Knicks · News this morning- Lebron may retire (page 2)

SergioNYK @ 5/26/2023 10:03 AM
I respect LeBron as a player. He is the second best I've seen after MJ.

I just don't want him as a Knick. I haven't gotten over the decision in 2010, resent him for winning rings with Miami and he's done and said some annoying stuff over the years. Like this latest bs about retiring. I took it as him whining and trying to steal the attention from Jokic and Denver which is messed up. I respect the player, don't like the personality and extra stuff. I believe there are certain players who you just should not want. Guys like MJ, Reggie, Tim Hardaway. I put LeBron in that group. He has brought a lot of pain to this franchise the last 20 years.

Maybe I'll mature and let go of things as I get older but I'm 40 and I think I am what I am aka a resentful unforgettable prick. LOL

As a fan, on this board, I am not applying the same principles and behaviors I would in my "real" life. I don't know Lebron, don't know you guys really, but I won't let any of that keep me from shooting from the lip. So screw 'im. He's one of the greatest athletes of any era, but also a diva ring chasing douchebag flopper who clowned my favorite team.

True. But when we were in a position to recruit him and Dolan presented (kendal Roy), he did not exactly present well.
Not like we had what Miami offered at that moment: IN prime Wade, Bosh and the full juice card that was Riley.
But, we all don't have to agree!
Personally I don't want him as a 40 year old and I don't want a one year starphuch team one year team. If Bronny is the real deal and we draft him its because we like his prospects. But Im not down with building a team and giving the keys to Lebron based on his past accolades. In two years, I expect Lebron if he goes to any team to not be all about him anyway.

Why would we want Lebron now? He’s nowhere near the player he was in 2010 or even 2018. He’s a power forward now and we already are staffed up at that position and he will come here with the expectation of being shadow GM and head coach and ruin our culture. Let him go beg Silver for help with the lakers

Lebron decided in 2008 when he played with Wade and Bosh in the Olympics he was going to Miami. Walsh could have made the greatest sales pitch ever lebron had his bags packed for Miami

We had cap space to sign two players. Miami had Wade and the abilty to sign two also and get Shuttlesworth.
What did Knicks and Walsh have?

He wanted Spo gone after they lost in finals. And Lebron did not agree with Spo’s insistance they play defense a certain way. They said no. Riley said no. They played did adjust and install the defense and won chips Remember, he approved of Spo when he signed. Riley stood up to Lebron.

Lebron stayed three more years. He was a dick, but they won chips. Coach and player.

Those two will never get along? WHy? Lebron did bend and benefited from it. The series they lost to mavs showed remarkable immaturity from the Heat and Lebron. Do you think anyone ever learns from mistakes, grows or changes?
Looks like your pandering to the school kids at the lunch table that hate lebron. You have nothing to really say but want to be liked liked by someone. You don’t have to like lebron, but at least have a take.

Lebron left the Heat because pat riley wouldn’t fire spoelstra. If you think Lebron is getting along with thibs I have some Bernie madoff mutual funds to sell you

Also, Lebron is nowhere near the player he was 5 years ago

After 4 seasons Bosh and Wade were cooked. Lebron and Spolestra went to finals 4 times.
You suggested Lebron and Thibs would not get along based on what happened 13 years ago with those two. Nobody suggested at all Lebron at age 40 would be close to what he was 5 years ago.

Nice deflection.

From the best player in the league to top 5 still makes LeBron a dangerous player. It's all about availability at this point.

Broadcasting 'the decision" from the Knicks backyard was a dick move. LBJ's body of work as a player, and ambassador for the league, far outweighs the negative. The questionable decisions.

If James was on a mission to close out his career by helping NY win its first chip' in 50 years. I'd happily welcome him. Picky, picky, picky!

For the Knicks to have a legit shot, James couldn't eat up so much of the cap. So I don't know if it's doable.

Lebron is still top 5? Jokic, Giannis, Steph, Durant, Tatum, Butler, Ja, Mitchell, Booker, Kawahi are all better than him and he’s going to be even older next season. Oh and then there’s the facts that he never wants to come here and even if he did he would wreck the organization in a similar way KD just screwed the nets

Vmart @ 5/28/2023 11:18 AM
I had a lot of respect for LeBron his first run with Cleveland when he lost to the Spurs was great. When he went to Miami I lost a lot of respect for him as a player. The NBA kept pushing and pushing LeBron down our throats. It was all too planned out. Go to Miami for two three years while NBA stacks Cleveland with picks and number ones. Go back and compete for titles. Go to Lakers well you all know the league love the Lakers and gifts will be waiting for LeBron to make his runs for titles. Four titles is what he has to show for his career and he picks and chooses his destinations and the NBA provides him with talent not just talent but top 5 talent. You here that shit he makes everyone better, maybe the top 5 players are making him look better.
Nalod @ 5/28/2023 11:23 AM
The 2016 run vs. GSW when they came back to win was one of the most incredible displays.
There is a lot of career to like or not.
My take is he took many teams to finals that had no business to get that far.
Few players can carry a franchise on his back. He has many times. Its not about like or not, its respect for whats on the court.
As for him as a knick if ever, Its more of a minutes reduced player than the alpha we have come to admire, or hate.

The hornets coincidentally win the Zion sweepstakes around the same time they trade AD to the lakers. This is just a few years after the Cavs getting Kyrie in the draft lottery the year after Lebron leaves

Cavs draft Kyrie, Anthony Bennett and Wiggins three years in a row. They sucked. Its why they got the picks.
