without one in the regular season, but not in the playoffs.

Grimes is a good passer off of penetration. But he needs plays to do that

Has to be able to do that off of improvisation as well.

Grimes Achilles heel has always been 2 fold —- not fully confident and no pull-up mid-range which is remarkable for a guy with his stroke. That said he has shown skills but the offense with Barrett/Randle mostly leaves him standing without the ball all game.

RJ - there is no hope of a mid range coming —- ship has left the dock, port and country.

Seems like whoever hits first wins. Plus the refs suck and are unpredictable. They call a foul when there’s no foul and don’t call a foul when there’s a foul. On both ends.

And you wonder why I’ve been on thibs. In game adjustments

LOL - if you think we know it what do you think front office is thinking?

Clean @ 4/18/2023 10:02 PM

This is why players don't want to play for Thibs.

WTF is he doing.

Randle is garbage Brunson is awful. Just rest them. It happens.

Put in rose / Fournier / McBride live to fight another day.

He didn’t adjust. We got the split we got what we needed.

Makes no sense to have our big 3 in the game so late when down by 25.

I wouldnt call it old school, just stubborn and egotistical. Having said that, I dont put the loss on Thibs. No one really stepped up, like a cascade failure. Game like these happen, its what adjustments Thibs makes.

Concerned about the injury issue with JB and Randle. Cavs left Mitchell in too long also, IMO.

I kind of understand that he might leave RJ in to find his game.

Honest question: is EF worse than RJ at this point?

Yes, RJ tries to defend. He was guarding Garland most of the game. Wait, what ? Lol

RJ plays defense like an 80 year old man trying to get off the sofa

Guy going down steps 1st was definitely RJ because he went down left the whole way

RJ has one off of pivot moves, but he doesnt have a floater, or a pullup jumper from midrange. We watched him go mostly to that same drive that whiffs too often.

Also too often uses a Melo-like amount of time to get his shot off, when he isnt that good. Which is why he needs a midrange, to get a shot off faster.

Hate it.

Cavs made excellent adjustments
They doubled Brunson high and worked him all night
They cut their rotation down and really shut out wade and okarro
The shot distribution was way better
BRIGGS @ 4/18/2023 10:08 PM
I gotta watch the ranger game now . I hate having important games on same time!!!!!
Chandler @ 4/18/2023 10:10 PM
This should light a fire under some asses

My biggest concern is the refs will totally change the rhythm and start calling tricky tack fouls after letting this gsme get away from them

They ran a high PnR with Garland and Allen that enabled Garland to get into the paint easily every time. From there he continued to dump it of, draw fouls or score at a high clip. That was the game right there. We had no answer.

This is the main thing. They cut out non shooters. We need to do the same with RJ but you know he will start next game and still get big minutes. The spreading the shots around got the others in rhythm. We need to do the same. It is why players like Grimes and Obi play better when the ball moves. Deep into the 2nd both Grimes and IQ had 2 shots taken combined.

LOL - there was about 9 minutes left and we were down ~20 and RJ was dribbling around trying to find his shot and I’m thinking the entire 4th quarter is going to run out.

Funny thing is that both teams run a similar offense. Garland and Mitchell 1v1 and we got Randle and Brunson

We also need to return the favor with some "hustle plays" on the Cavs next game.

Playoffs is all about adjustments. Bickerstaff made some great adjustments and it paid off, now its Thibs move on the chess board. Cavs are targeting Brunson on both sides of the ball. Will be interesting to see how Thibs adjust. Watching Mitchell competely control the offense in 4th, running PNR and with shooter surrounding him reminded me of the late game Utah situations...

Well, they're heading back home and tomorrow is another day. We'll see what new tricks Tom learned and take it from there. Hopefully it leads to less minutes for RJ. But who takes them?
