Kerr picked certain players on this roster for a reason and I just think when you see Kerr and Spoelstra giving all this praise to our guys that it really validates what we are doing from a team building standpoint. Hart is not a superstar, but what he does is just make a team work better. Kerr knows what with Draymond and Hart making 5 position contributions for Team USA.

Did Hart match up against the other teams 4 s ?

Yes sir. Hart plays 4 positions. The ultimate swiss army knife. No wonder we traded Obi for peanuts. Lets go!

We traded Obi for peanuts b/c Thibs refused to ever play without a traditional 5 and Randle is a made man. I think everyone will look back fondly on the Hart trade. He's a really good player and a great guy to root for. We won't look back fondly on Toppin trade though.

Every time he played without a 5 they sucked. Literally. Imagine being like "hey, this looks terrible, but lets stick with it just so Obi can get more looks"

Cause that would be good coaching.... Obi was finesse player. His dunks were fast breaks and uncontested. He didnt fight for shots or rebounds, he was widly inconsistent as a shooter. There's no metric that shows he had any positive impact while on the floor. He failed the eye test. He got his chances and it didnt work out. Consider the development we have seen from other players on this roster under Thibs looks a lot like the problem was Obi.

I cant wait to see how much better we are with someone like Hart playing the backup 4. RJ also (since he's gotta play somewhere)

This is factually inaccurate.

That last sentence?

Keep up with the hate. RJ is like Emperor Palpatine, the hate only makes him stronger. At this rate, RJ is going to singlehandedly lead Canada to an upset win over the U.S. Of course JB is going to have his 27 points and 8 assists and Hart is gonna 11 points, 15 rebounds and 4 steals while Brandon Ingram is going to stay pouting on the bench.

everything leading up to it. We don't know how Hart/Barrett lineups will fair. I think they will be better than Toppin or Randle lineups on D. Offense is a bigger question mark IMO. The bench struggled before Hart. I think ball handling in the half was the biggest issue. I haven't watched DDV a lot but hopefully, he helps here. With Hart, they were very good at the end of the year before Randle got hurt but lived on the break. Also, the Barrett/Hart lineup generally struggled to score.

The Knicks had the 3rd best offense efficiency after Hart came aboard. I doubt Obi had much of a material impact on that, especially considering his low usage.

And the Knicks just got better, especially with regards to the bench.

If your take is one of pessimism, so be it. I have yet to spot where your “factually incorrect” comes into play.

Randle/Toppin mins were rare but won by the Knicks year one and two. Not sure about year 3 but I mid season they were a plus. It was almost always when down big and didn't happen enough to judge but they certainly didn't suck anytime they played without a traditional 5. The Knicks won Obi's mins all 3 years. He didn't score all his points wide open or on the break, etc. Those are just silly statements. Btw Josh Hart scored 30% of his points in transition last year (this led the league). Also, Obi was one of 2 players in the NBA with a top 80 plus/minus while playing for a losing team year 2 (the other was IQ) and again they won his mins every year. Just about any metric you look at will say the Knicks benefited when he was on the floor in NY. Saying no matric will show he was a positive is again inaccurate. There is no "take". A lot of what he said is wrong. I wouldn't say someone's take on what will happen is wrong.

Brunson Looking Kyrie-like.

If JB and Mitch can figure things out. I believe that will play a large part in getting us to the conference finals.

I consider Brunson to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing players in the league. Small, lefty guard with a full bag of tricks. It looks a lot easier than it should be.

People are still underrating that bag of tricks. He is one of the very few on-demand scorers in the world. You can give the ball to Jalen against any defense at any time and say go get me a bucket night now and he'll be relatively efficient

Yup, and that's a super duper critical guy to have on a championship team and hard to acquire. Knicks finally got that piece.

blkexec @ 9/1/2023 10:30 AM
For people who wonder how us old guys can still hoop and beat these young guys. Just watch JB change of pace with his moves. Very suttle and a key skill set to have, especialy when you are older.

But JB can play in any era. I don't say that for a lot of players, including Steph Curry. But JB's lower based and size makes him hard to postup or push him off his spot, on offense or defense.

this is our guy... I love the kid but the player is tough to watch at times. This is where JHart and DD are going to really pressure RJ next season. A few of these guys and RJ's gonna be at 20ish minutes while other guys are playing down the stretch
