Hmmm... this would be iteresting if it were to happen. We know he can shoot.

Knixkik @ 5/26/2023 6:29 PM
The title of the article isn’t accurate because it’s just a suggestion from bleacher report. But regardless, he would be a good fit. He’s a shooter obviously but also offers a little more size and physicality and isn’t a terrible defender. Just not sure the minutes are there unless there’s a trade before free agency.
Rookie @ 5/26/2023 10:56 PM
Fournier 2.0
LivingLegend @ 5/26/2023 11:45 PM
While I like Struss I do worry that he could be a product of a great Heat system which relies on lots of movement/ screens to free him.

Could see him come to us and basically be relegated to stand / watch offense that won’t help him.

No idea what Knicks plans are but DiVincenzo would seem to be on our list with the $12M MLE.

- can play point/sg and sf in pinch
- can start and come off bench and very competitive
- Nova, Brunson, Hart connection
- defends - good athlete who has played for 2 good teams and fit in
- good athlete who can handle/shoot 3 pretty well — we do need more guys who can put the ball on the floor and make good decisions

Say Knicks want to run it back with Dante the only move this summer and we start IQ.

Below gives us 2 ball handlers in starting and bench rotations…Brunson/IQ and Dante/J-Hart

Brunson, IQ, RJ, Randle, Mitch
Dante, Grimes, Hart, Obi, Hart

LivingLegend @ 5/26/2023 11:46 PM
Bruce Brown is another guy but could be too much like J-Hart and not provide enough shooting but VERY solid player
Jimbo5 @ 5/27/2023 12:38 AM
What about DiVincenzo? Can Jalen and hart convince him to join them with the knicks?

Would think the $12M MLE would be the convincing factor and Brunson/Hart wouldn’t hurt.

Another guy I like is Grant Williams.

Knicks in theory could move Obi for a wing shooter - ex Duarte type and sign G Williams as back-up 4/5 and a guy we can go to defensively when Julius is on skid row.

LivingLegend @ 5/27/2023 12:56 AM
Lonnie Walker another young 25 year old SG —- could work with IQ/Walker/Hart/Obi/Hart off bench and give us a little juice off bench.

Need to go to a low cost option. You can canvas and find these guys.

There are Malik Monk types every year.

Something interesting comparing Thibs and Spo.

Robinson was awful all season long never played. Similar to Fournier. Robinson actually hasn’t been that great in the playoffs either but Spo played him for spacing while Thibs wouldn’t even look fourniers way and played lineups where zone shut down the team because of a lack of spacing.

Obi is going to be traded for a shooter. I think it’s likely going to be for Hield. Maybe Rose, Obi and a second.

shinmen @ 5/27/2023 6:47 AM
We shouldn't overhype the Miami players. They got hot at the right time. Good for them. Struss is a mediocre player. He would fill a position of need though if he could be had for very cheap.

Good example of how Thibs was out coached.

We can sign burks and/or watanabe this offseason to cheap 1-2 year deals with a team option

Without Butler drawing double teams and a bunch of other 3 point snipers I don’t know if Struss gets all those wide open looks

Not thrilled about running back Burke’s again.

Unless I’m wrong outside of vet min contracts we only have the lower level room exception starting around $4M and the mid starting at $12M. Burke’s is too good for the $4M and I hope we don’t give him the $12M.

Wantanabe might get the $4M type offer.

Prefer a 6’8-6’9 SF/PF.

You can’t look past the obvious to try to find some genius move.

Robinson played because the Heat literally have no one else to play. There is literally no one else on their bench. Herro, Oladipo hurt.

When Herro, Oladipo not hurt, Robinson was glued to the bench.

I don’t know, playing young guys playoff minutes over someone like Rose and Fournier is a literal no brainer.

Burks on a 1 year $12 mil deal is reasonable

DiVincenzo makes more sense than Strus for sure. He’s probably as good of a shooter and does more on defense. He’s likely doing what Strus is if he’s in the Miami system.
Alpha1971 @ 5/28/2023 7:33 AM
I'll take Gabe Vincent.

My thoughts on Struss is that he works because he fits the Heat's style and culture... they have like 87 guys that play this way

I think you sign him to a big deal, his contract will look exactly the same as THJ's or EF's or any of the other flawed players our various management regimes swung and missed on. I do like that he's more two way, that said, anyone think he'd have played better defense on Jimmy Buckets than Grimes? Anyone comfortable giving some of Quickley's minutes to Struss?

I'm a PASS on Struss
