Yes I'm think Edey is extremely undervalued. There are flaws to his game sure, but his strengths may outweigh that. He will be physically imposing at the NBA level too. Could be a massive steal outside the top 15.

i mean look at Jah Okafor, physically imposing, great foot work, averaged 19ppg as a 19 year old rookie. but at the end of the day, his lack of defense, foot speed and floor spacing did him in. Not sure I see it with Edey, his offense isn't enough to overcome the rest, he's like an even slower footed Kanter who also fell out of the league.

In the long run you may be correct. What this team could use for these next few seasons he could be a good impact player.

IHart isn't the fastest or quickest center.

Why are people sleeping on this guy? The rebounding is Thibsian and shooting percentage is nice. I think Freeman looks like a Knick

He's undersized and 24. Not the usual profile for a first rounder.

Noveau Thibs wants guys who can hit on catch and shoot and shoot from the corner. Dunn reminds me of rookie Ariza offensively. Or maybe Balkman esque.

I like the Ariza comp.Big difference is age, Ariza whrn he got here and Dunn is an older prospect. It was a lot easier to project offensive improvements in Ariza's game. Balkman was like a Anthony Bonner with less of a basketball IQ.

Herb Jones was a bit older and wound up developing a 3 pt shot over 3 seasons. Dunn showed no signs of improved shooting, but you could try to stick him in a corner and drill it. But some guys just cant do it - Mitch still cant hit 60 pct of his FT.

I look at Enrique Freeman as a guy who might have more of a chance to he a Jones. Maybe a wing/4 tweener, but IMO a big wing at the NBA level. Nice steals and blocks numbers, phenomenal rebounding numbers. Offense in the paint, but added more shooting over time. Still not someone who has shot the 3 a ton, but seems like he could develop that. Get him here, send him to Westchester for a bit. Yes he is older, but he has one skill that he can contribute in the NBA right now which happens to be something Thibs loves- crashes boards.

def less pressure on draft picking mid 20's and already being a contender, not needing a star or savior.

We've done great drafting around here and we'll have a solid list of guys like Dunn, Holmes, Baylor..etc...to choose from/ i'm confident we'll get a good player

How does this profile say he is elite defensive player, and then go on to say he has similarities to Kevin Knox and Obi Toppin?

I like him a lot for us. He has a chip on his shoulder, has always had to work to get places, is older, more mature, sound defensive instincts. He could theoretically be able to step in and play immediately.

We don’t need a player to be able to attack and breakdown defenses, we don’t need a volume scorer.

We need a taller player who can give us 10-18 minutes a game, not give up easy baskets to the opposing teams second unit, and hit the odd pass out for a set 3pt or cut to the basket or create plays with rebounding and defense.

If he can follow the lead of guys like Josh Hart and OG, then we’ve got the depth we need to weather the storm as the season and playoffs grind out.

Isaac Jones feels like that kind of player.

the write up mentions Knox and Toppin as comparables??? opposite of tough

I don't get the Knox comp, but I think they are comparing him to Toppin as he was a late blooming bucket getter with a good motor/energy coming out of school.

This guy is getting almost 13 rebs, 1.7 blocks, almost 1 stl a game. He has some nice scoring touch in the paint. 2 yrs ago never attempted a 3 pt shot, by his senior season was taking 1.5 a game and hitting 37%.

I see him as a guy with a solid work ethic, showed incremental improvements each year. Fits the mold of the type of personality/player we look for. He's a big wing/backup 4. I think he's gonna sneak into the first round right at the range we pick and he just seems like our type of player.

Led the country in rebounding, was 2 time all conf defense and his conference's defensive player of year. Looks to be a good finisher in the paint. I think he makes for a perfect Randle backup in year 1 and can spread to big wing as he develops his floor game and shot.

VDesai @ 6/21/2024 12:28 PM
7'2" wingspan on this kid too...definitely bodes well for his defense.
Knixkik @ 6/22/2024 7:32 AM
Only a few days before the draft and it’s still completely up in the air on who the Knicks like. This is when we actually miss Marc Berman. He had Grimes and McBride pinpointed as favorites early on. Most mock drafts have zeroed in on Ryan Dunn but it’s more of a guess based on connections and play style other than actual information. Otherwise it’s a complete crapshoot at this point what the Knicks are going to do.
Nalod @ 6/22/2024 11:12 AM
Knickland is way too quiet.
I can't fathom we draft 3 players.

I hope at least one but I agree. Thing is where they draft and the lack of anything close to predictability as to where players land, it is very hard to lock in on any players as you could at say #8 or #9. Probably good for us btw.

martin @ 6/22/2024 12:15 PM
I think the change in CBA along with weaker (or flatter?) draft may play a part too.

I’m guessing it’s gonna get wild soon

They said Jabari Smith was a lock in 2022 just hours before the draft. I'd still take these rumors with a grain of salt.

Different version of Grimes as a prospect and dev trajectory?

This guy has Knicks pick written all over him IMHO
