Twin Tower lineup gives them terrible spacing and gets them destroyed on the boards. They should trade one of them for a wing

Grimes and picks for Mobley?

So Grimes there is a bench player and they give up a 21 year old 7 footer stud for the chance to draft out of the lottery for the next 5-7 years?
I love Grimes but the Klay Thompson comps were a bit premature.

Right now Grimes only has one gear-warp speed. Why IQ is so good at breaking down defenses, has more than one gear.

Grimes has no midrange game. He gets the ball near the paint, he's often looking for someone to pass to, not even looking at the rim. Not confident yet in that part of his game.

If he comes back next season with the makings of a midrange game, a floater, he'll be a much more dangerous player. Still wouldnt compare him to Klay with his HOF stroke. Grimey has a way to go.

Can’t say Allen and Mobley are playing bad, but our guys are just doing it well.

There isnt a dropoff defensively when Hartenstein subs in. Very important.

iHart a bit more mobile, better hands, and creates a different look with it.
The steals and defections are really helping.

I wonder how many Cavs fans defected today.

More like casual nba fans and media pundits who have been laughing at us for a year because we didn’t offer Ainge RJ, Grimes, Obi, IQ and 6 unprotected firsts for Mitchell

No kidding. Maybe I overestimated Mobley/Allen (I don’t I have but thats a different subject) but I wasn’t expecting this.

I think the Knicks may be regretting giving Hartenstein that second year player option

Mobley still looks very raw and his body hasn’t filled out yet. He has a lot of potential

Not gonna disrespect Mobley - he's already doing amazing things at age 21. He averaged only 12 shots/game this season, the same as his rookie year - I think the addition of Mitchell stunted his growth as a scorer.

I bet the Cavs wish Love didn't ask for a buyout like a punk. He'd have added another dimension to this team. They're pretty thin after Allen and Mobley.

But to think that Hartenstein was a Cav in 2020-2021 is kind of crazy. Nice that he has a chance to stick it to a former team that didn't give him a deal. And kudos to the Knicks for this surprise signing. I had no idea who Hartenstein was before the FA announcement.

There will be a lot of overreaction from the media once we win this series to declare the Cavs to be going nowhere. These were the same guys saying we had no chance of beating the Cavs so it’s time to go the opposite extreme. The truth is the Cavs have a bright future but so do we

Not saying Mitch hasn't been a beast, but somehow that stat feels off. For example, yesterday's 3rd Q- Mitch was on the floor and the Cavs got at least a half dozen layups or dunks. I guess they are only counting this when Mitch is positioned at the rim?

ESPN predictions were slanted toward Cavs. Of 18 writers that voted, 14 picked Cav's. Of them, 9 were in seven. The other 5 were Cav's in 6. Is that saying "No chance"? 5 predicted knicks win series
But given they were 4 seed to our 5, its not crazy. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/3614...

Not sure I understand your obsession with what how media has depicted us. Its not like in the last 20plus year we have earned the respect or the benefit of the doubt on the court or off it.
Knicks were seen as struggle to get into play in game. After last season and improvement of teams in the east even with brunson it was not like it was a certainty.
Every year a team surprises and this year we were it. Brunson was better than advertised and Randle was allstar version.

I do agree both franchises are on the upswing going forward.

Doesn't seem that far-fetched. Cavs are shouting less than 50 percent on shots 6 feet and less that Mitch defends. I can't find the methodology NBA university uses. Imma roll with it.

Allen and Mitch have been compared for a while now. Noone should be rating Allen over Mitch at this point.

Well, as long as we not counting points, or rebound avg, or assists, then on rim protection alone its a good look!

ALLEN was a great pick up for Clev and makes a good salary. Im not even suggesting anything but objectivity.
Mitch is part of the family. He has taken a big step this year!!!! Very big. We good with him!!!!

It's a lot closer when you factor in minutes played, pace, etc. Is Mitch better? Don't really care. Is Mitch getting in that @$$ this series? Hell yeah. Would I rather have Mitch on his contract? Another 'Hell Yeah! '

They are playing head to head directly this exact moment. And Mitch is winning this matchup clean, when it matters and seasons are on the line. Didn't say Allen was a bum. So Cleveland's deal for him and contract isn't necessarily relevant to my comment.

VDesai @ 4/24/2023 2:59 PM
Allen is a good player. On offense, he is superior to Mitch. He seems like a better finisher than Mitch (hands), and he is better at FT and has more touch around the basket (he's shown off a bit of a jump hook). However he has failed to intimidate/protect the rim and he hasn't kept our guys off the offensive glass in this series. IN general Allen's reb #s are good, but Mitch definitely more of an impact rebounder.

We are leading the playoffs in offensive rebounds - and we are also last in 3pt shooting and FG%. So on the one hand, we have by far the most opportunities for offensive rebounds. That said getting them is easier said then done. Mitch and Hartenstein have been beasts and we've also seen Josh Hart and Obi Toppin collect long rebounds on missed 3s that have made a huge difference in this series.

Your not incorrect. The schematic of our wings setting picks and pulling Allen out is creating havoc for Clev defense:

The Knicks have adopted this strategy because it directly takes Cleveland’s two best defenders, Allen and Evan Mobley, out of the action.

You said: "Noone should be rating Allen over Mitch at this point."
Likewise clev is not neutralizing Mitch on the offensive end. Mitch is physically dominating.
All true and why we are up 3-1.
Perhaps when you said they have been compared for a while, I went and looked at that and wanted to see that.

Something else in the photo...Notice where Josh Hart's center of gravity is while he's boxing out Allen. Not sure that the two bigs on the Cavs have optimum bodies for boxing out-They both have long thin legs, and bodies which make it tougher to fight for position down low.

Allen and Mobley have the height, obviously, but if you find them and box them out quickly enough, their high center gravity really works against them.
